Eugene C. “Gene” Allen, 61, of Oak Hill, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, following a long illness.
In accordance with his wishes he was cremated and a memorial service may be scheduled at a later date.

Wilma J. Allen
Wilma J. Allen, 83, of Oceana passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Bowers Hospice House, Cranberry.
Born April 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Frank Harvey and Lillie McCall Harvey.
Wilma was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Matheny, and the Davin Baptist Church.
She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Allen, Sr.; two daughters, Carol Bachara and Brenda Jean Toler; brothers, Rennis Harvey and Howard Harvey; and sisters, Shelvie Goodman and Retha Lester.
Survivors include sons, Dennis W. Allen, Jr. and his wife Gail, of Oceana, David Allen and his wife Pamela, of Ga., Richard Allen, of the residence; daughter, Gloria Lambert and her husband Freddie, of Lynco; brothers, Rondel Harvey and his wife Kathleen, of Lynco, Frankie Harvey and his wife Diane, of Hickory, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Mary McGovern, of Lynco.
A celebration of Wilma’s life will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, in the Evans Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Toler and Rev. Johnny Hatfield officiating.
Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013.

Lura Jirldean Taylor Durham
Lura Jirldean Taylor Durham, age 92, of Grandview, formerly of 523 Bero Avenue, Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, 2013.
Lura was born on January 5, 1921, to parents Julia Brevard Taylor and Emerson Taylor in Greenbrier County.
Lura worked at The Nature Shop, Piggly Wiggly, Quickies Market, G. C. Murphy, Beckley Manufacturing and was a successful Avon Representative. Lura also attended Beckley College.
Lura had many interests including, flea marketing, yard sales, painting and flowers. She was a member of the Beckley Art Group and Women’s Auxiliary Post 32. She was also very active in her church and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Beckley.
Lura was preceded in death by her loving husband Martin A. Durham; brother, Emerson C. Taylor; her father, Emerson Earl Taylor; her step-father, Talmor Egnor and her mother, Julia Brevard Taylor Egnor.
Left to cherish her memory are her twin sister, Luella Iidean Hornsby of Milton, Ohio and Lura’s four children, Martin Emerson Durham and his wife Ina, of Beckley, Michael Gene Durham and his wife Robbin, of Flat Top, Gary Dean Durham and his wife Cathy, of South Charleston, and Kimberly Luella and her husband Roger W. Redden, of Grandview.
Lura was very caring, giving and tender hearted and loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. She treasured her eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Michael Dewayne Durham, Rachel Durham Pauley, Merlin Gene Durham, Laura Jane Durham Barbera, Travis Lee Durham, Carrie Jeanette Durham Ray, Andrew Martin Redden and Matthew Guy Redden.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Richard Wagoner officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.

John Franklin Fisher, 86, of Charleston, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Eastbrook Nursing facility in Charleston following an extended illness.
Services to celebrate the life of John will be conducted at noon Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at the Long and Fisher Funeral Home Chapel in Sissonville with Rev. Gerald Lanham officiating.
Interment will follow at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, Sissonville where military graveside rites will be conducted.

Ernie Daris Jones Sr.
On Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, the Lord called Ernie Daris Jones Sr. home to be with his beloved wife, Ruby Lilly Coffman Jones.
Born on April 11, 1932, at Abraham, he was the son on the late Juddie Daris and Effie Mae Kelly Jones.
Mr. Jones was a retired surveyor for Pentree, Inc. He attended Christ Fellowship and he loved trains, coal mining, and enjoyed spending time with people.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by devoted wife, Ruby Lilly Coffman Jones; and son, Mark Allen Jones.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Ernie Daris Jones, Jr. and his wife, Jean, of Brooklyn; two sisters, Betty Lou Sears, of Brooklyn, and Barbara Wilson, of Chicago, Ill.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and lots of special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Robert Morey officiating. Burial will follow at Cunard Cemetery.

Jerry Dwain McDaniel
Jerry Dwain McDaniel, 71, of Stanaford, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, following a recent illness.
Born June 5, 1942, in Piney View, he was the son of the late Jerome and Agnes Connor McDaniel.
Jerry was drafted into the U.S. Army and served his country from 1963 to 1966. Jerry loved spending time with his family, going to antique car shows and making pies for his family and friends. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Lanark.
Jerry was a very loving father, paw-paw, and brother. He was known by many for his kind heart and willingness to help others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister Margaret Ann McDaniel and his sister Lois McDaniel Meade.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Pamela Moritz and her husband Randy, of Orrtanna, Pa.; his son, Greg McDaniel and wife Laurie, of New Oxford, Pa.; three grandsons, Tyler, and Tanner Moritz, and Kurtis Weaver; and one granddaughter, Rylie McDaniel, all of Pa.; five brothers, Harold McDaniel and his wife Paula, Gary McDaniel, Darrell McDaniel and his wife Dreama, Bill McDaniel and his wife Ellie, Jeff McDaniel and his wife Edna; four sisters, Etta Meadows and her husband Pete, Betty Snodgrass and her husband Woody, Sandy Wingrove and her husband Wayne, and Patty Fox and her husband Wayne; and a host of nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.

Deborah Ann Gray-Pizzino, 45, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.
Born September 30, 1968, in Beckley, she was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Gillenwater Gray, of Crab Orchard.
Deborah loved car racing, working crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she is survived by daughters, Ashley Necessary and husband Kenny and Destiny Kidd, of Crab Orchard; companion, Wavel Wooten, of Crab Orchard; grandmother, Louise Gillenwater, of Crab Orchard; aunts, Barbara Small of Zebulon, NC and Kay Spence, of Crab Orchard; uncle, Bill Gillenwater, of Sophia and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Ulysses Grant Sandy Jr.
Ulysses Grant Sandy, Jr., 85, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1928, in Bolair on the family farm.
He was the second child born to the late Ulysses Grant Sandy Sr. and Nellie Rose Mustoe Sandy.
He graduated from Hellier High School, Hellier, Ky., in 1946. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps on June 20, 1946. He was stationed at Marine Corp Casual Air Squadron, Cherry Point, NC. He was a member of the West Virginia Army National Guard from 1948 to 1952.
Surviving him is his wife of 61 years, Loraine Thacker Sandy, of Bud, three sons, Mark and daughter-in -law Kathryn Sandy, of Richmond, Ky., Mike and daughter-in-law Tammy Sandy, of Bud, and Joel Sandy of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Kraig, Madison, Kyle, Kara, Jared; great-granddaughter Emma; four sisters and two brothers, Madge Capps, of Greenville, S.C., Shirley Tyree, of Mossy, Barabra Strickland, of Hampton, Va., Patricia Rice, of Bolair, Larry Sandy, of Bolair, and Robert Sandy, of Salem, Va.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Lusk officiating. A private burial service will follow in McAvoy Cemetery, Upper Glade.
