Betty Jo Griffith
Betty Jo Griffith, 80, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, January 22nd, 2013, in the comfort of her home and surrounded by family and loved ones.
Betty was born on April 14, 1932; she was the daughter of the late George and Lillie Mae Dillon.
She graduated from Clear Fork High School in Colcord, W.Va. Betty was a devout Christian and had spoken vividly of seeing the Lord in the days prior to her death. She was known for her humor and smile and was widely recognized within the community as just “Granny.” Her interests included gardening, singing gospel music and spending as much time as she could with the family she loved so much.
Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lester Griffith, whom she remained steadfastly devoted to throughout her life, including the 35 years following his death; and her loving siblings, Charles “Pee Wee” Dillon, Paul Dillon, Dora “Sissy” Dillon and Blandine “Lannie” Scarbro. She was anxiously awaiting her time to see them again and to finally meet her father, who died before she was born.
She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her daughters, Melody Ann Williams and husband Alex of Artie and Ina Mae Williams and husband Gary of Artie; Grandchildren, Michelle Thapa and husband, Hari, of Beckley, Amanda Williams of Beckley, Tamara Rahal and husband, Jonathan, of Beaver and Alan Williams of Artie; Her little angels, great-grandchildren, Sohan Jha, Haley Williams, Carli Rahal and Alexis Sears; special family members, Diana McClure, Mary Crean, Timothy Dillon, Bette Dillon, Gary Dillon, Floyd Griffith, Jamie Hilderbrand and Lou Williams; and special friends, Shelia Stover, Carol Williams, Sandra Scarbro and many others.
Following the wishes of Betty, services will be held graveside at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, W.Va., on Saturday, January 26th, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Gary Williams presiding. Friends and relatives are invited to attend to honor her memory and celebrate her 80 years on this earth and her joyous new life in Heaven.
Pallbearers will be Alan Williams, Jamie Hilderbrand, Jonathan Rahal, Abhin Jha, Gary Dillon, Alex Williams and Bobby Sears.
