Sybil E. Miller Adkins
HOLDEN — Sybil E. Miller Adkins, 80, of Holden died Friday, June 6, 2014.
Funeral services will at 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, with the Rev. Rodney Spears officiating. Singers will be Ella Mae Workman and Jane Meadows. A special poem will be read by Debbie Barnett. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Friends may call on the family from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Barbara Jean Burford Bane
Barbara Jean Burford Bane passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, following a long illness.
Born on October 31, 1935, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Zach and Gladys Boothe Burford.
Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, and also graduated from Beckley Collage where she received an associate’s degree in Elementary education in 1965. She worked in various jobs during her adult life: a sales clerk at E.M. Payne Co., a telephone operator and service representative at C&P Telephone company and at Universal Corporation as a pricing clerk for six years. She was last employed by the First Christian Church in Beckley from 1981 until 1988.
Barbara suffered with bouts of depression but she was a compassionate person. She was a blood donor in her desire to reach out to others. Barbara also loved church and was attending the North Beckley Church of Christ where she was a member for several years. In 1996 she received her blood donor certificate for her donation of a 5-gallon total amount of blood donated to the American Red Cross.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Benjamin H. Bane Sr., her Son Ben Bane II, her brother Robert Burford.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son Bradley Bane, her grandsons Bryan and Blake all of Crab Orchard, Two sisters Margaret Buchanan, and Ann Neal and her husband David, two brothers Zach Burford and Lewis Burford. A host of nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
Services will be Monday June 9, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home with Pastor Vondie Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley, WV.
Friends may gather with the family from noon until service time Monday at the funeral home.
