Thomas R. Bolen

Thomas R. Bolen, 66, of Odd, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013.

Born January 18, 1947, he was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Grose Bolen.

Thomas loved and cared for his family. He was always there for his friends and family.  He attended Grace Bank Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by his four brothers, Jessie, David, Frankie and Kelly.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Simon Bolen and wife Andrea of Daniels, John T. Bolen of Sophia, James Raymond Bolen and wife Mary of Virginia, Thomas Monroe Bolen and wife Anita of North Carolina; sisters, Clarice Holloway of Stockton, Calif., Elizabeth M. Blankenship of Sophia; also his companion of 16 years, Ethel Devereux of Odd.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 1 - 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irma Goins Bourgoin

OAK HILL — Irma Goins Bourgoin, 89, of Oak Hill, formerly of Beckley, passed to eternal rest at Bowers Hospice House Monday, July 8, 2013.

Arrangements are pending with Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr.,  Beckley.


Buddy Jack Ciccantell

WATERFORD, Ohio — Buddy Jack Ciccantell passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at his home in Waterford.

Buddy was born on August 13, 1938 at Tamroy, W.Va., to Sidney Faro Ciccantell and Lucy (Ellis) Ciccantell.

He attended Oswald Grade School, graduated from Mt. Hope High School, and earned advanced degrees from Fairmont State College and West Virginia University. He was a Navy veteran. He worked for many years as a supervisor for the Washington County Board of Education.

He is survived by his wife Betty and a son, Paul Sidney Ciccantell, and his wife, Laura, of Kalamazoo, Mich. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Katie and Jack, a sister, Phyllis Kern, and six nieces, Gail, Rosie, Lisa, Paula, Terri and Joy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sylvia, and his brother Mark.

As Buddy requested, his body will be cremated and his ashes strewn on the West Virginia mountains of Dolly Sods where his spirit may wander freely. There will be no visitation or services.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Kelli Cawley and the nurses and staff at Strecker Cancer Center for their care, love, and compassion for us.
