Effie Marie Ledahawsky
TUCSON, Ariz. — Effie Marie Ledahawsky passed away Sunday, September 16, 2012, in Tucson, Arizona, at the age of 85.
Miss Effie, as she was known by many, was a longtime resident of Tucson and beloved for her 48 years of remarkable customer service at The Levy’s Department Store and its successors.
She is survived by her sister Rebecca Harris of Mentor, Ohio, her nieces and nephews living in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia, as well as her former husband Frank Ledahawsky II of Tucson.
She was predeceased by her son Frank Ledahawsky III and her grandson Anthony, as well as her other siblings.
A Memorial Service was held in Tucson, Arizona, on Friday, September 21, 2012, at East Lawn Palms Mortuary. An inurnment service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, West Virginia.
Rev. Bill L. Murray
DAVIN — Rev. Bill L. Murray, 80, of Davin, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with the Rev. David Fisher, the Rev. Bryan C. Baker, and Brother Bill Cline officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, where military graveside rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church and one hour prior to services.

Ruth ‘Pearl’ Prewitt
MOCKSVILLE, N.C. — Ruth “Pearl” Prewitt, 92, of Mocksville, NC, formerly of Blue Jay, WV, finished her earthly journey on September 26, 2012, and began a glorious eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born in Krupp, KY, on February 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Flara Hinkle Prewitt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Finley Prewitt, and a grandson, Kelly Warren Prewitt. She was also preceded in death by eleven siblings.
She is survived by her son, Keith (Deanna) Prewitt of Covington, VA; 2 daughters, Nancy (Harold, Jr.) Ward of Daniels, WV, and Ruth (Shelby) Harbour of Cooleemee, NC. She was the loving grandmother to Kevin Prewitt, Kimberly Prewitt, Jim and Steve McMorrow, Karen McMorrow Biederman, Brian Ward, Lisa Wiseman, Amy Chapman, Jason Harbour, Laura Crisp and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by half sisters, Lorene Meador, Emma Waddell and Sue Parks.
She faithfully served the Lord with her husband, the late Rev. Finley Prewitt, at several churches in West Virginia. After his death in 1971, she continued to serve her Lord at Daniels Missionary Baptist Church in Daniels, WV, and later at Victory Baptist Church in Cooleemee, NC. Known affectionately as “Gee” by her grandchildren, she was always careful to make sure everyone had plenty to eat and a place to sleep at her house.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Victory Baptist Church, Cooleemee, NC, on Saturday, September 29, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Shelby Harbour officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the church.
A second celebration service will be held on Sunday, September 30, at 4 p.m. at the Daniels Missionary Baptist Church, 152 C&O Dam Road, Daniels, WV 25832, with Rev. Shelby Harbour and Rev. Jack Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the church.
A final celebration service will be held on Monday, October 1, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin, KY 40701, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Shelby Harbour officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Corinth Cemetery in Corbin.
