Esther Mae Acord

KESLERS CROSS LANES — Esther Mae Acord, 79, a native of Clendenin, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, in the White Funeral Home at Summersville, with Pastor Charles Blankenship officiating. Interment will follow in the Zoar Church Cemetery at Keslers Cross Lanes.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday one hour prior to the services.

Betty Sue Alderman

It is with heavy heart that the family of Betty Sue Harris Alderman from Quinwood, WV, and formerly from Martinsville, VA, and White Sulphur Springs, WV, announce her passing. She succumbed to a hard-fought battle with cancer the evening of January 30, 2013, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Betty was born in White Sulphur Springs, WV, June 14, 1937, to the late Henry Houston Harris and Ethel Marie Harris. She was a graduate of the White Sulphur Springs High School, and was retired from The Greenbrier hotel. Most knew her as Nanny for her great love of all the children she was always surrounded by. She was of the Catholic faith.

Other than her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, J. Gordon Alderman, daughter, Karen Alderman, grandson, Anthony R. Alderman, brothers, Houston Harris and Charles Harris, and sisters, Thelma Harris and Frances Feury.

She leaves behind a family that feels blessed that they were a part of her life and include a sister, Virginia Emory of Tennessee; children, Rebecca Stout of Martinsville, VA, Rhonda Knuckles of Summersville, WV, Daniel Alderman and wife Georgia of Columbus, OH, Kathy Miller and husband Jeffrey of White Sulphur Springs, WV, Steven Alderman of Quinwood, WV, and Sheryl Jenkins of Summersville, WV. Twenty-three grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family.

Per her request there will be a cremation with no visitation. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in White Sulphur Springs with Deacon Bill Strange officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Loretto Cemetery of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
