Ronnie Lyniel Meadows
CAMP CREEK — Ronnie Lyniel Meadows, 69, of Camp Creek, WV, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2013, at Princeton Community Hospital.
Born December 18th, 1943, he was the son of the late Ivan Edward and Myrtle Jane Meadows.
During his lifetime, Ronnie graduated from Spanishburg High School and attended two years of college at Concord University. He worked briefly at United Airlines in Chicago before being called to service in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.
After 4 years of service he went on to work a number of jobs: a technician for the Princeton Sanitary Board, maintenance for the Board of Education Physical Plant, a dialysis technician for BMA/Fresenius Kidney Dialysis Unit in Green Valley. He worked for Consol and Justice Energy as a driller on several strip mining operations: Three Forks Strip, Reed Strip and the job he retired from which was as a driller on Red Fox Strip.
Ronnie was, above all, a good hard-working family man who loved being surrounded by family and friends.
His hobbies were hunting, working on the farm and gathering for weeklong reunions with his sisters, cousins, and many nieces and nephews. It was a joy to him when family and friends would come to visit on the farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Albert, Hubert, and Eldridge.
Also preceding him were two sisters, Pauline Lilly and Athaline Kulbe Jilek.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary Hanchon Meadows, one daughter, Denise Convery and husband Brad of Camp Creek, and one son Ronnie Jr. and wife Rebecca Ellison Meadows of Camp Creek, Four grandchildren: Brandon Convery, Amber Convery, Jill Meadows and Jacob Meadows.
Four sisters, Virginia Howe of Pensacola, FL, Launa Bowling and husband Carl of Arlington Heights, IL, Velma Burton and husband Jack of Fairmont, WV, and his very special sister Juanita Smith and her husband Raymond of Charlottesville, VA.
In keeping with Ronnie’s wishes, his body will be cremated and there will be no formal funeral service. The family will plan a celebration of his life to be held later in the spring “when the leaves on the dogwood trees are the size of squirrels’ ears.”
The family would like to extend deepest gratitude to all those who tended to Ronnie during his hospital stay. The doctors, nursing staff and many others who were so good to Ronnie and the whole family. We will always remember your professionalism and your kindness.
Because there will be no service, flowers are, of course, unnecessary. However, in lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Jonathan Powell Hope Foundation or Princeton Hospital Hospitality House, two worthy causes which were a great help to the family during this difficult time.
Online condolence may be shared with the family via www.memorialfd.com.
