Dreama Lee Alvis

RUPERT — After a long battle with emphysema, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dreama Lee Alvis....mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. We rest in the comfort of knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior in Heaven, and her struggle is over. A longtime resident of Rupert, Dreama passed away on

November 19, 2012, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte.  She was in her 78th year.

Dreama was born on September 15, 1934, in Indiana. She was the daughter of John and Wanda Jones. In 1954 she married James A. Alvis Jr. and resided in Rupert.

Before her illness, she was an active member of Bascom United Methodist Church of Rupert, where she was organist, pianist and choir director for over 50 years. Dreama also loved to participate in the church handbell choir. She was also one of the first "pink ladies" at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center. She was a very kind and gentle lady to the very end.

Those left to cherish her memory are, two daughters: Kathy Alvis Barnes (Bob) of Charlotte, N.C., Cindy Alvis Vance (Tom) of Rupert; a son, Jimmy Alvis III (Jane James and children) of Rupert; a  sister, Wanda Sue Nester of Huntington; four grandchildren: Tommy Vance (Sabrina), James Alvis IV, Garrett and Sully Alvis; two great-grandchildren: Brayden and Addyson Vance; a nephew: Steven Nester; two great-nephews: Trey and Hayden Nester; and one great-niece: Alivia Nester.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Stanley Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.

Friends may visit with the family from 12 to 2 p.m. (2 hours prior) at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Nester, Tommy Vance, James and Garrett Alvis, Sully Alvis, Trey and Hayden Nester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bascom United Methodist Church Piano Fund, PO Drawer L, Rupert, WV 25984.

And so now we must say goodbye... “To live in hearts you leave behind, to see the best in others, to try to live for Christ...What more can we ever ask....”
