BOLT — Terry Dale Blankenship, 60, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Bowers Hospice House.
Born August 31, 1951, in Williamson, WV, he was the son of the late Otis and Lovis Norman Blankenship. Terry was a mobile equipment operator for Peabody Coal. He enjoyed playing guitar, hunting, fishing, the outdoors and riding his horse “Lil Man.” Terry loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Sue Blevins Blankenship; daughter, Terri (Nikki) Blankenship of Bolt; sons, Stephen Blankenship and wife Stephanie of Ashland, Ky., James Blankenship of Bolt; granddaughters, Ashley, Haley, Kaitlin and Emma Blankenship and sisters, Margie Madden, Betty Spencer and Pam Blankenship.
Following Terry’s wishes, his body will be cremated. The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
The family suggests that donations in Terry’s memory be made to Bowers Hospice House, 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley, WV 25801.

We celebrate the life of Sandra Kay Blevins, 64, of MacArthur, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012.
Born August 8, 1947, she was the daughter of the late William and Lottie Gray Riddle.
Sandra enjoyed reading, painting, playing piano, puzzles and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Sandra was president of the Mark Twain High School Reunion and had been previously employed with Raleigh General Hospital for several years.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Blevins of MacArthur; daughters, Barbara Whitehair and husband Timmy of Mt. Hope, Jerri Zepeda and husband Mike of Spartanburg, S.C.; grandsons Jimmy Whitehair, Brandon Whitehair; granddaughters, Jennifer Whitehair, Lauren Pennington, Morgan Zepeda; great-grandson, Brayden Whitehair; brother Bill Riddle and wife Toni and sister Sally Janutolo and husband John.
A celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Barbara D. DeBusk
Barbara D. DeBusk, 93, died peacefully at Glenwood Park Retirement Village on Monday, March 26, 2012. Mrs. DeBusk had been a resident of The Havens in Princeton for the past 10 years.
Born March 17, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Emma Nutter DeBusk and Robert Franklin DeBusk. She spent her childhood in Giles County, Va., and had been a resident of Princeton for 60 years.
Mrs. DeBusk was a nurse for John I. Markell, MD during the ’50s and ’60s until her marriage to the late Dr. Fred G. DeBusk in 1971. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Princeton. She used her love of crafting to serve God by creating many of the Chrismon ornaments still used by the church today. She was an avid bridge player.
She was also preceded in death by sisters, Frances Stafford, Sue Deck, Jean Burris, and Betty Ann Wheeler and by one brother, Paul Edward DeBusk.
She is survived by a son, William L. Piper of Brunswick, Ga.; and a daughter, Susan Piper Pietrantozzi and husband Gene of Beaver, W.Va. Surviving grandchildren are Tracy Piper Hamer and husband Charles and their children, Abigail and Ben, all of Lerona; Scott Piper of Nashville, Tenn., Christopher James Piper and wife Amy and their children, Alex and Emma all of Knoxville, Tenn., and Cameron Miller Piper and Jennifer Morris both of Darien, Ga. She is also survived by brothers, Robert F. DeBusk Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Bossier City, La. and Richard A. DeBusk and wife Earlyn of Pearisburg, Va.; a sister, Doris Thomas and husband Ted of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sara Hahn Piper of Knoxville, Tenn.; extended family and loving caregivers, Eddie Matthews, Shelley Denham and the staff and residents at The Havens who became a part of her family.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2012, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Bill Pollack officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

BUD — Mary Ellen Estes, 80, passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in Raleigh General Hospital following a short illness.
Born April 4, 1931, at Princeton she was the daughter of the late Otis Lee (OL) and Dora (Rorrer) Wolfe.
In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by three sons, Patrick Wayne, Barry Hans, and Benny Blaine Estes; two brothers, Clyde Wolfe and William “Bill” Wolfe Sr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Furrow and Ruby DeLuca.
Mary was a homemaker and prior to moving to Bud two years ago she had been a 41-year resident of Basin. In her leisure she enjoyed gardening especially tending to her flowers, quilting and making apple butter. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, Robert Wayne “Bob” Estes; two daughters, Bobbie Ellen Burrell and her husband, Lenford of Bud and Tina Baisel and her husband, Joseph of Bud; two sons, Sharven Lee Estes of Basin and Ricky Allen Estes and his wife, Marsha of Oceana; three sisters, Janice Harmon of Princeton, Kathleen Copen of Michigan, and Helen Halsey of Princeton; six grandchildren, Dr. Carmen Burrell, Dr. T. Lindsey Burrell, Steven Burrell, Shawn Foley, Sharven Lee Estes, II, and Zachary Estes; three great grandchildren, Bryson Burrell-Cox, Madison and Summer; three step-grandchildren, Pamela Mills, Lenford Burrell, Jr., and Dee Burrell-Workman; four step-great grandchildren, a special caregiver, Pam Carter, and numerous other family members and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in the Bud Cemetery, Bud.

Betty Sue Humphreys Hazelwood
ROCK CAMP — Betty Sue Humphreys Hazelwood, age 86, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV.
Born August 19, 1925, at Logan, WV, she was the daughter of the late Lannie and Anna Maud Bare Humphreys.
Betty was mainly a homemaker but had worked for a time with the WV Home Extension Office at Union, WV, and at the Celanese Corp. She was an active member of the Rock Camp United Methodist Church where she had served as Sunday School teacher. She and her late husband, Russell Grayson “Jack” Hazelwood, did Lay Witness Missions for 25 years. Betty and Jack had volunteered at the Princeton Community Hospital for over 25 years. She had been residing at Country View Assisted Living for the past six years.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Humphreys and Garnet Martin, and four brothers, Paul “Bill,” Bob, Mark and Ralph Humphreys.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Hazelwood and wife Shirley of Rocky Mount, VA., Mick Hazelwood and wife Deby of Chattanooga, TN, Bob Hazelwood and wife Mary Alice of Lindside, WV, daughter Carol Meadows of Elkton, VA, a sister, Mary Compton of Cleveland, OH, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at the Rock Camp United Methodist Church with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Swope Cemetery, Lindside, WV with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Holland was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, Beckley.

Patton Clay Hylton, 58, of Beckley, WV, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2012, following a long illness at Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston. WV.
Born September 14, 1953, in Mullens, WV, he was the son of the late Edna May Hylton and Isac William Hylton.
He resided in Beckley, WV with this loving wire of 40 years, Mary Hylton. He also leaves behind 2 loving daughters and their families, Patricia Fraley of Crab Orchard and son-in-law James Fraley and granddaughter Elisha Fraley; Angie Harrah of Beckley and son-in-law Matthew Harrah and granddaughter Abigail Harrah; siblings include the late Raymond Hylton of Alabama and his wife Linda and son Christopher, the late Teddy Cole of Glen Jean and his wife Janie, Isac Hylton Jr. (Ike) of Charlotte, N.C., and his wife Chip and their daughter Susan, Diane Wampler of Stotesbury and her husband Roger and their children Lisa, Roger Jr., Billy, Timothy, Emily; Margaret Byrge of Beckley and her husband Jim , their children Jimmy, Jody, Michelle Jason, Josh and Mike Hylton of Salisbury and his wife Rhonda and their daughter Joni; 4 nieces 7 nephews on the wife’s side.
He worked at Banner Coal Company for 22 years as a miner operator. He loved his job. He also loved NASCAR, fishing and playing golf with his brother Ike on the computer. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a huge family man. He was a very loving, doting husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He never knew an enemy and anyone that knew Pat loved him. He will be greatly missed.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2012, at Williams Blue Ridge Funeral Home Sophia with Pastor Sam Peterson officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

William “Bill” Lambert, 80, of Sophia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.
Born March 16, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Lorain Quesenberry Lambert.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his wife and grandchildren. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Sophia First Baptist Church. Bill served in the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Edward and Eddie Joe Lambert; sisters Margaret Ashby and Shelby J. Baker; several in-laws; and a special brother-in-law he helped raise, Stephen Ashby.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 51-1/2 years, Phyllis Ashby Lambert of Sophia; son, Pastor Kenneth Blaine Lambert and wife Tammy of Sophia; granddaughters, Heather Bolen and husband Doug of Coal City, Mari Yost and husband Corey of Crab Orchard; 4 great-grandchildren, Chance, Audrianna, and Bailee Bolen, and Lailyn Yost; 3 sisters, Gladys Milleson, Fayleen Utt, Brenda Weikle and brother Johnny Lambert.

Dennis Paul Lester
Dennis Paul Lester, 60, of Steeles Hollow, W.Va, passed away on Monday March 26, 2012, at his home. He was born June 6, 1951, in Welch, W.Va. a son of the late Luster and Violet Mae Riffe Lester.
He was a loving man with a good heart and was especially fond of the elderly and children.
In addition to his parents, a sister Phyllis Kennedy, a brother Herbert Lester and a sister-in-law Joyce Toler also preceded him in death.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Anett Neva Cline Lester; two daughters Rebecca Renae Lester of Hanover and Leanna Faith Lester of Steele Hollow; five sons Dennis Craig Lester of VA, Adam (Lora) Toler of Oceana, Brian Toler of Kopperston, Shane (Teresa) Toler of Cyclone and Brad Green of KY; 11 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; three very special nephews Gary (Robin) Kennedy, Doug Kennedy and fiancée Terri Lusk and Randy (Patsy) Kennedy; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Pauline Argabrite Hedrick Meadows, age 99 of Daniels, WV, formerly of Alderson, WV, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at the Summit of Hidden Valley in Oak Hill, WV, after a short illness.
Born on April 14, 1912, at Alderson, WV, she was the daughter of the late Fal L. Hedrick and Nellie Bibb Hedrick.
Mrs. Meadows was a homemaker, and a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church at Alderson, where she was a member of the Homemaker’s Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Meadows had made her home at Daniels for the past 16 years. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends.
Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Cephus Meadows, a son Cecil Cephus Meadows Jr., a sister, Helen Hedrick Smithson, and by two brothers Charles B. Hedrick, and Robert Cecil Hedrick. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Dreama Lee Warren and her husband James of Daniels.
Six grandchildren, James Warren Jr. and his wife Victoria of Greeneville, TN., Marsha Fralin of Daniels, WV; Nova Jackson and her husband Kevin of Daniels, Kelly Ibere and her husband Craig, Marvin Meadows, Becky Bernardi and her husband Tony, all of Arthur, IL.
10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren are also among her survivors.
Special friends, JoAnn Todd, Sherry Johnson, Lyn Maurtiz, Ellen Buckland, and Sandra Miller. The family extends special thanks to the Summit and Hidden Valley Health Care Center for their excellent care and support.

He was the son of the late Herbert and Lena Tyree Toney and was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Toney; sisters, Patricia Hall, Flora Kate Burroughs, and Olga Layne and brothers, James Wells, Ronald Toney and Ralph Toney.
Surviving is his step-daughter, Donna Shoffner and husband, Frankie; step-granddaughter, Shelia McPherson and step-great-grandson, John McPherson, all of Liberty; Glora Deeds of Ohio and Phyllis Spencer, Billye Lowery and Lois Jackson of West Virginia and brother, Richard Toney of Reidsville and many other loving extended family members.

Born May 29, 1947, at Pax, she was the daughter of the late Arnie and Golda Maynor Toney. She was employed with the Med Surg Group of Fayetteville, WV and was a member of the Long Branch Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Cynthia Tyree of Knoxville, TN and Elizabeth “Beth” Yurkovich and husband George of Pax, WV. One sister, Penny Williamson and husband Richard of Alpharetta, GA and two grandchildren: Kathryn and Nathan Yurkovich of Pax.
