Richard W. Bland

Richard W. Bland, 67, of Beckley, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.

Gerald L. Frazier

GLEN FORK — Gerald L. Frazier, 62, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, at Raleigh General Hospital.

Born Oct. 18, 1951, in Beckley, he was the son of the late Raymond and Stella Ann Irick Frazier.

Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and was a retired coal miner. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and loved ones. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was a very kind, caring, loving and unselfish person who was always there for anyone who needed him. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Leann Frazier; a sister, Linda Sue Wright; and a brother, Donald Micheal Frazier.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Pamela Canada Frazier; three children, Pammy Toler and her husband, very special son-in-law, Heath, of NC, Michael Frazier of Gilbert and Jerry Frazier and his wife, Julianna, of Glen Fork; three brothers, Raymond, Gary and Robert Frazier all of Sabine; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Stewart, Brittany Fox, Jordan Sizemore, Courtney Dishmon, Josh Frazier, Brandi Frazier, Tiarra Frazier and Bella Frazier; and one great-granddaughter, Destiny Fox.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Evans Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Valdus Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

Everett L. Harper

OAK HILL — Everett L. Harper, 77, of Oak Hill, passed away January 4, 2014.

He was born January 4, 1936, to the late Clem and Ocie Davis Harper.

Everett was an Evangelist Minister and a retired contractor.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by great-granddaughter Harmony Madeline Campbell; sisters, Carol Solomon, Evelyn Creamans; brothers Stevie Harper, Larry Harper, Brady Harper; niece, Billie Beard; nephews, Mark Harper and Kevin King.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Denise Ballard, Yvonne Ballard, Donna Harper, Yvette Guthrie; sons, Wayne Harper, David Harris, Michael Harris; caretaker, Jane Newton; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, at Summerlee Wesleyan Church, Oak Hill, with Pastor John Harper officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Rev. Gregory Scott Hostutler

OAK HILL — Rev. Gregory Scott Hostutler, 54, of Oak Hill, died on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at his home.

Born May 17, 1959, at Xenia, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leroy K. and T. Kathleen Sigmon Hostutler.

Greg’s calling was to the ministry. He had the heart of a Pastor. His vocation was as a maintenance mechanic at the Mine Safety and Health Academy and he was former General Contractor. He was a graduate of Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

He leaves behind a loving family which includes his wife, Patricia Lou “Pattie” Pratt Hostutler; one son, Joel Gregory Hostutler and wife, Lisa, of Morgantown; two daughters, Rebecca Hostutler Sommers and husband, Nathan, of Nolensville, TN, and Rachael Hostutler Gill and husband, Jeff, of Fayetteville; and one granddaughter, Abbigail Sommers.

Also surviving are his brother, Keith Hostutler and wife, Susie, of Parkersburg, and two sisters, Olive Smith and husband, Glen, of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Dana Poff and husband, Jerry, of London, Ohio.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Church of God in Hilltop with Rev. Rudell Bloomfield officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

Visitation will be held at Mountain View Church of God on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m.

We feel this is a wonderful way to honor Greg. He spent his life serving others and we would like more lives to be touched in his absence. Robert Adrian Kees

OAK HILL — Robert Adrian Kees, 85, of Oak Hill, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley.

Born May 28, 1928, at Ligon, Ky., he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mary Elizabeth Lucas Kees.

Given the name Corky as a small child, he grew up on Paint Creek in Burnwell. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family being preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth B. Kees and Donald G. Kees, in addition to his parents.

He served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 until 1949 and from 1950 until 1951, being a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He married Nancy Ann Rutledge on December 19, 1948, in Glasgow. The couple lived in North Carolina, Kentucky and Michigan before settling in Oak Hill in 1958.

Bob was a member of the Salem Road Freewill Baptist Church. He was a loyal and faithful Christian who loved going to church and loved his church family.

He was a longtime member and past president of the Oak Hill Lions Club.

The former owner/operator of Kees’ Gulf Station, located at the current site of Tyree Funeral Home, Bob retired from Sears after 25 years. He was one of Sears’ top salesmen for many years and received many awards and commendations from the company. He also worked for Superior Furniture for more than 10 years before retiring.

Survivors include wife of 65 years and the love of his life, Ann Kees; and three sons, Robert P. Kees and wife, Barbara, of Cross Lanes, WV, Pastor Michael W. Kees and wife, Kathy, of Oak Hill and Timothy S. Kees and wife, Lazenda, of Oak Hill.

In addition, he is survived by his ten grandchildren, Kim (Robert) Spradling of Raleigh, NC, Mandy (Barth) Lacy of Cross Lanes, Mary Beth Kees of Charleston, Adrienne Kees, Andy (Amber) Kees, J.T. Kees, Caleb Kees, Simeon Kees, Eli Kees and Olivia Kees, all of Oak Hill.

He was the proud great-grandfather of Lindee, Wyatt and Shelby Lacy of Nitro and Rylee Beth Colon of Oak Hill.

Also surviving are sister-in-law, Reba Kees of Plymouth, MI, and close friend and “son” Dwayne Adkins of Scarbro. He will be sorely missed by his cat, Muffin.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Salem Road Freewill Baptist Church in Oak Hill with Pastor Mike Kees and Rev. Allen Gallimore officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.

Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Andy Kees, J.T. Kees, Caleb Kees, Simeon Kees, Eli Kees, Barth Lacy and Robert Spradling will serve as pallbearers.

WILLIAMSON — Donald “Don” Ray Kinzer, 77, of Williamson, formerly of Stollings, passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2014.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, with Brother Otis Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Garden. Friends may call on the family starting at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

PETERSTOWN — James Loren McGhee, 89, of Peterstown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.

Rachel Marie Richmond

Rachel “Marie” Richmond, a resident of the Villages of Greystone, previously of Russell St., Beckley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2014, at the age of 96.

She was born at Abraham, Raleigh County, to the late Charles Ota and Flora Arthur Smith on August 20, 1917.

Marie, as she was known by all of her family and friends, was a dedicated homemaker for 69 years to her loving husband, Billy Edward Richmond, until he passed away in 2006.

One of her many loves was her flower gardens which she could make anything grow into something beautiful and the love she had for her family which went beyond unparalleled measures.

Mrs. Richmond was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Edward Richmond; a son, Billy Eugene Richmond; a grandson, John Edward Richmond; sisters Juanita Fitzgerald, June Westfall, Louella Goodson and Eileen Mann; brothers Sebird, Dempsey, Robert Noel and Charles “C.O.” Smith Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory, daughter-in-law, Patty Richmond of Beckley; granddaughter, Donna Richmond and her fiancé Gene Price of Maple Fork; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor Ryan Richmond of Morgantown, WV, and Madison Sierra Cummings of Maple Fork.

A special thank you is given to Mrs. Richmond’s daughter-in-law, Patty Richmond, for her effortless time that she willingly gave in taking care of Mrs. Richmond over the past 8 years. She was truly “Marie’s” angel here on Earth.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. John Lares officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
