Geraldine Hatfield

SIMON — Geraldine Hatfield, 75, of Simon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with the Revs. Firg Proffitt and Lonnie Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Milty Morgan Cemetery, Simon. Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

BAISDEN — Sherron Justice, 35, died Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012.

HANOVER — Berthel H. Kennedy, 93, died Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012.

FLAT TOP — Elizabeth Libby Lilly, 59, of Flat Top, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012.

FAYETTEVILLE — Billy Ray McClung, 44, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.

He will be cremated, and a private family service will be at a later date.

George E. ‘Mutt’ Morris

LEWISBURG — George E. “Mutt” Morris, 92, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the Autumn Way Assisted Living Home in Rupert, after a long illness.

Born Sept. 2, 1920, at Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Moffitt E. and Maude Lightner Morris.

Mr. Morris was a lifelong resident of Greenbrier County, a lifelong member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ronceverte, and was employed during World War II as a mail carrier in Ronceverte, also by Rocco Feeds, having retired from Combustion Engineering of Lewisburg in 1991. “Mutt” was a lover of all sports and played most of them in his younger years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Williams, and a brother, Earl “Rusty” Morris.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Gloria Feamster Morris of Lewisburg; brothers, Roy Morris and wife, Sarah, of Ronceverte, and Donald Morris of Roanoke, Va.; a sister, Dorothy Byers of Alexandria, Va.; nephews, Alan Morris and wife, Karen, of Lewisburg, and Ernest Morris of Fairlea; nieces, Angie Morris and husband, Sam Massie, of Ronceverte, and Kay Austin and husband, Shawn, of Charlotte, N.C.; great-niece, Tiffany Steele and husband, Chris, of Ronceverte, and great-nephew, Ethan Morris of Fort Campbell, Ky.

Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Ronceverte, with the Rev. Mike Estep officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fairlea, and at the church 30 minutes before the service.
