Roger Dale Amos

LINDSIDE — Roger Dale Amos, 58, of 5850 Back Valley Road, Lindside, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Wickline Funeral Home in Lindside with Pastor Bob Mann and Minister Ed Gallimore officiating. Burial will follow at Fortner Cemetery in Rock Camp. Friends may call from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

LOGAN — Robert Baker, 80, of Logan died Saturday.

Lucille F. Bolton

PRINCETON — Lucille F. Bolton, 88, of the Old Pisgah Road in Princeton died Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born in Athens April 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Watson B. and Rowena E. Dobbins Martin.

Lucille was a graduate of Athens High School and was a faithful member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton. She was a former employee of the Celanese Corporation in Narrows, VA, and Maidenform, Inc., in Princeton. However, Lucille would be the first to tell you her most important job in life was that of taking care of her family. For sixty-two years she was a loving and supportive wife to her late husband, Frederick “Fred” Bolton, who died June 22, 2011. She offered that same love and support to her sons and their wives, daughter and her husband, grandchildren and spouses, great-grandchildren and her many friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents and her husband, one sister, Anna Page Meadows, and three brothers, Waldo B. Martin, Bernard W. Martin and Wilde M. Martin, preceded her in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Lois Ann Braun and her husband Rick; two sons, David Andrew Bolton and his wife Sandra and Daniel Keith “Danny” Bolton and his wife Cathy all of Princeton; four grandchildren, Amy Marie Belcher and her husband Jason, Jennifer N. Collis and her husband Travis, Michael Andrew Bolton and Jeffrey Neil Bolton and his wife Aimee; seven great-grandchildren, Jenna Belcher, Brooke Belcher, Jake Belcher, Mason Bolton, Blake Bolton, Gavin Bolton and Luke Collis; and three very special caregivers, Pearl Akers, Debbie Small and Mary Farley.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Princeton with Rev. John King and Rev. Jerry Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends may call at Johnston Chapel Baptist Church from 12 noon to the service hour on Monday.

Amy Michelle Burdette

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Amy Michelle Burdette, 31, of White Sulphur Springs, WV, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at CAMC General Division in Charleston after an extended illness.

Born March 18, 1981, in Ronceverte, she was a daughter of Mark A. Burdette and Brenda Ayers Arnold.

Amy was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Church Choir in White Sulphur Springs, was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, worked at Lewisburg Floral, and was a former member of Greenbrier East High School Band and Flag Corps. She was an extraordinary baby sitter and was a West Virginia State Scholars Society Award winner.

Survivors include her mother, Brenda (Robbie) Arnold of White Sulphur Springs, and father, Mark (Melody) Burdette of Virginia Beach, VA; brother, William Saylor Arnold, and sister, Brittany Addison Arnold, both of White Sulphur Springs; nephew, Braylon Andre Arnold of White Sulphur Springs; Grandparents Henry and Loretta Ayers of White Sulphur Springs and Hylas Burdette of Chester, Virginia; aunts, Karen Ayers of Lewisburg, Marty Strobel of Virginia and a beloved aunt Margaret Halterman of White Sulphur Springs; and an uncle Mike Burdette of Texas. Also surviving are a special friend, Sonny Deyo of New York, and friends of DAVITA Dialysis.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with Rev. Bobby McClintic officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery at White Sulphur Springs.

Pallbearers serving Amy’s services will be members of the Charleston Chapter of the Bikers Association.

Juanita Dare Callison

Juanita Dare Callison, age 96, went home to be with God on the wings of the angels on December 28, 2012. She was born on March 28, 1916.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who lived life to the fullest and was a member of the Springdale First Baptist Church. She loved and was loved so very much.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Callison, her son Elmo Callison and her son-in-law Benjamin Clonch.

She is survived by four children: 3 daughters and spouses, Tammy and Rodney Wilson, Charlotte Clonch, Yvonne and James Winnings, and 1 son and spouse, Charles and Ginger Callison. Also were 6 grandchildren and spouses: 1 granddaughter, Kimberly Dare Clonch, 5 grandsons and spouses, Marcus and Heather Clonch, Lewis and Lisa Winnings, Daryl and Janet Winnings, Chuck and Angie Callison, and Greg and Chika Callison. Also were 9 Great-Grandchildren and spouses: L.J. and Ashley Winnings, Mitch and Taron Winnings, Jamie and Adam Pugh, Jacob Winnings, Colby Winnings, Martika Callison, Lucas Callison, Melody Callison, and Andre Callison. Also 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Katlynn Winnings, Harley Winnings, Macenzie Winnings, Tucker Pugh, Bryson Pugh, Braylee Pugh, and Izzabella Winnings.

She was loved so very much and will be severely missed. In her own words “I have something the world didn’t give me and the world can’t take away.” We will love you forever and to the moon and back.

Mary E. Eckle

PRINCETON — Mary E. Eckle, 76, of Princeton died Friday, December 28, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born March 31, 1936, in Sandstone, WV, she was the daughter of the late H.J. Eckle and Edith Graham Eckle.

She was a graduate of Sandstone High School and the Charleston School of Commerce. She also attended Concord College. Mary was a self-employed bookkeeper for over fifty years working for Hooten Equipment in Charleston, Allied Refrigeration in Green Valley, and last working at Pennington Equipment in Princeton. She was a member and former Treasurer of the Covenant Baptist Church in Princeton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Lyle G. “Buck” Eckle.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Juanita Eckle Campbell and husband Johnny of Hinton; one niece, Molly Savilla and husband Allen of Hurricane; one nephew, Charlie Maddy and wife Suzzan of Moorefield; several cousins; special friend and caregiver Clayton Hall; special friend Joyce Ball and her extended family on the fourth floor Oncology Department at Princeton Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Keith Howerton officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to the service hour on Monday.

LOGAN — Mary Frances Lamp Esposito, 90, of Logan, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

RICHWOOD — Junie Colbine Frazer, 87, of Richwood, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012.

Jean Morgan Linkous

RONCEVERTE — Jean Morgan Linkous, 89, of Ronceverte, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012, at her home in Ronceverte.

Born May 22, 1923, at Ronceverte, she was a daughter of the late James W. and Lena Morgan.

Jean attended Greenbrier Regular Baptist Church in Ronceverte and was a retired housekeeping supervisor at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Nathan Morgan and Ed Linkous; sisters, Abigail Toothman, Janice Boone, Elva Honaker and Frances Arehart; and brothers, Melvin, Lambert and Gerald Morgan.

She is survived by a sister, Donna Estep and husband Pete of Sinks Grove, WV; a special niece, Sarah Mayberry of Caldwell, WV; and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Greenbrier Regular Baptist Church in Ronceverte, with Rev. Tim Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Regular Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until time of the service at the church on Monday.

Billy ‘Snake’ Morgan

MULLENS — Billy Aeron “Snake” Morgan, 60, of Mullens passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012, in a Charleston hospital following a short illness.

Born October 18, 1952, at Glace, WV, he was the son of the late Aeron and Josephine Elizabeth (Ward) Morgan.

Snake was a former coal miner with 16 years of service, a member of UMWA, was a former employee of the WV Department of Highways retiring as an equipment operator and crew supervisor, and was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Vietnam Era.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Donna Boothe Morgan; one son, Brian Morgan at home; two sisters, Regina Sizemore and her husband, Robert, of Saulsville and Mona Tilley of Mullens; and one brother, James Morgan of Pierpoint.

Services will be 12 noon Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Mullens Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Lewis Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Morgan, Dave Cox, Jeff England, Bobby Boothe, David Boothe, and Rodney Boothe.

Willard ‘Willy’ Sexton

FAYETTEVILLE — Willard “Willy” Sexton, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, at Pine Lodge Nursing Home, Beckley.

Born on August 1, 1929, at Kaymoor, he was the son of the late Roy and Marie Callahan Sexton.

Willy was a disabled U.S. Navy Veteran and a Charter Member of American Legion Post 149, Fayetteville. He was a member of Kaymoor Community Church. Willy loved music, the outdoors, and being with family and friends. He never met a stranger and will be missed in the community.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Conner, in 2001.

Survivors include his sister, Helen Jones of Jackson, Michigan; nephews, Randall Conner and wife, Pat, of Fayetteville, WV, and Billy Ray Jones of Jackson, Michigan; niece, Teresa Simmons of Jackson, Michigan; and extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Rev. Eddie Persinger officiating. Burial with military honors by America Legion Post 149 will be conducted at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at the funeral home.

James Edward Shaffer

James Edward Shaffer, 74, of Piney View, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at his home following an extended illness.

Born November 22, 1938, in Sprague, WV, to the late Clarence and Helen Shaffer.

He served our country in the United States Air Force. He was a proud member of the United Mine Workers of America and was a retired welder from J.O. Lively Construction Company. He also enjoyed traveling and dining out.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Lewis Shaffer; sister, Hazel Taylor; and his mother-in-law, Ruby Morris.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Ruth Ann Shaffer, at home; daughters, Mary Ann Bolen and husband Edward of Coal City, and Sarah Jane Redden and husband Jerry of Piney View; son, Douglas Keith Jackson of Harper Heights; brothers, Harold Shaffer and wife Carol of MD, Larry Shaffer of Florida; sisters, Sharon Shields and husband Butch of VA, and Linda Shaffer of Sprague; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandson.

A celebration of Mr. Shaffer’s life will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Cecil Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held on Saturday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Carson Comodore Stinson

PINEVILLE — Carson Comodore Stinson, 90, of Pineville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, following a long illness.

Born March 26, 1922, at Big Stone Gap, Va., he was the son of the late William Stinson and Virginia Stinson Dobbs and stepfather who raised him, David L. Dobbs.

Carson was a retired coal miner from Eastern Associated Coal Corporation’s Kopperston mines. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He received the Purple Heart while stationed in Germany.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Dalton Atwell Stinson, and a son, Terry Stinson.

Those left behind are his daughters, Robin Shrewsberry of Keyrock, Susan England and her husband, Byron, of Pineville, Dawn Stinson of Seattle, Wash., Teresa Atwell of Pineville, who was also his caregiver, Patsy Trent of Pineville and Debbie Atwell of Pineville; a brother, Fred Dobbs of Jolo; three grandchildren, Tracey Stinson Moore, Joshua England and Morgan McKinney; several stepgrandchildren; and his nephew, Bobie Coleman and his wife, Edie, of Tennessee.

A celebration of Carson’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville, with the Rev. Norman Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Family will receive friends from noon until time of service at the funeral home on Monday.

Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.

June W. Webb

June W. Webb was born August 3, 1951, in Beckley, WV. After a long battle with heart and kidney failures, he left to be with his Lord and Savior on December 22, 2012. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula L. Webb, and two of his siblings: Joyce Webb, and Edward Davenport.

He is survived by his sister, Annie Webb of San Antonio, Texas; two nephews who reside in Syracuse, NY, and New York City; and three cousins of New York City and Augusta, GA.

He attended Silvia School in East Beckley before moving to Brooklyn, NY, where he continued his formal education.

During the last two years of his life, he suffered several heart attacks, but he fought his way back after each hospitalization to fair health. Due to the recent failure of several of his bodily systems, he finally lost his fight.

June had a great sense of humor, loved music from the ’60s, and collected CDs of traditional gospel music. He enjoyed reading his Bible, and truly believed he was loved by the Lord. Although many of his old friends have either passed away or moved to other states, he was loved by all the people who knew him well.

Yes, June, Jesus Loves You.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Beckley. Rev. Walter M. Leach will officiate.

Herman Lee West

GHENT — Herman Lee West, 69, of Ghent, WV, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012, in Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.

He was born January 18, 1943, in Guyan, WV, a son of the late Clarence Corbet and Jinnie Adaline West.

He was a member of Truth Assembly Ministries and a disabled coal miner.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters.

Those left to cherish him include his loving wife Lois Elizabeth “Beth” Hatfield West; three sons Leroy (Tammy) West of Fireco, Frankie (Amy) West of Cove Creek and Jarrod (Brittany) West of Ghent; two daughters Jinnie Thomas of Soak Creek and Mary (Daniel) Sisk of Beaver; special mother and father-in-law French and Margie Hatfield of Pemberton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers Jordan, Louie, Ralph and Joe; two sisters Mary and Francis; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Grace and Truth Ministries, Coal City, with Bro. Hibby Hatfield and Bro. Bill Spencer officiating. SOMERSET, N.J. — Deacon Raymond D. Wheeler Sr. of Somerset, N.J., formerly of Mount Hope, died Monday, Dec. 24, 2012.
