Charles Michael ‘Mike’ Bass
Charles Michael “Mike” Bass, 62, of Crab Orchard, fought a courageous and noble battle with cancer, found his ultimate healing in Heaven.
Mike was the son of the late Rev. Charles Bass and Orpha Marie Bass.
Those he left behind will cherish Mike include his wife Dawn “Hill” Bass; and daughter Lynn Bass Stover and her husband Eric, and their children Mia and Nolan; and daughters Erin Bass and Anne Bass; and a young lady he considered one of his own: Joanna Blair Fitzpatrick, and her husband Dale and their children Alden and Alex. Mike was considered a son rather than a son-in-law to Allan and Lila Hill of Beckley; and an amazing brother to Jane and Bob Morhard and an amazing uncle to their children Lauren, Ryan and Robert of Eagleville, Pa. Mike will always be remembered as a kind and generous man. Soft spoken and always a kind word to share.
Mike was a CPA for the Hess, Stewart & Campbell firm of Beckley. Mike’s passion was being able to coach his daughters’ soccer teams. In this role Mike was a positive influence to many young people’s lives. He was a man of strong faith, and a member and deacon of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
Mike’s request was for a celebration of life, to be held at the Crab Orchard Baptist Church activity building. Visitation is Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with celebration of life service to begin at 7:30 with Pastor Mike Sisson officiating.

Stanley Haywood Robinson
Mr. Stanley Haywood Robinson, 65, of Beckley, died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at VA Medical Center.
Born May 31, 1948, he was the son of Rebecca J. Robinson-Thomas of Beckley and the late Stanley J. Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was a Navy Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley J. Robinson.
Along with his mother, those left to cherish his memories are his sons, Brian Smith and Stanley Robinson Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; daughters, Kim Parker of Columbus, Ohio and Belinda Smith of Dayton, Ohio; brothers, Lee and Maurice Robinson of Beckley; sisters, Carrie Stroud-Armstrong of Milwaukee, Wis., Pearl Yarn of Saginaw, Mich., and Ethel Royal of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Ritchie and Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, 748 South Fayette St., Beckley, with Pastor William Fruit officiating. Burial will be at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar.

Olga Maria Sparks
Olga Maria Sparks, 86, of MacArthur, W.Va., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Olga was born on August 25, 1926 in Blatnica, Czechosolvakia, daughter of the late Andrew and Maria Kosman. Olga came to the United States at the age of four in 1930 and landed at Ellis Island in New York City. Her family immigrated to Chicago and then later moved to Boyceville, Wisconsin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Kosman; a sister, Vera Turchany; and a step-mother, Emilia “Millie” Kosman.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, George W. Sparks Sr. of MacArthur; children, George W. Sparks Jr., of Denver, Colo.; Mike Sparks and spouse, Kathy, of Beckley, Patti Varner, of Morgantown, W.Va.; and Dale Sparks, and spouse, Lisa, also of Morgantown. She is also survived by her sister, Irene Klatt and spouse, John; and her brother, John Kosman and spouse, Helen, all of Menomonie, Wis. In addition, she is survived by nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Olga was a homemaker and was a devout Christian often serving as a “Prayer Warrior” for anyone in need. She enjoyed praying and reading her Bible, singing hymns, quilting and baking her famous homemade rolls. She touched many lives and will be sadly missed by all who knew this wonderful woman. She was a member of the Crab Orchard Baptist Church for over 60 years serving in many capacities including a former member of the Deaconess Board, a Guild Girls leader, a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class, a Prayer Group member, a member of Circle #2, a Quilting Group member and a member of her beloved church choir.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home in Beckley. Services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, 2013 with visitation an hour before at Crab Orchard Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be sent to Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

Paulette ‘Polly’ Stover Williams
Paulette “Polly” Stover Williams, age 66, of Clear Creek, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born December 13, 1946, at Clear Creek, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn and Bessie Ewings Stover.
Polly was a care giver and also worked at Kellys Corner at Pax, W.Va. She was the Christian faith, loved to play cards, read, pitch horseshoes and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred B. Williams and by two brothers, Wilburn Hubert Jr. and David Hubert.
Surviving are her son, Mike Williams of Clear Creek, her grandchildren, Caressa Williams Browning, Derek Chance Williams, Phoenix Michael Williams and Aaron David Williams, her great grandchildren, Zoey Jade Williams and Zaiden River Williams, her loving care givers, loving daughter-in-law, Vickie Williams and spouse David Williams. Also surviving are her brother, Bronston Lee Stover of Beckley; her two sisters, Aline Williams of Artie, W.Va. and Evetta Williams of Beckley. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services with be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Ewings Creek Community Church with Becky Maynor officiating. Burial will follow beside her husband Winfred on her home property.
