Clorine Brogan

On June 7, 2013, Clorine Brogan, a coal miner’s daughter, wife of a disabled WWII veteran, mother of four, grandmother of seven, great grandmother of eight, passed and is now in heaven with loved ones and relatives who have gone on before.

Born on August 22, 1927, in the coal camp of of Krebs, W.Va., she was the daughter of William Silas Scarbro and Mary Abigail Wriston Scarbro.

The second sister of 12 children, she was affectionately called “Sis”. Mrs. Brogan was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, and three sisters. Four of those brothers having died from the Paint Creek flood of 1932.

Mrs. Brogan married Deskar Lewis Brogan on January 4, 1947. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in April 2007.

She is survived by their children, Billie Lorraine Wood and her husband Jim of Grandview, Millard Lewis Brogan and his wife Janie of Houston, Texas, James Lee Brogan and his wife Shery of Athens, and Roger Gale Brogan of Prosperity.

Her beloved grandchildren, William Stuart Farley Jr., Lewis Scott Brogan, Kevin Patrick Farley and his wife Rebecca, Richard Warren Brogan, Nicole Brogan-Pavleck and her husband Guy, Kelley Lorraine Brogan, and Anna Gale Brogan.

Great grandchildren are Matthew Wayne Farley, Rebecca Marie Farley, Mary Abigail Farley, Noah Patrick Farley, Jacob William Farley, Niam Juliet Pavleck, and Darcy Aurora Baugh.  Soon to arrive is Rian Noelle Pavleck.

One brother, Loie Edward Scarbro of Florida, three sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Her guardian angels were Terry Rojas, Rebecca Farley, Erica Ward, Martha Goble, Mary Farley, and Nikki Guest of Hospice.

Mrs. Brogan was a lifelong member of the Stanaford Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Rev. George Wood officiating. Burial will follow at the Lively Cemetery at Sod, W.Va. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service time of 1 p.m.

Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
