James Lloyd Adkins
KINCAID — James Lloyd Adkins, 82, of Kincaid, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.
Born August 20, 1931, at Kincaid, he was the son of the late Carbet Earl and Beatrice Marie Kincaid Adkins.
Mr. Kincaid was a retired coal miner.
He was a rescue squad member and served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. James was a very friendly people person. He loved gardening and sharing the bounty of his harvest with family and friends and was an avid hunter.
A brother Charles Edward Adkins preceded him in death.
He leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife of 61 years, Ethel L. Shaver Adkins; son, Lloyd Dewayne Adkins of Smithers, Canada; daughter, Sheila Ann Walker of Oak Hill; four grandchildren, Keith Stanley and wife, Terri, of Kincaid, Jennifer Stanley and partner, Shelly of Charleston, Brandon Adkins and wife, Jamie of Kentucky and Troy Adkins of Tennessee; and five great grandchildren, Kevin, Alexis, Issack, Xavier and Brook.
Also surviving are two sisters, Phyllis Ann Ludwig and husband Lee of Peterstown and Sharon Sue Robertson and husband L.A of Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Pastor Delmas Wolfe officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill with military graveside rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post No. 3110.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Kincaid United Methodist Church, PO Box 146, Kincaid, WV 25119.

Theresa P. Adkins
JUDSON — Theresa P. Adkins, 83, of Judson, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea following a short illness.
Born January 31, 1930, at Blakers Mill, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clark and Beatrice Martin Baker.
Ms. Adkins was a graduate of Alderson High School. She was a member of Shephard’s Care Family Worship Center in Hinton and was a caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Adkins. Also preceded by a son, Larry Shepard, two brothers, Bernard and Leo Baker and one sister, Imogene Baker Phillips.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Jennings and husband Bill of High Point, N.C.; one sister, Geraldine Burns of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Patricia Scott of High Point, N.C. and Sherri Vinroot and husband Marcus of Greensboro, N.C.; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive and a step-son, Jimmy Adkins of Judson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel in Hinton. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery at Creamery, W.Va.
