Debra K. Adkins
LUSK SETTLEMENT — Debra Karen Adkins, 54, of Lusk Settlement departed this life to be with the Lord Saturday, January 19, 2013, surrounded by her family following a long illness.
Born August 11, 1958, at Mullens, she was the daughter of the late Monterville and Alice Marie (Snyder) Lusk.
Debbie was a homemaker, she attended the Spruce Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Basin, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and loved her grandchildren. She was loved by all that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 34 years, David Lee Adkins of Lusk Settlement; two sons, David “Jake” Adkins and his wife, Jan, and Jonathan Adkins and his wife, Jessica; four grandchildren, Morgan, Maddison, Chase, and Lexus; four sisters, Sharon Reed of Mullens, Joanna Blankenship and her husband, Harry, of Basin, Norma Lewis and her husband, James, of Mullens, and Mary Ann Hayes of Oak Hill; mother-in-law, Loma Adkins; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Graveside services and burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Lusk Cemetery at the Lusk Settlement with Rev. Danny Lusk officiating.
Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harry Blankenship, Justin Basham, Tommy Burchette, Jeff Martin, Robert McClaugherty, and Christopher McClaugherty.
In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be made in Debra’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital C/O St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

Ronald J. Bennett
JUMPING BRANCH — Ronald J. Bennett, 87, of Mount View Road, Jumping Branch, died Saturday, January 19, 2013, after a long illness.
Born February 28, 1925, at Jumping Branch, he was the son of the late Oliver S. and Caldonia “Callie” Vest Bennett.
Ronald was a United States Army Veteran having served his country during the Korean War, a member of the UMWA, and a retired coal miner. While his health permitted, Ronald and his dog Sam enjoyed farming and raising cattle. This kind and generous man was affectionately called “The Gentleman Farmer” by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Opal Gross, Eula Stanley, Wanda Kirk and Ola McCutcheon, and five brothers, Roy, Ray, Reo, Rexel and Roscoe Bennett.
He is survived by one sister, Wilda Bennett McComas and husband Everett of Marmet, one sister-in-law, Pauline Vest of Daniels, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Mary Jane Church, Streeter Road, with Pastor Ernest Calfee Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Anderson-Vest Cemetery at Mount View.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

FRANKFORD — James Lee Evans, 46, of Frankford died Jan. 18, 2013.

Paul E. Green
PINEVILLE — Paul E. Green, 85, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013, following a sudden illness.
Born April 25, 1927, in Pineville, WV, he was the son of the late Sannie and Nellie Perdue Green.
Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served his country during the Korean War. Paul enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and being with his family and friends. He retired from the Wyoming County School System after many years of service. Paul was of the Christian faith and attended Rock Castle Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Goldy Warnix, Dorothy Branco, Sannie Green, Jr., Oscar Green, Gilbert Green, Icie Adams, Maxine Lynch Raymond, and Georgie Booth. He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank everyone at Pine Lodge for their care and sympathy during the loss of Paul.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Calfee Funeral Service Chapel, Pineville. The Rev. Donald “Doc” Adkins and Pastor Steve Accord will be officiating. Burial will follow at Green Family Cemetery, Pineville. The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 12 p.m. until time of service.

Paris Wesley Hatcher Jr.
Paris Wesley Hatcher, Jr., age 77, of Beckley, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at his home following an extended illness.
Born August 13, 1935, in Rhodell, WV, to the late Paris Wesley Hatcher, Sr., and Alda Bolen Hatcher.
Mr. Hatcher enjoyed doing wood work, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family. He was a graduate of Stoco High School Class of 1953. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Long Leaf Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC. He also served our country in the United States Army.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his former wife, Mae Hatcher; son, Jimmy Hatcher; daughter, Debbie Hatcher; and a sister, Juanita Peace.
Those surviving include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Hatcher, at home; stepchildren, Barry Lilly (Robin) of Fort Collins, CO, Karen Regan of Spartanburg, SC, and Kimberly Sawyer (Peter) of Guntersville, AL; brother, Ronnie Hatcher (Ramona) of Columbia, SC; sisters, Marion Meadows (Virgil) of Beckley, Peggy Bacula of Daytona, FL, and Betty Solari (Dario) of Grandview; granddaughters, Autumn and Brandy; great-granddaughter, Paris Mae; 9 stepgrandchildren and 4 stepgreat-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and nine special brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Chapel in Beckley with Pastor Roger Pauley officiating. Interment will then follow to Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity where the Oak Hill VFW Post 3110 will be conducting military graveside rites.
Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
