PRINCETON — John P. Anderson, 78, of Princeton, died Saturday, April 6, 2013.

COON BRANCH MOUNTAIN — The Rev. Ollie Lee Bishop, 74, of Coon Branch Mountain, died Saturday April 6, 2013.

Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, April 9, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with the Rev. James Cline and Bobby Keene officiating. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 8, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Powell Cemetery, Coon Branch Mountain.

DETROIT, Mich. — Mrs. Clara Davis Blakey, 74, of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Ansted, died Friday, March 29, 2013.

Dixie Joyce Farmer, 79, of Beckley, passed Saturday, April 6, 2013.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Beckley.

OAK HILL — Bobby Gardner, 53, of Oak Hill, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013.

Elsie Tate Harrah

PINE HILL — Elsie Tate Harrah, 85, of Pine Hill died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Summers Co. Appalachian Regional Hospital, following a short illness.

Born August 25, 1927, in Pemberton, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Tate and Lydia Ellen Guess Tate.

She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted. Elsie obtained her GED degree in 1996 at the age of 68 and continued her education by mentoring students pursuing their GED degree twice a week. She enjoyed collecting dolls, quilting and spending time with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry H. Harrah, July 10, 1995; five brothers and one sister.

Those left to cherish her memory include four sons, Johnny and Ronnie Harrah of Hilldale, Leonard Harrah of Pipestem and Robert Harrah and wife Linda of Lerona; six daughters, Lena Brookman and Bonnie Harrah of Hilldale, Sherry Phillips and husband Jimmy Ray of Lerona, Carolyn Allen of Beckley, and Brenda Harrah of Hilldale and Wanda Sea and husband Edward of Hinton; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Ward and Margaret Surbaugh both of Hinton.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Claypool Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral parlors. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Barbara Jean Lane

Barbara Jean Lane, 68, of Cool Ridge, West Virginia, won her 4-year battle with cancer on Thursday, April 4, 2013, when she left the arms of her loving family and entered into the arms of the Lord.

Born on May 17, 1944, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Lyle and Juanita Skelton.

Barbara married the love of her life, Jimmie D. Lane of Cool Ridge, WV, on February 16, 1962, in Plattsmouth, NE. They spent 51 years happily married and had three children who brought great joy to their lives.

Survivors include her husband Jimmie, son Darrel Lane and wife Donna of Fort Ashby, WV, daughter Kelly Legg and husband Randy of Mt. Lookout, WV, grandchildren Brandon and Lane Lilly, Ric’Kell Lusk (Cody), and Jared Lane. Also survived by a sister Patricia Strickland (Robert), Linita Chapman (adopted daughter), Cheryl Wood (adopted sister), one of her special angels, Carol Lyn Lane, and cousins and aunts in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Scott, a sister Linda, a brother Ronnie, and father and mother-in-law Frank and Nola Lane.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She enjoyed reading, sewing, painting, and spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren were very dear to her heart; she spent countless hours reading, painting, and crafting with them to lay the foundation to prepare them for their future education. She also enjoyed spending time with friends and a very special group of military families.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to all the personnel at Raleigh Regional Cancer Center, Eppy’s Drug, and Jarrell’s Pharmacy.

Services will be held at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home, Shady Spring Chapel, on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Jack Barber officiating. Family and friends may visit with the family beginning at 11 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery at Cool Ridge, WV.

LOGAN — Mrs. Beatrice (Bea) Orr, 82, of Logan died Sunday, April 7, 2013.

Larry Robert Puffenbarger

GHENT — The angels rejoiced as another one of God’s children, Larry Robert Puffenbarger, 72, of Ghent, WV, formerly of Rupert, WV, entered the gates of heaven on Friday, April 5th, 2013, following a long illness.

Born on February 7th, 1941, in Pocahontas County, Green Bank, WV, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Puffenbarger and Eloise Jane Arbogast Puffenbarger.

He attended Cool Ridge Community Church. Larry was a retired coal miner. He was a loving dad and husband who enjoyed life and loved to joke around with people. Some of his favorite past times over the years include playing music (he was a talented musician), singing, attending church, restoring antique vehicles, spending time with family and friends. Also spending time with his little buddy, Taco (his 8-year-old Chihuahua). He will always be missed by family and friends. He touched all of our lives in some way and things will never be the same.

He was preceded in death by two wives, Norma Jane Taylor Puffenbarger and Madeline Yvonne Crawford Puffenbarger. Also preceded in death by his dad, Robert Lee Puffenbarger.

Survivors include his wife, Connie B. Puffenbarger of Ghent, WV. His Mom, Eloise Jane Arbogast Puffenbarger of Lewisburg, WV, formerly of Cool Ridge, WV. Two children, Vicki Renee Fairfax of Rupert, WV, and Kipton Wayne Puffenbarger and wife Cindy also of Rupert, WV. Two stepdaughters, Tammy Bell of Radford, Virginia, and Debbie Goins of NC. One stepson, Carlos Crawford of Texas. Three grandchildren, Desmond Puffenbarger of Toledo, OH, Sheena Baldwin of Durham, NC, and Jaise Puffenbarger of Rupert, WV. Two stepgrandchildren, Lensay and Lucas Reece of Radford, Virginia. Two brothers, Thomas Puffenbarger and wife Gloria of Rupert, WV, and Rick Puffenbarger and wife, Cricket, of Ghent, WV. One sister, Jane Loudermilk and husband Earl of Clintonville, WV.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, April 8th, 2013. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 9th, at 1 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel. Burial will follow at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Brenda Sizemore

MULLENS — Brenda Sizemore, 68, of Mullens, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013. Born March 3, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Caskel Davis and Ruby Cleary.

Brenda enjoyed working on cryptograms and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Brenda is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Conrad.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Glenna Cordell and husband Tony of Mullens, WV, Misty Ball and husband, Christopher, of Pierpoint, WV; son, James Sizemore of Wyco, WV; grandsons, Randell Cordell of Beckley, WV, Ryan Campbell of Mullens, Steven Sizemore of Coal Mountain, WV, Jonathan Sizemore of Pierpoint, WV, Dakota Ball of Princeton, WV, Christopher Ball of Coal City, WV; granddaughters, Angel Cordell of Mullens, WV, Kayla Cordell of Surveyor, WV, Kori Sizemore of Huntington, WV, Jasmine Ball of Coal City, WV, Kristyn Ball of Coal City, WV; great-grandchildren, Lee, Alex, Aubri, Jaiden, Madison; brother, Larry Davis of TX; sisters, Joann Denten of OR, Vergie George of PA, Betty Engle of TN.

A celebration of life will be held at Mullens Pentecostal Church at 8 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, with Rev. Lewis Arnold officiating.
