Sharon Diana Albaugh
Sharon Diana Albaugh, age 69, of Shady Spring, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 5, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, Va.
Sharon was born on July 11, 1944, at Gallipolis, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Everett and Pauline Burris.
Sharon grew up in a small Ohio River town called Point Pleasant, W.Va. Sharon graduated with honors from Point Pleasant High School in 1962.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shady Spring. Sharon was a faithful witness for her Lord and Savior. She was involved as a youth leader in a program called “Jet Cadets for Jesus”. Sharon’s favorite bible verse was Proverb’s 3: 5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Sharon was a devoted and loving mother and wife. Sharon and her husband Harry have been married for 50 years. They were high school sweethearts. She loved her family so much. Everyone who came to know Sharon, loved her. She loved being outdoors and working in her flower gardens. Sharon loved to travel too. She particularly loved to walk on the beach. She also loved to listen to music as she worked around the house. In her high school years, she listened to a local radio program called “Sunset Boulevard” waiting to hear a dedication from Harry.
In addition to her parents, Everett and Pauline Burris, she was preceded in death by one brother Richard Burris, and by one sister, Shirley Burris.
Sharon is survived by her husband, arry Albaugh of Shady Spring; one daughter, Diana Hornbeck and her husband Peter of Masontown, W.Va.; two sons, Todd Albaugh and his wife Jennifer of Camp Creek, and Brent Albaugh and his wife Benetta of West Columbia, S.C.; a grandson, Ryan Albaugh of Camp Creek; a granddaughter, Shanleigh Flagg and her husband Matt of Masontown; a great granddaughter Isabelle Flagg of Masontown and a brother Jack Burris and his wife Claudia of Apple Grove, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life Of Sharon Albaugh on Friday, August 9, 2013, at the Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home Shady Spring Chapel at 1 p.m. with Pastor Delvin D. Elwell Jr. and Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, W.Va.
Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Sherry Lee Buckland Greene
COWEN — Sherry Lee Buckland Greene, 41, of Cowen, formerly of Cunard, died on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident at Mount Lookout, W.Va.
Born June 25, 1972, at Beckley, she was the daughter of Albert Lee Buckland of Scarbro, and the late Rose Marie Brooks Buckland and stepdaughter of Judy Shaver Buckland.
Sherry was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was a homemaker
Her husband, Donnie Greene and a son, Jonathan Bibb both died from injuries sustained in the same automobile accident that took Sherry’s life. She was also preceded in death by a stepsister, Kristy Fedukovich.
In addition to her father and stepmother, Sherry is survived by a son, Michael Bibb of Oak Hill, brother, Kevin Buckland of Oak Hill; sister, Christie Messer and husband, Scott of Oak Hill; step brother, Gary Harvey of Scarbro; niece, Garbiela Messer and a nephew Jordan Messer.
Funeral services will be on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. John Pack officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Leona F. ‘Dobbie’ Hall
Leona F. “Dobbie” Hall, age 80 of Princewick, went home to be with the Lord of Wednesday, July 31, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born June 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Melva Altice Ayers.
Leona was a wonderful and loving grandmother to Brad Irmen and his sister, Kelley Irmen of AL; and a loving grandmother to great-grandson, Noah Irmen of GA. Leona also had numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she also loved.
Leona dedicated her life to helping others with over 30 years as a CNA. Leona worked in Chicago and a number of area hospitals including, RGH in Beckley and as a private caregiver/CNA to many others who needed her gentle way and kind words. Leona was a tireless worker who understood the pain and suffering of others.
In addition to her parents, Leona is preceded in death by children, Howard Albert “Jimmy” Meadows; newborn daughter, Thelma; brothers, Tootie, Mike, Cumbo, Louie and sister, Daisy; also childhood sweetheart and first husband, Howard J. Meadows.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Charles R. Hall; children, Randy Meadows and wife Dorothy, Dreama L. Meadows and Rickie Meadows; sisters, Ethel Hooper and husband Dewey, Melva Hylton and husband, Hershel; brothers, Whorley, Frank and wife, Argenia, Roy Lee, Douglas and Bill Ayers; special sister-in-law, Delores Ayers, and her son, Brian Ayers.

Ernest Aaron Hunt, 91, of Piney View, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013.
Born June 27, 1922, at Piney View, the son of the late Joe Hunt and Mary Cheatham.
He was a retired coal miner, a member of the Piney View Bible Church and a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife Margaret Ruth (Jividen) Hunt of Piney View; two sons, Larry Allan Hunt and his wife Dianne of Piney View and Lanny Bruce Hunt and his wife Ruth of Piney View; three grandsons, Joseph Hunt, Nathan Hunt, and Adam Hunt and three great grandchildren.

Walter Grant McGraw
On the morning of August 4, 2013, Walter Grant “Mac” McGraw departed this life for his heavenly home. He was 87 years young.
Walter is survived by his wife of 68 years, Virginia Susan; daughter, Margaret Ellen Rader of Beckley, John Walter (Jonie) of Stafford, Va.; granddaughters, Jill Sergison (Peter) of Durham, NC, and Suzanne Rader (Ben Floor) of Los Angeles, CA; grandsons, SPC Daniel McGraw (Calli) of Ft. Bragg, NC, David McGraw and Nathan McGraw of Stafford, Va.; great grandchildren Andrew and Campbell Sergison, Jack Ferrell and Natalie McGraw.
Walter was a long standing member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army Engineer Base Equipment Company, Fort Lewis, WA, during World War II. A graduate of West Virginia Institute of Technology, he retired from Appalachian Power Company at an early age to pursue his career in real estate development. Walter will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to serving God, his family, and the Beckley community.
His loved ones will welcome friends and family at the Beckley Presbyterian Church, Friday, August 9, 5:30 to 7 p.m. A memorial service with Rev. John McKinnon will follow.

HERNDON HEIGHTS — Brittany Marie Phillips, 25, of Herndon Heights, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
Born on March 2, 1988, at Plattsburg, NY, she was the daughter of Kevin and Staci Mullens Phillips.
Brittany was a 2008 graduate of Wyoming East High School. She was a loving mother, wonderful daughter and granddaughter, caring sister, and dear friend to many.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and her husband, Jacob Penley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, Kevin and Staci Phillips and her son, Jarred Lane Phillips, all of Herndon Heights; two brothers, Casey Phillips and Jessica Bowers of Allen Junction and Zach Phillips and Britteny Reed of Helen; also three wonderful nieces, Brooklyn Phillips, Raelynn Phillips, and Emma Wood; and a nephew, Alex Penley. Brittany is also survived by her maternal great grandmother, Malone Mullens of Princeton, maternal grandparents, Buddy and Barbara Mullens of Mullens, and her paternal grandparents, Bill and Anna Phillips of Mullens. Brittany was blessed with many aunts and uncles that loved her dearly, including her two special aunts, Debbie Phillips and Jennifer Lashley. She will be truly missed by her cousins and many friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leslie Mullens officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Cemetery, Herndon Heights.

Blanche Maddy Thompson
MAXWELTON — Blanche Maddy Thompson, age 92, of Maxwelton, passed away on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, at Greenbrier Manor in Fairlea after a life well lived.
Born April 9, 1921, at War Ridge, Monroe County, she was the daughter of Lemuel Kenna and Lou Esta Shumate Maddy.
In her younger years, she worked as a beautician in Washington, D.C., and in Hinton, W.Va. and as the smiling face behind the counter at Thompsons’ Market in Maxwelton, a business she and her husband owned and operated in the 1960s and 1970s. With her husband, she also lived and farmed in Monroe, Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lewisburg, now the Lewisburg Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alton Thompson; two sons, Eddie K. and Kenna Ray Thompson; a sister, Mary Grove; three brothers, Woodrow, Leonard and Frank Maddy.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Woods (Rodney) of Los Lunas, New Mexico, LouElla Lewis (Chuck) of Lewisburg and Ruth Warren (Sam) of Frankford; two sisters, Clara Pack of Roanoke and Helen Helms of Hinton; a daughter-in-law, Sue Upton of Marie; a brother-in-law, Bill Thompson (Estelle) of Nimitz; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the residents, staff an extended “family” of Greenbrier Manor, who provided a caring home for their mom in her last years.
Funeral services for Blanche will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at the New Hope Methodist Church at Marie, with the Revs. Hayden “Skip” Furrow and Jonathan Comer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Alice F. Loudermilk Watkins
CLINTON, Md. — Alice F. Loudermilk Watkins, 66, of Clinton, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Born July 9, 1947, at Clintonville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Amos H. and Velma V. Hinkle Loudermilk.
Alice enjoyed reading, needlepoint, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters: Kristi Skerett and Virginia L. Morgera and husband Thomas; eight grandchildren: Seth, Megan, Devin, Celine, Madison, Peter, Thomas, and Julianna Faye; three sisters: Eva Wray (Jerry), Brenda Loudermilk and Dama Bricker (Ed).
She was preceded in death by a daughter Kelly in 2011, and a sister Dreama in 2000.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family in West Virginia.
