Charles ‘Charlie’ Compton

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. — Charles “Charlie” Compton, 67, died Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Charlie was born February 9, 1947, the son of the late Offeral E. and Daisy (Cadle) Compton at Mossy, West Virginia. He graduated from Collins High School in Oak Hill, West Virginia, in 1964.

Charlie retired in 2009 from Nucor Fastener. He was a Duke basketball fan but his passion was competitive fishing. He competed in many professional and amateur tournaments throughout the United States.

On October 5, 1991, he was united in marriage to Tammy Caperton. She survives along with a son Chuck (Barb Arens) Compton and a daughter Joanna (Eric) Schuman both of Omaha, Nebraska. He has two grandchildren Natalie and Katie, a brother Russell (Nancy) Compton and a sister Anna Lee Compton both of Mossy, West Virginia, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers Freddie and Joe.

The funeral service for Charlie will be held at Smith & Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 2 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Hicksville, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Noble County Humane Society.

James Ervin Grizzel

RENICK — James Ervin Grizzel, 76, of Renick died April 18, 2014.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at Morgan Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Frankford. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ethel Elizabeth Holt

GREEN SULPHUR SPRINGS — Mrs. Ethel Elizabeth Holt, 93, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at Lick Creek Baptist Church.

Mrs. Holt was a native and lifelong resident of Green Sulphur Springs. She moved to Greenville, NC, in January of this year to be with her granddaughter, Jennifer Stancill. She was an avid gardener and loved animals.

Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin Holt; son, Larry Foster; and daughters, Pat Woods, Esther Barnett.

She is survived by her son, Alden Foster and wife, Pat, of Calico Rock, AR; sisters, Hazel Gray of Summersville, WV, and Esther Belle Thomas of Greenfield, IN; brother, Hurley Legg and wife, Evelyn, of Meridian, ID; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
