Mary Esther Yancey
HINTON — Mary Esther Yancey, 86, of 513 Chestnut St., Hinton, died at 3:30 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her home following a long illness.
Born November 3, 1926, in Hinton, she was the daughter of the late James Jeremiah and Emma Dobbins McLaughlin.
Ms. Yancey was a former employee of The Don Array Shop in Hinton. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Hinton and was a lifelong resident of Hinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. “Babe” Yancey, on November 15, 2005. Also preceded by a brother, James A. McLaughlin, and a sister, Mildred Meadows.
Survivors include a son, Mike Yancey and wife Holly of Hinton; a daughter, Betty Grier of Beckley; a brother, Patrick McLaughlin of Beaver, and a sister, Marie Ford and husband Jim “Bootie” of Hinton. Four grandchildren, River and Abigail Yancey, Dee Dee Johnston and Rocky Davis, and two great-grandchildren, Cole and Trevor Snead.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 2, 2012, at Pivont Funeral Home Chapel, in Hinton, with Pastor Robbie Merritt officiating. Burial will follow in Restwood Memorial Gardens in Hinton.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Rodney, Ricky, Tucker and John Ford, Steve McNeer and Kim Bennett.
