Lelia ‘May’ Bostic

RONCEVERTE — Lelia “May” Bostic, 80, of Ronceverte, died Thursday,  July 4, 2013.

Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Ronceverte Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andy Howdock and the Rev. James Um officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Ronceverte. There will be visitation two hours before the service Sunday at the church.

Jackie ‘Jack’ Ervin Crawford

Jackie “Jack” Ervin Crawford, 54, of Cool Ridge, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Services to celebrate the life of Jack will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Pastor Charlie Tilley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

W. Eugene Shelford

W. Eugene Shelford, 85, of Bradley entered into the heavenly gates on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, following a long illness.

Born July 5, 1927, in Lowman, New York, he was the son of the late Wiley and Ruth Murphey Shelford.

Gene worked in Dairy industry in New York; after moving to West Virginia he was employed at Appalachian Bible College, and then he became a longtime employee of the Christian Bookstore here in Beckley, where he retired. He was a longtime member and deacon of the Calloway Heights Community Church now known as Fellowship Bible Church of Skelton.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Harry, Donald, and Leslie Shelford, his grandson Aaron Daniel Shelford, and his granddaughter Kristen Ledwell.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 58 years Betty Marie Smith Shelford, his two sons Daniel Lee Shelford and his wife Tammy of Nettie, Timothy Lynn Shelford and his wife Elizabeth of Hatfield, Pa. His daughter Ruth Shelford of Bradley. Four Grandchildren Cassandra, and Jennifer Shelford of Nettie, and Timothy and John Wiley Shelford of Hatfield, Pa. His sister Dorothy Parmelee of Elmira, New York. A host of nieces and  nephews, former customers and beloved friends.

Services celebrating the life and ministry of Eugene Shelford will be held Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

Donations honoring Eugene can be made to the Fellowship Bible Church.

HURT, Va. — Raymond Eugene Wills, 60, of Hurt, Va., passed away Friday, June 28, 2013.

It was Eugene’s request to be cremated. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at the Peterstown Cemetery, Giles County, Va. Those wishing to attend should meet at the cemetery by 1:30 p.m.

Randolph ‘Red’  Zimmerman

HICO — Randolph “Red” Zimmerman, 61, of Hico, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital due to complications for a recent illness.

Born on December 5, 1951, in Hico, WV, he was the son of the late Robert and Betty Zimmerman.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Zimmerman, and father-in-law Dan Nutter.

Randy served in the United States Army in the early 1970s. He was also a 30-year volunteer at the Fayetteville Methodist Church Food Pantry in Fayetteville, WV, and well known within the community for always helping others in need. Randy loved gardening, listening to country music, NASCAR, and his pets.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving, devoted wife of 39 years, Reda Zimmerman; sons, Randy Zimmerman and wife Jennifer of Hico, WV; Terrance Zimmerman and wife Sara of Meridianville, AL; and Gunnery Sergeant Robert Zimmerman (USMC) and wife Andrea of Okinawa, Japan. Nine grandchildren: Tyler, Madisyn, Katelyn, Lauren, Matthew, Juliet, Mackenzi, Cadence, and Evie Faye. He is also survived by one brother Rick Zimmerman and wife Chris of Hico, WV; six sisters: Nancy Compton of Fayetteville, WV; Cynda Gill of Bartonsville, PA; Rose Carte and husband Richard of Hico, WV; Jeanie Cole and husband Danny of Hico, WV; Diane White of Hilltop, WV; and Melody Simms and husband Scott of Hico, WV; aunt Charlene Crist and husband Clarence of Ansted, WV; uncle Willo Foster and wife Barbara of Ohio; mother-in-law Betty Nutter of Canvas, WV; family friend Amanda Ramsey of Craigsville, WV; many nieces, nephews, special friends, and his special canine companion “Bud.”

Pallbearers will be Randy’s three sons, grandson Tyler, brother Rick, brother-in-law Danny Cole, and nephews Travis Carte and Kain Carte. Funeral services will be Sunday, July 7, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted, WV, with Pastor Kenny Hayes, Pastor Bob Piotrowski, and Reverend Freddie Parkins officiating. Burial will follow at Legg Family Cemetery on Stringtown Road in Hico, WV.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Ansted, WV.
