Iona Mildred Miller Burgess Cummings

MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — Iona Mildred Miller Burgess Cummings, 92, of Mechanicsville, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Hill Baptist Church, 613 Lundale Drive, Oak Hill WV 25901.

Brian Lee Emerson Duckett Sr.

RAINELLE — Brian Lee Emerson Duckett Sr., 61, of Lilly Park, died suddenly from injuries received in an automobile accident, early Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, 2014.

Born Aug. 9, 1952, in Rainelle, he was the son of the late Harold and Ruth Virginia Anderson Duckett.

Brian was a carpenter, a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and of the Christian faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Duckett.

Survivors include two sons: Michael Lee Duckett of Tennessee and Brian Lee E. Duckett Jr. of Maryland; a sister, Anita Osthagen of Rainelle; a brother, Harold Curtis Duckett Jr. and wife, Tammy Shaffer of Indiana; and a grandson, Alex Duckett of Tennessee.

As was his wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Please send online condolences to:

Gerald ‘Jed’ Ashley Fleshman

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Memorial service for Gerald “Jed” Ashley Fleshman, 90, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Fleshman died Sunday, January 19, 2014. Born in Beckley, W.Va., he was a son of the late Mayson C. Fleshman and Mattie H. Michael Fleshman.

Mr. Fleshman served his country during World War II while in the Navy, he was a high school business teacher for over 30 years and was a member of the Kilbourne Park Baptist Church where he served in many capacities.

Surviving are his son, Gerald “Jerry” A. Fleshman II of Winston Salem, N.C.; daughter, Susan Fleshman Manship of Alexandria, Va. and their families.

In addition to his wife, Cylene “Sally” Perry Fleshman, he was predeceased by his brother, Jim Fleshman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, 4205 Kilbourne Road, Columbia, SC 29206.
