Russell Goff Sr.

Russell Goff Sr., age 79, of Lester, passed away at the Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley on Wednesday, October 17, 2012.

Born on November 17, 1932 in Maple Meadow, he was the son of the late Fred Goff and Rose Gray Goff.

Mr. Goff was last employed as log truck driver, and was a former coal miner. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Goff enjoyed working on lawn mowers and enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrytle Goff, by brothers, Bill, John, Harrison and by sisters Virginia, Pearl, and  Elsie.

Those survivors left to cherish his memory include his children: Russell Goff Jr. and his wife Phylichia of Coal City, Martha Pettry of Lester, Stanley Goff of Lester, Robert Goff of Lester, Phillip Goff of Tolleytown, Wesley Goff and his wife Alicia of Lester, Cindy Duncan and her companion Randy Snuffer of Tolleytown, and Joseph Hudson of Lester.

A brother, George Goff of Maple Meadow; two sisters, Hattie Griffith of Surveyor, and Hazel Dickens of Charleston, W.Va. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren are also among his survivors.

Funeral services will be conducted to Celebrate The Life of Russell Goff on Saturday,  October 20, 2012 at 11 a.m., at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Rev. Dewey Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Jason Jay Goins

OAK HILL — Jason Jay Goins, 40, lifelong resident of Oak Hill, went to be with his Grannies and the Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012.  

Jay was a loving son, brother, uncle, friend and father. Jay, “Jughead”, enjoyed 4-wheeling, guns, shooting matches, riding his Harley and being with his family and friends.

He was employed by Mel’s Small Engine Repair Shop and delivered for Cardinal Caskets and was a Jack of all Trades. He was a longtime Moose Lodge member of Oak Hill #1664.

Jay was born April 8, 1972 (4872) and preceded in death by his Grandma Goins, Granny Rhodes and Littiebelle McClung.

Those left to cherish his memories are his father and mother Meldon and Doris Goins, his siblings Meldena Goins Green and husband Billy Green, Pete Goins, Sandra Goins Rosiek and William Goins, and a special niece and great nephew Jennifer and Jacob Rosiek. There are a host of other relatives and friends too many to mention but you know who you are.

His remains rest at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, 1435 E. Main St., Oak Hill, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and where the funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Satuday with Pastor Windy McClung oO=fficiating. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park.
