Rev. Charles Baylous ‘Doodle’ Arbaugh Jr.

ALDERSON — Rev. Charles Baylous “Doodle” Arbaugh Jr., age 90, of Muddy Creek Mountain, Alderson, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 3 p.m. at the Alderson Church of the Nazarene, Muddy Creek Mountain, Alderson, with the Rev. Ernie Farmer and the Rev. Paul Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Phillips Family Cemetery on Muddy Creek Mountain, Alderson, where military funeral honors will be conducted by the West Virginia Army National Guard.

Friends may call Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Alderson Church of the Nazarene, Muddy Creek Mountain, Alderson.

Grant Bailey

OCEANA — Grant Bailey, 90, of Oceana, passed away Monday, March 31, 2014.

Grant was born July 3, 1923 in Panther, W.Va., a son of the late Flem and Lovini Roberts Bailey.

He answered his country’s call during World War II, by joining the U.S. Army and serving in the South Pacific. After that he went to work in the coal mines until retirement.

In addition to his parents his loving wife of 67 years Pearl Church Bailey, preceded him in death.

Those left to cherish his memory include a son Larry Bailey and wife Joyce of Oceana; three daughters Jane Morgan and husband Marvin of Belleview Fla., Joyce Asbury and husband Falous of King George, Va. and Judy Pinson and husband Rob of Beckley; seven grandchildren Jennifer Brooks, Jodie Bailey, Daniel Bailey, Jamie Morgan, Timothy Morgan, Amy Jill Marden and Jobe Thornsbury; 11 great grandchildren Clay, Morgan and Faith Brooks; Peyton, Madison and Jasmine Morgan; Ava and Zachery Bailey; Gabby Stacy, Jack and Dylan Marden; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014 in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home with Rev. Algie Cook officiating. Grant will be laid to rest beside his loving wife in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va. Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.

Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wyoming Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and love they showed toward Mr. Bailey. In addition the family would like to say thank you to a wonderful neighbor Ruth Walker.

Melisa Adkins Bennett

FAYETTEVILLE — Melisa Adkins Bennett, 54, of Fayetteville, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Bennett was cremated. There will be no visitation or service.
