Sharon Lorraine Beans

UNION — Sharon Lorraine Beans, 42 of Union, passed away Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 5, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union with the Rev. Bob Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at the Ballard Cemetery near Union. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation be made to the Union Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 78, Union.

Groves Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Elizabeth Jackson Brown

LEWISBURG — Lillian Elizabeth Jackson Brown, age 88, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away April 4, 2013, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center from natural causes.

Lillian was born in Brantville, WV, on June 3, 1924. The daughter of George Mason Brandt and Annie Myrtle Ford, Lillian attended Frankfort High School. She was married to Cefales Lee Jackson who passed in 1978. Lillian then married Benjamin Porter Brown on Nov. 13, 1982.

Lillian spent her career working at Jackson’s Ladies Shop in Ronceverte/Lewisburg selling Ladies Clothing and Merle Norman Cosmetics.

Lillian is survived by her husband Benjamin Porter Brown, her sister Della Lea Simms, her daughter Karen Jackson Bowling, her grandchildren William R Bowling, IV, and Jackson Lee Bowling, and Great-Grandchild William R Bowling, V.

A viewing and funeral service will be held at Wallace and Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, WV, on Saturday, April 6, 2013. Viewing will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the Funeral Service will begin at 7 p.m., with Pastor Beth Peters officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at: Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814.

Reverend Richard Starrett Burns

RONCEVERTE — Reverend Richard Starrett Burns, 94, of Teaberry Road passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at his home after a long illness.

Born July 19, 1918, at Fort Spring and was the son of the late Michael and Minnie Massey Burns of Fort Spring.

Mr. Burns had been a resident of Ronceverte since 1951 and was formerly of Fort Spring, member of the Ft. Spring Missionary Baptist Church, he was a minister with the Southern Baptist Ministries and had been a pastor at Big Creek Baptist Church, Hinton, WV, Four Mile Baptist Church, Hinton, WV, Wolf Creek Baptist Church, Wolf Creek, WV, Ronceverte Baptist Church, Ronceverte, and numerous other Baptist churches. He was a highly decorated Veteran of WWII and worked at Acme Limestone where he retired.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Gladys Loudermilk Burns; and a son, John Andrew Burns; one stepdaughter, the late Aleta Loudermilk.

Survived by his sons, Richard Steven Burns (Marilyn) of Greensboro, NC, William Leroy Burns (Polly) of Ronceverte, Michael Floyd Burns (Rebecca) of Enterprise, AL, Phillip Anthony Burns (Dee) of Fairlea, Harvey Lee Burns (Francis) of Carrollton, GA, daughter, Jeanette Virginia Biggs (Alan) of Liberty, NC, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, former wife and mother of his children, Hallie Virginia Abbot, numerous nephews and nieces.

He was known by many and loved by all who knew him.

Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Longanacre Funeral Home Chapel, Fairlea, with Pastor Donnie Weikle officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Friends and family may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5,  2013, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea.
