LINDSIDE — Virginia Alls, 79 of Lindside, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.

Helen V. Coste

LEWISBURG — Helen V. Coste, 92, of Lewisburg, formerly of Hinton, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2013.

Arrangements are pending completion at Pivont Funeral Home, Hinton.

Susie Vass Jones

JUMPING BRANCH — Susie Vass Jones, 59, of Jumping Branch, ended her 27-year battle with cancer at 2:20 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family and is now home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born March 16, 1954, at Hinton, she was the daughter of Fred O. and Lillian Davis Vass of Jumping Branch. Member of the First Baptist Church of Hinton, graduate of the Hinton High School Class of 1972 and the WV Tech Nursing Program in 1974. Susie worked as a registered nurse in several hospitals in Summers and Raleigh Counties, her favorite job was as a nurse for home health and she last worked for the Summers Co. Health Department, a lover of animals, her vegetable and flower gardens and collecting mice.

Preceded in death by her father-in-law, Ralph Eugene Jones; paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Effie Jane Allen Vass; and maternal grandparents, Luther Ray and Nora A. Harvey Davis.

Besides her parents those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ralph Eugene Jones Jr. of Jumping Branch; two sons, Eric J. Jones and girlfriend Samantha “Sammi” Derringer of Jumping Branch and Brian M. Jones and wife Laurice of Kent, OH; two brothers, Fred R. Vass and wife Brenda and their son Nicholas O. of Nimitz and Richard L. Vass and wife Cathy of Manassas, VA; two sisters, Jennifer E. Ebsworth and husband Andrew and their son Jacob A. of Nokesville, VA, and Rebecca A. Keaton and husband Gary J. and their children Brandi A. and Luke R. of Grandview.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Hinton with Pastors Ronnie Cobb and Jeff Canterbury officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton. At her request she will be cremated and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Animal Rescue, Animal Shelters or our local ASPCA.

Hester Rose Browning Pack

Hester Rose Browning Pack, 54, of Bradley passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013.

Betty Helen Frances Stewart

CHESTERFIELD, Va. — Betty Helen Frances Stewart, 73, of Chesterfield, VA, formerly of Oak Hill, died at the home of her son, Richard, in Chesterfield, VA, on Saturday, August 24, 2013. Born May 18, 1940, at Red Star, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Annie Mildred Ward Dick. Also, her husband, Richard Eugene Stewart, preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and had worked as a restaurant cook.

Survivors include two sons, Richard Eugene Stewart, Jr., of Chesterville, VA, and Robin Gale Stewart of Broadway, VA, two daughters, Helen Horten of Anchorage, AK, and Catherine Lin Stewart of Charlotte, NC, two brothers, Jesse and Charles Dick, both of Oak Hill, and two sisters, Faye Hall of NJ and Carol Stone of Oak Hill; and five grandchildren: Tristen R. Horten, Justen M. Horten, Richard E Stewart, Jr., Kristen G. Sharp and Cole M. Stewart.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with Pastor Richard Early officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, WV. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from 11 a.m. til time of service.

George Curtis Stone

OAK HILL — George Curtis Stone, 75, of Oak Hill, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013, at a Beckley hospital. Born October 1, 1937, the son of the late John Dewey Stone and Wavie Morton Stone. George was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fayetteville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Stone, and two sisters, Norma Humphreys, and Lavonive Lacy.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Shelia Sue (Light) Stone; two sons, Carl Edward Stone and his wife Tammy of Greenbank WV, and Gregory Wayne Stone and his wife Karen of Lansing, WV; four brothers, John D. Stone and his wife Virginia of Fayetteville, Franklin Delmont Stone and his wife Barbara of Clintonville, WV, Shirold Denzel Stone and his wife Carol of Oak Hill, Allen Stone and his wife Betty of Hometown, WV; three sisters Genevieve Miller of Hurricane, WV, Meredith Neal and her husband Hubert of Beckley, and Carol Sue Osborne of Cardin, OH; four grandchildren, Brandon Stone, Lindsey Stone, Bethany Stone, and Alex Furgusonl; one sister-in-law Dorothy Stone of Oak Hill; and “Gracie” his miniature schnauzer.

His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, where the funeral will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Justin Seay officiating and where the family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
