Willie Gertrude Dunn Bailey, lifelong resident of Lester, left this earthly life on Sunday, June 1, 2014, to join all of her preceding family members including her loving husband, Sidney “Billy” Bailey; parents, Thomas and Josie Webb Dunn; siblings, Mary Dunn Trail, Myrl Dunn Kelly Bragg, Paul Dunn and infants Ruth and Henry.
She was the last member of the Thomas and Josie Dunn family.

Eva E. Bradley
UNION — Eva E. Bradley, age 89, of Union, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at her residence.
Born August 10, 1924, at Sarton, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Guy and Oma Long Erskin.
Eva was a homemaker and loved gardening and working in her flower beds. She had worked as a cook in the school system in New Jersey and later she worked as a cook at Ashely’s IGA in Union. She was a member of the Indian Creek Community Club, Monroe County Gardening Club, Quilting Club, and was a member of the St. Johns United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Weikle; a daughter Louise Decker; three brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include her husband of 23 years, Charles E. “Edwin” Bradley of Union; two sons, Roger Lee Weikle and wife Doris of Atco, N.J. and Ralph E. Weikle and wife Debbie of Pine Hill, N.J.; one sister, Jane Knight of Detroit, Mich.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with Rev. Patty Adkins and Rev. Herman Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Alexander Church Cemetery at Sarton, W.Va. Friends may call Thursday, June 5, 2014, from 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m.

Mr. Joseph Edward Cox Sr., 70, of Beckley, died Saturday, May 31, 2014.
Born May 19, 1944, in Tams, W.Va., he was the son of the late Nelson Cox and Gladys Hurt.
Mr. Cox was a graduate of Byrd Prillerman High School, retired bus driver for Raleigh County Commission on Aging and a member of Heart of God Ministries.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Cox Jr.; infant son, Steve Cox; and his wife, Paulette Cox.
Those left to cherish precious memories are his children, Phillip Smith, Frederick South, Dionco South, Shane Cox, Johnny Ray, Jeremy Smith, Alisha Johnson, Lavinia Johnson, Antwonia Bullock, Shanetta Bullock, Nikki, and Drema Carson; step-children, Damien Tunstalle, Shakela Tunstalle, Courtney Davis, and Shenna Davis; brothers, James (Millie) Cox and Howard (Jessie) Cox; sisters, Virgie Jackson, Mary Wiltz, and Barbara Mizell; special friend, Charlene Davis; special nephew, Kenny Cox Sr.; and host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be noon on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 South Kanawha St., Beckley, with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

PRINCETON — Russell Eugene Hann, 59, of Mikee Street, Princeton, died peacefully Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with his family by his side in Roanoke, Va.
He was born in Hanover, Pa., on August 12, 1954, and was the son of Helen Krumrine Liller Hann and the late Donald Eugene Hann.
He was the president of Mountaineer Life Lines Bingo in Princeton and Mountain State Hand’s On Bingo in Oak Hill, W.Va.
Russ loved to cook, garden, and woodwork and tinker but most of all taking care of his beloved wife “Dottie O.” He was a member of the Grace Christian Church on Athens Road in Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-daughter Roxanna Colvard.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Dorothy Leona Timbs Trigg Hann better known as “Dottie O”. Children, Russell Hann Jr., Becky Shifflet; step-children, Torey Trigg, Janna Rose, Jeffrey Williams, Deanna Lambert; one sister, Rose Beacham and her husband Gus of Reymar, Md.; one brother, Randy Hann of Manchester, Md.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
On Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 11 a.m. we will celebrate the life of Russell (Russ) Eugene Hann from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor David Deskins officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum in Princeton.

CHARLESTON — John Joseph Holovic Jr., 75, of Charleston, went to be with the Lord Friday, May 30, 2014, at home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Holovic, and his daughter Teresa O’Connor.
He was a retired clerk and mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and a member of the Bible Center Church, Charleston. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 - 1961.
He is survived by daughter, Cathi Holovic Richards of South Charleston; two sons: Daniel J. Holovic, (Valeska Schrader) of Beckley, Scott E. Holovic of Raleigh, NC; stepson, Mark Holtsclaw of Fishers, IN, and step-daughter, Melondy Mooney of Charleston; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Service will be 12 noon on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Bible Center Church 100 Bible Center Drive, South Charleston, with Pastor Chad Cowan officiating. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the church.

MOUNT HOPE — Franklin Delano Jacks, 78, of Mount Hope, died on Sunday, June 1, 2014, at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop, W.Va.
Born June 19, 1935, at Liggett, Ky., he was the son of the late Willie and Louise Stines Jacks.
He was a retired co-owner/operator for Plastics Factory in Akron, Ohio and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Franklin was the last survivor of his three brothers and three sisters. He has preceded in death by his long time companion, Clara Burgess.
Survivors include step daughter, Brenda Burgess of Oak Hill; granddaughter, McKayla Burgess of Oak Hill; two nieces, Patricia Garcia and Debra Jacks; and nephew, Lonnie Wykle.
Also surviving are extended family, Jennifer Underwood and family; sisters-in-law, Roberta Jacks, Barbara Williams and Dorothy Sawyer, along with several additional nieces and nephews.
At his request, Mr. Jacks was cremated. Graveside rites and committal will be on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill with Pastor Jennifer Underwood officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation.

Lacy Michael ‘Mike’ Lafferty
MCGRAWS — Lacy Michael “Mike” Lafferty, 58, of McGraws, passed on Monday, June 2, 2014, following a long illness.
Born December 7, 1955, at Pineville, he was the son of Freda Shumate and the late Lacy Melvin Lafferty
Mike was a member of the Church of God of Ravencliff. He enjoyed working, hunting, his grandchildren and being with his family. Mr. Lafferty was a loyal and dedicated worker with the RMS-PSD in McGraws for 23 years as a Class 4 Water Plant Operator.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Catherine Nelson Lafferty of the residence; his mother, Freda Shumate Conner and her husband, Leroy of McGraws; two daughters, Melanie Meadows and her husband, Pete of McGraws and Shanna Lilly and her husband, Mike of Beckley; a sister, Glenna Cozort and her husband, Kenny of McGraws; a step-brother, David Conner of Lynco; a step-sister, Teresa Conner of Lynco; and 10 grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Church of God, Ravencliff with the Rev. Ernest Francis officiating. Burial will follow in the Bower Family Cemetery, Twin Falls.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from noon until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.

BALLARD — Cecil Edward Thompson, 85, of Ballard, passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Rich Creek, Va., following a long illness.
Born in Buck, W.Va., on January 4, 1929, he was the son of the late James C. and Minnie Campbell Thompson.
Cecil was a retired press operator for the TRW Corp. of Detroit, Mich.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Lee, Frank, Russell, Ray, Otis, and John Thompson, as well as two sisters, Ruth Lemon and Catherine Frith, and one daughter, Denise Cirelli.
He is survived by son Cecil G. “Gerry” Thompson and wife Ann of Chicago, Ill., daughter Jeanette Esteviz of Indiana; sister Pearl Mann of Red Sulphur Springs, and nephew and caregiver James McKinney of Ballard, W.Va. as well as several other nieces and nephews. Three grandchildren also survive.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Huffman Cemetery in Buck. Pastor George Cook will officiate.

James Donald ‘Jim’ Zutaut
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — James Donald Zutaut, (Jim), of Huntsville, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family.
James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Magdaline James “Billy” Zutaut of Huntsville, Ala., one daughter, Joanna Carroll of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Steve of Huntsville, Ala. and James “Jim” Zutaut and his wife Cindy, of Crofton, Md., three grandchildren, Kate “Katie” Carroll, Mindy (Tim) Puzycki, Sean Zutaut.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy and also the U.S. Air Force, having served for 20 years.
Jim was quite the family man and loved to fix cars and had a constant desire for learning, setting a great example for his other family members. He also worked with the U.S. Government in Civil Service for a number of years mainly in procurement. Upon his retirement, he and Billy loved to travel. He will be dearly loved and missed by many.
He was born Aug. 15, 1928, at Wickham, W.Va., to Joanna Lee Willis Zutaut and Adam John Zutaut of Beckley. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Grover Zutaut, Ed Zutaut, Robert Zutaut and George (Skip) Zutaut.
He is also survived by four brothers, Willis Zutaut of Pleasant Ridge, Mich., John Zutaut of East Lansing, Mich., Ches Zutaut of Fayetteville, Tenn. and Paul Zutaut of Beckley and three sisters, Betty Higginbotham of Greenville, S.C., Patricia Berkeley of Harrisburg, Pa., and Diana Slone of Mabscott, W.Va.
Visitation with the family was held 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Valhalla Funeral Home, Huntsville, Ala. Services were held in Valhalla’s Chapel, with Dr. Bobby Burt commencing at 2 p.m. Interment immediately followed in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 117 Longwood Dr. SE, Huntsville, Ala. 35801.
