Anna Lou Browning

HICO — Anna Lou Browning, 79, of Hico, passed away at Fayette Nursing and Rehab on June 30th, 2013, following a long Illness.

Anna was born February 28, 1934, in Williamson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Leona Spry Stafford.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubal W. Browning in 2011; a sister, Maude Brewe; three brothers, Frank Stafford, Kenneth Stafford Jr., Pete Stafford; grranddaughter, Sarah Margaret (Meg).

Anna was a member of Midland Trail Gardening Club, a retired school teacher and a member of the Ansted Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and also loved gardening, tending to her flowers and painting.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Stephen Browning and John Browning both of Hico; six grandchildren, Theresa Horton, Stephen Browning II, Kathryn Browning Young, John Browning Jr., Meg Keith, Becky Ann Piccard, and 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Huffman of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted, with Pastors Jack Eades and Doug Eades officiating. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Victor.

Friends may gather with the family Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Marzee Nadine Dorsey

MT. NEBO — Marzee Nadine Dorsey, born November 4, 1920, daughter of the late Guy and Chloe Dunn entered the gates of Heaven on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Nadine worked in the office at Foodland before retiring and caring for the family farm at Mt. Nebo.

She was a regular at Nicholas County Senior Citizens and a member of the Summersville United Methodist Church.

Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Wilford Dorsey.

Those left to cherish her memory are children: Mildred (Mike) Ballard of Barboursville and Leon (Debbie) Dorsey of Mt. Nebo; hrandchildren: Sheri (Jay) Knuckles of Barboursville; Lisa (Brian) Randolph of Beckley; Christopher (Tricia) Dorsey of Huntersville, N.C. and Andrea (Scott) Torres of Jacksonville, Fla. Great-grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew and Tyler Randolph, Caleb and Taylor Dorsey and Boston, Bryce, Bailey and Brooks Torres.

Please join us in a celebration of Nadine’s life on Wednesday, June 3, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Summersville Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor David Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery at Mt. Nebo.

Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Sandra Kay Fuller

CHARLESTON — Ms. Sandra Kay Fuller, 53, of Charleston, died Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

Born March 9, 1960, in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Saul Edward and Geraldine Helen Ross Fuller.

She was a teacher’s aide for Kanawha County Board of Education and a member of Glorious Liberty Apostolic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Saul Edward Fuller, Jr.

Those left to cherish precious memories are brothers, Melvyn D. Fuller of Beckley, and James Michael (Patty) Fuller of Glen Rogers; sister, Mabel (Allen) Drafton of Lester and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, with Bishop Willie Schofield, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Bonnie Plumley Pack Helton

OAK HILL — Bonnie Plumley Pack Helton, 72, of Oak Hill, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Born at Pear, W.Va., she was the daughter of Clifford Plumley and Pansy Smith Plumley.

Mrs.  Helton was a former retail sales clerk, having retired from Kmart. She was a member of the Mt. Hope Christian Church, and had made her home at Mt. Hope for greater part of her adult life.

Mrs. Helton loved her “critters”, and enjoyed playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Dale Plumley.

Survivors include her husband, James Helton; five children: David Pack Jr. of Oak Hill,  Lisa Okes and her husband Tracy of Cool Ridge, Debbie Helton, Carol Mottram, and Sharon Helton, all of Sacramento, Cal.; two brothers, Bruce Plumley of Mt. Hope and Bert Plumley and his wife Edith of New Mexico; two sisters, Betty Jane Bennett and her husband Daris of Abraham, and Barbara Bazzie and her husband Joey of North Carolina.  Six grandchildren: Sharon Baker, Brantley Sanger, Thomas Okes, Michael Tessmann, Daniel Helton, and Jarron Mottram; great-grandchildren, Rylan Buskus, Cali Tessmann, Jeremiah Helton, Harland Todd II and Cameron Bowles.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Bonnie Pack Helton on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dennis Kinzer officiating. Burial will follow at the Washington Plumley Cemetery at Plumley Mountain.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

HANOVER — Terry Joe “Joe Bob” Holcomb, 50, died Sunday, June 30, 2013.

Stollie Yvonne Bailey Lusk

CYCLONE — Stollie Yvonne Bailey Lusk, 66, of Cyclone, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Logan Regional Medical Center, Logan.

She was born March 8, 1947 in Cyclone, a daughter of the late Jay and Ada Osborne Bailey.

She was a member of the Cyclone Church of God.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Emory Dale Lusk.

Survivors include a daughter Patricia (Kenneth) Workman of Cyclone; two son Jessie (Lena Gaye) Lusk of Cyclone, and Emory Loren (Crystal) Lusk of Cyclone; three sisters Rachel (Gordon) Workman of Cyclone, Velva Tolliver of Cyclone, and Magalene Watts of Cyclone; two brothers Stevie (Jackie) Bailey of Cyclone, and Chucky (Margaret) Bailey of Cyclone; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Cyclone Church of God, Cyclone, with Rev. Jackie Lusk, Rev. Scotty Lusk, and Rev. Keith Osborne officiating. She will be laid to rest in Osborne Cemetery, Brushy Fork Road, Cyclone.

Bonnie Furrow Meadows

LINDSIDE — Bonnie Furrow Meadows, 58, of Lindside, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital, Blacksburg, Va. following a short illness.

Born December 29, 1954, at Summers County, she was a daughter of Margaret Fox Furrow of Marie and the late Dewey Albert Furrow.

She was a homemaker who volunteered at area nursing homes where it was commented that she could sing like an angel and along with Bonnie Galford they spent time caring and praying with the residents. Bonnie was a kind and caring person who even when she was in pain she still had a smile for everyone and wouldn’t hesitate to give her last dollar to someone who needed it.

Besides her father she was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Furrow.

Survived by her husband of 42 years, Oscar Meadows; son, Keith Meadows; two daughters, Robin Harrison and husband Asa and Wendy Gillespie; six grandchildren, Briar, Logan and Brookes Meadows, Conner and Jackie Harrison and Kissiah Gillespie; two brothers, Phil Furrow and wife Goldie and Jeff Furrow and wife Mary; two sisters, Kay Diggs and husband Tom and Vickie Bennett and husband Frankie; three nephews, Jerome Furrow, Scott Bennett and Nick Bennett; six nieces, Heather Montelegro, Andrea Diggs, Kim Smith, Karlee Furrow, Nicole Davis and Adrianne Furrow and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, in-laws, aunts and uncles all whom she loved dearly.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, with Pastor Earl Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Lindside.

Donald Joseph Persinger Sr.

Donald Joseph Persinger Sr., 73, entered into eternal peace Sunday, June 30, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

Born December 18, 1939, in Acup, WVa. he was the son of Edward and Mary Goldie Kirk Persinger. Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Jacob and Bill Persinger and two sisters, Ellen Butler and Mildred Honaker.

Donald was an Army veteran with 21 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea. During his years of dedication to his country he received the National Defense Service Medal; Bronze Star; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. During his duty as a military policeman he served as a liaison between the military and civilian courts.

After retiring from the Military; Donald began his career in coal mining in WVa. Donald furthered his career by becoming a Federal Government Supervisor for mine inspectors in Vincennes Indiana.

Donald was a Mason, Shriner and in the York Rite; he was also a member of Bethlehem General Baptist Church. In his free time Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Donald is survived by his wife of 44 years Judith Dickerson Persinger; daughter, Donna Langley of Lexington N.C., husband R.L. and her sons Chuck, Chad and Will Talbert; son,  Donald J. Persinger Jr. of Franklin, Ind., wife Tammi and children Monica, Joey and Hannah; son, Christopher L. Persinger of Monroe City, Ind., wife Tami and children Brittany, Kaylee and Garrett; sisters, Maryitta Henley of Ohio, Helena Vedeikif of North Carolina, Genivie Bovie of West Virginia and Jewell Watson of Tennessee.

Donald was a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, father-n-law, son and son–in-law.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, 2 p.m. EST, at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Pete White officiating. Military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army and the American Legion-VFW firing squad.

OAK HILL — Dee Ett Beaver Scarbrough, 91, of Oak Hill, died on Sunday, June 30, 2013.
