Verda Louranna Mitchell Belcher

OCEANA — Verda Louranna Mitchell Belcher, 91, of Oceana, joined her beloved husband and became a member of the heavenly choir on Saturday Sept. 4, 2010, at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley.

She was born June 19, 1919 in Pineville, W.Va., a daughter of the late John and Delphie Elswick Mitchell.

Vertie was of the Apostolic faith, was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Charles L. Belcher Sr.; beloved great granddaughter Jaiden Bailey; beloved granddaughter, Tammy Hatfield; and brothers Eddie, Clyde, Grant, Parris, Claude, James and Estel Mitchell.

Survivors include her sons, Randall Belcher and wife Bethel of Iaeger, Charles Belcher Jr. and wife Diane of Oceana, Gary Belcher and wife Jezel of Spartaburg, S.C., and Nelson Belcher and wife Toni of Oceana; daughters, Pauline Krucheski of Ashtabula, Ohio, Betty Lester and companion, Roger Wilson of Oceana, Linda Hatfield and husband, James of Oceana, Helen Belcher and companion, Donnie Stafford of Oceana, and Darlene Wooten and husband, Billy of Beckley; a brother, Lewis Mitchell and wife, Georgia of Baileysville; 28 grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and an unborn great grandson Joshua Isahiah Belcher; and many other loving family and friends.

A celebration of Verda’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 9, 2010, in the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, W.Va., with Minister Nelson Belcher officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va.

Friends may gather with the family from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Nick Hatfield, Eugene Bailey, Greg Stewart, Joshua Belcher, James Hatfield and Toby Kenneda.

Frances Marie Campbell

RUCKERSVILLE, Va. — Mrs. Frances Marie Campbell, passed away on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010, at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Va., due to complications related to hip surgery.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Kilsyth, W.Va., on Nov. 6, 1922, to Norman R. Arthur and Kathleen Boggess Arthur.

She was a long time member of Grace Gospel Church in Beaver, W.Va. and for the last decade had been a member of the First Bible Baptist Church in Ruckersville.

Mrs. Campbell was a retired bookkeeper for Orkin Exterminating Company.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, James Arthur; and her husband, Freddy H. Campbell.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Edna C. Thompson and husband, Jeff of Ruckersville, Va., and Joan C. Callahan and husband, Ron of Stafford, Va.; a sister, Ann Dearing and husband, Frank of Prosperity and a sister-in-law, Macil Campbell of Hilltop W.Va. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will b a viewing at the Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill, today, Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside rites will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill, with Pastor Pat Haynes officiating.

Ronald Eugene Gallimore

PRINCETON — Ronald Eugene Gallimore, 69, of 208 Hale Ave., Princeton, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at his residence.

Born Jan. 5, 1941, in Ury, W.Va., he was the son of the late William Taft Gallimore and Georgia Trail Gallimore.

 He was a graduate of Mark Twain High School in Raleigh County and attended Beckley College. Ron was retired as General Manager of Operations for Pocahontas Land Corporation with 30 years service. He was a member of Burke Memorial Baptist Church and the West Virginia Mining Association. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Fountain Springs Golf Course. Ron was also a faithful fan of the West Virginia Mountaineers. He had been a resident of Princeton since 2007 moving here from Alderson, W.Va.

In addition to his parents, one brother, James Lee Gallimore preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rheda Wilson Gallimore of Princeton; two daughters, Teresa Ellen Gallimore of Princeton, and Lecia Smith and husband Danny of Blacksburg, Va.; two sons, Ronald Gallimore and wife Paula of Beckley and Stephen Gallimore of Princeton; nine grandchildren, Megan and Matthew Gallimore of Princeton, Jessica Gallimore of Beckley, Daniel (Tye) Griffith of Suffolk, Va., Christopher Smith of Washington, Pa., Bethany Smith of Roanoke, Va., Stephanie Rinehart and husband Nolan of Mullens, W.Va., John Gallimore and wife Jade of Morristown, Tenn., and Michael Gallimore of Beckley; one great grandchild, Alyssa Rinehart of Mullens; one sister, Margaret Williams and husband Jerry of Hudson, N.C.; two nephews, James Lee Gallimore and wife Mary Sue of Lexington, Ky., and Bill Williams of Princeton; one niece, Jerri Ruckner and husband Andrew of North Carolina; and extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Pastor Kevin Belcher and Butch Honaker officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Serving as pallbearers will be Fred Hill, Danny Robinson, Frank Hall, Bruce Crickmer, Bobby Wilkerson, Richard (Bud) Clapp, Mike Vines and Burton Perry.  Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Raines, Marvin Grose, James Doak, Gary Pettrey, Dick Preservati, Terry Kirk, John Payne, Connel Ware, Jerry Davis and Johnny Vistos.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010.

Jerry Wayne Hendricks

Jerry Wayne Hendricks, age 54, of Beckley, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, following a long illness.

Born on Sept. 15, 1955, at Union, W.Va., he was the son of Lillian McNabb Hendricks of Sinks Grove, W.Va., and the late Ernest Hendricks.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Army. Throughout his life, Jerry held several trades including automobile repair and as an appliance service technician. He enjoyed singing Karaoke and spending time with family and friends. He particularly enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. Jerry was a faithful and loving husband, and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Eddie Hendricks, his father-in-law John Arnett Lamb Sr., and his mother-in-law Freddie Mae Lamb, and by one niece.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol Lamb Hendricks; a daughter, Chrystal Naujoks of San Antonio, Texas; a son, Jason Hendricks of Beckley; a stepdaughter, Debbie McIntyre of Beckley; a stepson, Jim Johnson Jr. of Beckley. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Morgan of White Sulphur Springs, Brenda Gorham of Alexandria, Va., and Alice Gusti of Virginia Beach, Va., along with several nieces and nephews are among survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at 4 p.m. with Pastor Brian Harmon officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2:30 p.m. until service time on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society in his memory.

Raymond Lee Nugen II, age 27, of Shady Spring, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Ronnie Eugene Pack Sr.

MT. HOPE — Ronnie Eugene Pack Sr., age 63, of Mt. Hope, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2010, following a sudden illness.

Born June 13, 1947 in Beckley, he was the son of the late Fredrick Pack and Mary Gray  Pack.

Mr. Pack was an avid outdoorsman and mostly enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. He was a retired union carpenter and was employed as a contractor consultant for the Raleigh County Board of Education and was also past President of International Carpenters Local Union # 1911. He was very loyal to his work and most of all his family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Fred Pack.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Gloria Nelson Pack, at home; son Ronnie Pack and wife Michele of Prosperity; daughter Angela Metrick and husband Rex of Beckley; grandchildren Riley Pack, Lainey Pack, Chris Metrick, and Brittney Metrick; brothers Greg Pack of Maple Fork, Bruce Pack of Beckley, James Pack of Beckley; sisters Kathy Perdue of Coal City, Pat Meadows of Maple Fork, and Barbara Vance of Maple Fork; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside services and interment for Mr. Pack will be conducted 1:30 p.m. today,  Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity with Pastor Mike Gunnoe officiating.

Friends may gather with the family from 12 noon to 1 p.m. today, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home.

Harry Lewis Presock Jr., Sergeant Major, USA (Ret.), age 80, of Alderson, formerly of Latrobe, Pa., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, W.Va., following a long illness.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Hobert Mills and Pastor Roman Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at the funeral home.

Delilah Gay ‘Lyle’ Reed

OCEANA — Delilah Gay “Lyle” Reed 91, went home to be with the Lord Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her loving family following a long illness.

Born Sept. 26, 1918, in Covington, Va., she was the daughter of the late Abram McKinley and Leona Cook Acord.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker, she was a member of Delilah United Methodist Church where she was the oldest member, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands, first husband, Pierce Acord and 2nd husband, Herbert Reed; two sons, Pierce Acord and Aubrey Dale Acord; five sisters; and three brothers.

Those left to cherish her memory are four sons, Franklin D. Acord Sr., and wife Lena of Elkins, Kennie R. Acord and wife, Sue of Matheny, Coy B. Acord and wife Lottie of Virginia, and Hebert Steven Reed and wife Shirley of Matheny; four daughters, Nancy Jean Frazier of Chester, Va., Clairce K. Bailey and husband Winifred of Shelby Township, Mich., Linda G. Lilly and husband Dewey of Prince George, Va., and Eileen R. Stewart of Chester, Va.; a step-daughter, Earlia D. Derringer and husband Jack of Hazel Park, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Mildred Acord of Oceana; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two daughter-in-laws, Glenna Acord and Peggy Acord both of Virginia; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Mrs. Reed's life will be 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel with Rev. David White officiating. Mrs. Reed will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Casketbearers will be family and friends.

Mary Jo Collins Riffee

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Mary Jo Collins Riffee, age 49, of Jacksonville, formerly of Clear Creek, passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at her home.

Born on August 18, 1961, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Billy Joe Collins of Clear Creek, and Patsy Stover Atha of Oak Hill.

Mary Jo was retired from 84 Lumber Company as a developmental manager. She had made her home in Jacksonville, for the past two years. Mary Jo  was a member of the Jaxs Beach United Methodist Church in Florida. She was a graduate of Clear Fork High School, and had received an Associate’s Degree from Morris Harvey College.

Other than her parents survivors include her husband, Chris Riffee of Jacksonville, Florida; two brothers, Ira Ray Collins, and Timmy L. Collins, both of Clear Creek; a sister, Patty Fairthorne Jones and her husband Marc of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one niece, Rachel Morgan Jo Fairthorne, and one nephew, Tyler Ray Fairthorne, both of Elizabethtown, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Workman’s Creek Cemetery at Workman’s Creek.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.
