Wavie Elenor Burgess Butler

Wavie Elenor Burgess Butler, 74, of Clear Creek, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley.

Born January 17, 1939, at Artie, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Margaret Dunbar Burgess.

She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Lawrence “Buddy” Butler; brothers, Cubie, James and Phillip Burgess; sisters, Rosetta Stover, Cora McCoy, Hope Bradley, Connie Daniels and Margaret Burgess; and foster kids, Gary Tiggs, Curt French, Jimmy Lively and David Adkins, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Frances Moses of Clear Creek and Abby Boggess of Clear Creek; two sons, Ted Butler and wife, Anna, of Clear Creek and Doug Butler and wife, Donna, of Dorothy; and a brother, Donald Burgess of Florida.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, one very special grandson, Douglas Jr.; four great-granddaughters; one great-grandson; a host of foster kids whom she loved very much, including Jimmy Treadway, Harvey Maynor, Lenny Hodge, Mitchell Burgess, Mark Stover and James Stover; many nieces and nephews and two special friends, Katie McGinnis and Barbara Wriston.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Butler was cremated. Graveside rites will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Ewing Creek Cemetery, Clear Creek. There will be no visitation.

Shirley Ann Chizmar, 75, of Beckley, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013.

Aaliyah Dilynn Bowles Domingo

WAIPAHU, Hawaii — Aaliyah Dilynn Bowles Domingo, 7, of Waipahu, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013.

A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Quinwood Memorial Park with Pastor Keith Delatte officiating.

Mabel Carnes Dunn

ROCKPORT, Texas — Mabel Carnes Dunn, 88, of Rockport, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Rockport Coastal Care Center.

Mabel was born January 27, 1925, in Pineville, Ky., to John Riley and Etta Carnes.

She graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in chemistry and worked as a chemist at DuPont Sabine Riverworks in Orange, Texas, after her first husband, Joe Hutchinson, passed away in April 1956. She married Donald Dunn, originally of Marie, W.Va., in 1960 and they were married 48 years until he passed in November 2008.

Mabel was a resident of Groves, Texas, for 55 years, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served with the United Board of Missions. She was a devoted wife and mother and a gracious hostess. She enjoyed summers in Marie with Don as well as visiting relatives in Kentucky. In her spare time she liked to study the Bible, read, sew, play bridge and golf, and attend concerts.

Survivors include son, John Hutchinson and wife Linda of Seaford, Va.; daughters Clare Rudder and husband Randy of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Dona Dawkins and husband Keith of Rockport, Texas; nine grandchildren, Christien Murawski, Hope Hutchinson, Abigail Rudder, Emily Dawkins, Sarah Dawkins, Jeremy Dawkins, Danielle Dawkins, Suzanna Dawkins, and Joshua Dawkins; and great-grandson Kiernan Murawski.

A celebration of life service will be held at the New Hope United Methodist Church in Marie, at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill United Methodist Cemetery in Forest Hill.

Friends wishing may send memorial contributions to New Hope United Methodist Church or the United Board of Missions.
