She was born October 12, 1979, in Royal Oak, Mich., to J. Samuel and Dee Peterson.

As a young child of only two years old she accepted the Lord as her Savior and lived her whole life as a follower of Jesus. She spent most of her childhood years in Aurora, CO, until moving to Beckley in 1995.

Heidi graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lee University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications with a specialty in Media Writing. While at Lee she met and married Jason Michael Brown in 2001. Heidi was an avid reader and writer contributing articles to West Virginia South and Focus on the Family Clubhouse Kids, as well as several other newsletters, blogs, and publications. She had a unique writing style that was eloquent yet practical; her writing came from a very personal place. Everyone who knew Heidi was touched by her servant’s heart. She was constantly aware of others’ needs and considered them above her own. Her servant’s heart was never more evident than with her children. She devoted her life to caring for them and teaching them to love the Lord. They are her legacy. She was a member of Faith Community Church, and was actively involved in numerous ministries serving wherever there was a need.
