Delma Domingues Anderson

Delma Domingues Anderson, age 75, of Beckley, WV, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2014, at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born on July 15, 1938, at Meade, WV, she was the daughter of the late Joe Domingues and Mavis Bishop Domingues.

Mrs. Anderson was a former pharmacy technician for Colony Drug in Beckley, and was a member of the Packs Branch Missionary Baptist Church. She loved being around people and going to the Donut Connection. Mrs. Anderson had made her home in Beckley since 1974.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Anderson.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include her son, Wes Anderson and his companion Sarah Corley of Beckley, a grandson Steven Anderson and his wife Cora of Shady Spring.

Two brothers, Raymond Domingues and his wife Letha of Beckley, and Manuel Domingues  of Newport News, Virginia.

Two sisters, Deloris Thomas of Mt. Airy, Maryland, and Darlene Ellen Fink and her husband Donald of Beckley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tommy Anderson officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Beckley. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Peggy L. Blackburn

OCEANA — Peggy L. Blackburn, 68, walked through Heaven’s gate meeting family members awaiting her arrival on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Bowers Hospice House.

Born October 13, 1945, at Kopperston, she was the daughter of the late James Otis and Lucille Goddard Cook.

Peggy was administrative assistant for Otis Cook Motor Sales, member and former president of A.B.W., member of Oceana Women’s Club, a member of Toneda Missionary Baptist Church where she served as pianist and piano teacher and was an interior decorator. She also enjoyed gardening and animals. Peggy was a loving and nurturing mother and “Mimi.”

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Blackburn, and an infant daughter, Angela Dawn Blackburn.

Those left to cherish her memory are a son, Vernon Blackburn and wife, Trisha, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; a daughter, Toni Stewart and husband, Ralph, of Oceana; a brother, Donnie Cook and wife, Patricia, of Radford, Va.; a sister-in-law, Sharon Blankenship of Oceana; three grandchildren, Marina and Cody Lee Stewart and Shania Blackburn; three nephews, Jim Cook and wife, Dawn, of Oceana, Rodney Cook and wife, Lisa, of Flatwoods and Donald Cook II and wife, Tara, of Bristol, Tenn.; three nieces, Shane Cook Hawk and husband, Darrin, of Greenville, S.C., Melissa Stump of Dublin, Va., and Melissa Childress and husband, Rod, of Holden Beach, N.C.; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Toneda Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. James Hamrick and Rev. Jerry Cook officiating. Peggy will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Casketbearers will be Jim Cook, Cody Stewart, Rodney Cook, Johnny Maynard, Ron Altizer II and Fairley Jewell.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel.
