Charles Clifford Groves

WHITESVILLE — Charles Clifford Groves, 84, of Whitesville, passed away May 9, 2014.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at the Sylvester Baptist Church, Sylvester, with Pastor David Minturn officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Military rites will be conducted. Friends may call two hours prior to the services Thursday at the church.

Emma Josephine Jenkins

Emma Jo left us to join Ella Sue, her beloved mother, after a long and very brave battle with COPD, on Monday, May 12, 2014.

Emma Josephine Jenkins was born on August 8, 1936, in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, the oldest child of the late Ella Sue and Cornelius Moore.

In addition to her parents, Emma Jo was predeceased by her sister, Connie Moore.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeffrey Neil Jenkins and girlfriend Mandy Westbrook, and Franklin Scott Jenkins and wife Corrine Sue Jenkins; grandchildren, Bianca Denea, Tallon Jenkins and Journey Conley Jenkins; along with many very special friends and neighbors; and her loving companions, Winnie and Pooh.

Emma was an extremely strong-willed woman who was known for being very giving, loving, and hard-working her entire life. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and a great friend to many.

Dana Lester Keeney

COMFORT — Dana Lester Keeney, 74, of Comfort, W.Va., passed away Monday, May 12, 2014.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, with the Rev. Roger Halstead officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery at Orgas. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bobby Ray Lemon

Bobby Ray Lemon, 74, of Arnett, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his home after a long illness.

He was born May 22, 1939, at Saxon, W.Va., a son of the late Virgil and May Cook Lemon.

He was a member of Flat Branch Baptist Church and Deacon having served for 25 years in that position. Bobby had been serving the Lord over 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Virgil Lemon Jr., Jimmy Joe Lemon; sisters, Naoma Kennan, Nadine Brown and June Skeens; and first wife, Maxine Daniel; stepson, Lloyd Lee Daniel. He is survived by his loving wife, Letha Sue Cook Lemon, David Q. Lemon and wife, Linda, of Arnett, Charles Cook and wife, Ellen, of Toledo, Ohio, James Lemon and wife, Shirley, of Arnett, W.Va.; sister, Sandra Grimm and husband, Dale, of New Haven, W.Va., Gail Clay of Arnett, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Judy Taylor of North Carolina and Reitha Edwards of Calif.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Flat Branch Baptist Church, Arnett, with Pastor Gene Miller and Pastor Andrew Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Lemon Family Cemetery, Arnett.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Lemon, Rob Lemon, Dale Lemon, Scott Lemon, Brian Lemon and Joe Lemon.

Friends may call 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
