Kaula Marrie Acord

OCEANA — Kaula Marrie Acord, 24, of Oceana, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014.

Hughie Alvin Canterbury

Hughie Alvin Canterbury, age 93, of Sophia, WV, passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley on Thursday, April 3, 2014.

Born on February 22, 1921, at Carlisle, WV, he  was the son of the late Dayton Canterbury and Clara McKinney Canterbury.

Mr. Canterbury was a retired mechanic for Day and Nite Garage. He was a member of the Sophia Church of God.

Mr. Canterbury was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Canterbury, by brothers, Delbert, Roscoe, Roy, Clarence, Robert and Dayton Canterbury, and by a sister Frances Williams.

Surviving are a sister, Katherine Bostic of Beckley, a brother Clayton Canterbury and his wife Pat of Prosperity. Many nieces and nephews including his special niece and caregiver Ann Worrell of Crab Orchard also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Monday, April 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. with Bishop James Bostic and Bishop F.D. Sexton officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.

Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Teddy J. Cantley

PONTIAC, Mich. — Teddy J. Cantley of Pontiac, Michigan, formerly of Raleigh County in West Virginia, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 73 years of age.

He was the beloved husband of Maisie for 42 years; loving father of Teddy Cantley Jr., Rosanna Pettaway, Jason (Ericka) Cantley, and David Cantley; dear grandfather of 12 and great-grandfather of 1. Also survived by 2 brothers, Ronnie and Bobby, and 2 sisters, Irene and Betty.

Teddy worked for Pontiac Motors for 47 years. He liked to do landscaping and lawn care but most of all he loved his family.

Graveside rites and burial will be held at the Cantley Cemetery at Rock Creek, WV, on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at 1 p.m.

There will be no visitation.
