ALDERSON — Denise Annette Conine Baker, 59, of Alderson, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2013.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Flat Mountain Baptist Church, on Flat Mountain Road, Alderson, with the Rev. Gary Baker officiating.

LEWISBURG — Nancy Adeline Bradley, 86, of Lewisburg, formerly of Gray, Tenn., passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013.

It was Nancy’s request to be cremated. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andy Howdock officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

PINEVILLE — Edith Halsey Brooks, 92, of Pineville, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013.

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Lorraine E. Gabbert, 86, of White Sulphur Springs, formerly of Renick, passed away Thursday night.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Woodland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Auto, with the Rev. Bobby McClintic and the Rev. Buck Caldwell officiating. There will be no visitation.

RAINELLE — Elberta Delvira Gill, 92, of Rainelle, died May 22, 2013.

Peter Gorsky Sr.

Peter Gorsky, Sr., 81, of Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 23, 2013.

Born June 19, 1931, in Scranton, PA, to the late John and Mary Butch Gorsky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Virginia Kopec Gorsky; two brothers, John Gurski from Bound Brook, NJ, and Joseph Gorsky from Old Bridge, NJ; and a sister, Madeline Bilanin from Linden, NJ.

Those left to cherish his memory include a sister, Irene Sworen of Pine Brook, NJ; a son, Peter J. Gorsky and wife, Patricia, of Beckley; a daughter, Deborah I. Quinn and husband, John, of Beckley;  5 grandchildren, Courtney Wilson and husband, Joshua, of Daniels, Bethany Quinn of Beckley, Elizabeth Raney and husband, Brian, of Beckley, Mary Crawford and husband, Terry, of Beckley, James Suddreth and wife, Megan, of Beckley; 7 great-grandchildren, Catelyn and Joshua Wilson, Bailey McIntruff, Lucas Raney, Lakyn and Lani Misch, and Kelsey Suddreth; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mr. Gorsky was a faithful member of Calvary Assembly of God, Beckley.

He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force in the Korean War from 1952 to 1955 as a Staff Sergeant. He was the owner of Stanaford Tire Shop from 1973 until 1985 and established WV License Service until he retired in 2006. He was employed by Breeze Corp, Ford Motor Company and General Motors all in New Jersey and Lee Norse Corp and an Agent for Peoples Life in Beckley.

A service to Celebrate the life of Peter Gorsky will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, at Calvary Assembly of God, Beckley, with Pastor John K. Jordan officiating. Following the services Mr. Gorsky will be entombed at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may gather with the family from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the church.

Charles Edward Marshall

Charles Edward Marshall, age 76, of Cool Ridge, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 23, 2013, following a long illness.

Born January 7, 1936, to the late Charley Marshall and Lena Bryant Marshall.

Mr. Marshall was an avid outdoorsman and loved to camp and be on the river. He was also a fan of NASCAR. He loved his family and took pride in the appearance of his house and yard. He was also a member and deacon of Cool Ridge Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Katherine Reynolds, Evelyn Donaldson, and Geraldine Grant; brothers, Cletus and Arthur Marshall.

Those surviving include his loving wife of 57 years, Mrs. Marie Marshall; sons, Gary Marshall and wife Rose of Cool Ridge and Alan Marshall also of Cool Ridge; brothers, Harold, Aubry, and Larry Marshall; sisters, Glora Clark and Heidi Harrison; grandchildren, Holly Carr, T.J. Walker, and Little Gary Wyatt; and great-grandchildren, Ethan and Danielle Carr.

Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, May 26, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Shady Spring Chapel with Rev. Roger Richmond officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Pallbearers will be Curtis Stalans, Roger Richmond, Ronnie Rife, Eugene Petry, Daniel Carr, and Matthew Stalans.

Visitation will be held the same afternoon on Sunday at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p.m.

Letha L. Sizemore

Letha Louise Sizemore, 92, of Lester, formerly of Bud, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, following a long illness.

Born April 12, 1921, at Bud, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Rebecca (Mitchem) Lester.

Letha was a homemaker. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and an amazing grandmother. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Letha Sizemore left a great legacy and will be missed and loved by many.

In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, William Fred Sizemore; a son, William A. Sizemore; an infant brother and sister; sisters, Susie Miller, Vada Wiles, and Viola Dickerson; and brothers, Elzie, Lacy, and Jimmy Lester.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Loretta “Mary” Lawson and her husband, Bob, of Lester, whom she had lived with for the past six years, and Kaye Dunn and her husband, Lynndall, of Bud; her son, Calvin Sizemore and his wife, Sylvia, of Shady Spring; a daughter-in-law, Florina Sizemore; a brother, Luther Lester and his wife, Nancy, of Bud; a sister, Polly Sizemore of Turkey Creek; five granddaughters, Donna Asbury, Teresa White, Lenora Hagerman, Kandi Belcher, and Kelli Embrescia; four grandsons, Daniel Lawson, Bruce and Greg Sizemore, and Anthony Dunn; three stepgrandsons, Kenny and Wayne Lester and Bryan Laxton; seven great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2013, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jerry Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Ridge Cemetery, Bud Mtn.

Friends may call Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
