Linda Lee Stiffler
Linda Lee Stiffler, 66, of Beckley, WV, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 26, 2013. Linda was a genuine Christian who always had a kind word, a warm smile, and motherly advice for all who had the privilege to know her.
Linda was born on February 15, 1947, in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
The daughter of Herbert and Verna Dysard Cunningham of Coalport, Pennsylvania, Linda met a young man, Jim Stiffler, who would become her high school sweetheart. Shortly after high school graduation, her sweetheart answered the call to serve his country. Upon his return stateside the two were married February 10, 1967.
After moving their young family to West Virginia, Linda began a career at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. After being diagnosed with Interstitial Pulmonary Fibrosis and unable to continue her career, Linda retired after more than 20 years of service. Linda's lung disease eventually led her to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where she received a double lung transplant in November of 2010. Her post-transplant time was not always easy. During the difficult times she relied on faith, scripture, and family. One of her favorite scriptures was Matthew 7:25. Her husband Jim, daughter Traci and son-in-law Mike Sweeney were extraordinary in her transplant journey. Linda and her entire family was and will always be eternally grateful to the donor family that made the decision to donate the gift of life.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Verna Cunningham, sister Katherine Hoover, and her best friend and sister-in-law Lydia Cunningham.
Those left on earth to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband Jim of 46 years; her son Troy and wife Stephanie of Meadow Creek, WV, Bishop Todd Stiffler and wife Sheri Stiffler of Pulaski, VA, and daughter Traci and husband Mike Sweeney of Shady Spring, WV.
Her most precious gifts are her 7 grandchildren TJ, Trenton, Tristan, Tanner, Tripp, Taelyn, and Tab. In keeping with Linda's spirit, she left the following words of motherly advice in her Bible, “Memories are precious, they keep you going and are forever in your heart. Love is so special. God is love — He cares for us the way we love our kids. Life is precious. Keep God in your heart and always ask Him to guide. You will see him working in your life, if you don't know Him invite Him into your heart. God loves you and he will take care of you.”
