On Saturday, Nov. 3rd, 2012, our most cherished Linda Meadows of Prosperity passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. She was 64 years of age.
One of eight children, Linda Jean Collier was born on April 27th, 1948, at Oak Hill. Her parents were the late Carlos and Ardith Lafferty Collier. A brother, Rick Collier, a Vietnam Veteran, has preceded her in death.
A faithful member of the United Methodist Temple, Linda loved her church and sang in the church choir, where she was active until her health began to fail. Linda and two of her friends, Patty Clark and Sharon Johnson, founded the “New Life Singers” and for seven plus years, they sang at over 100 revivals, reunions, and homecomings at various churches.
Employed as a financial secretary for the Raleigh County Board of Education, Linda had 32 years of service with the board.
Linda had a passion for painting. She painted in the media of oil and acrylics and created over 75 canvases.
At the end of the day when we her family recall Linda, we will remember a devoted wife and mother who was very wise.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Bob; she was the loving mother of Bobby; the dear sister of June Wood and her husband, Steve, Sue Rose, Coral Wood and her husband, George, Carolyn Megimose, Jane Duran and her husband, Paul, Naomi Humphrey and her husband, Paige; and her ever faithful border collie, Tess.
On Thursday, Nov. 8th, at 1 p.m. we will remember the life of Linda Meadows with a “Service of Remembrance” at the United Methodist Temple. Pastors Randy Adkins and Dan Johnson will be officiating. Linda will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 7th, at the Melton Mortuary from 6 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
