TROUTMAN, N.C. — Kelly Jean Anderson, 51 of Troutman, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Tower Nursing and Rehab in Raleigh, N.C., after a long Illness.
Born March 21, 1961, in Beckley, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Shirley Anderson of Glen Rodgers.
Kelly worked in healthcare for many years and enjoyed caring for others and spending time with family and friends. Kelly’s favorite times was watching Dalton play sports.
She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her two brothers, Jerry Anderson of Charleston, W.Va., Kevin Anderson and wife Cyndi, of Troutman, N.C.; one sister Coleen Anderson of Raleigh, N.C.; a nephew, Dalton Anderson of Troutman, N.C.
Memorial services celebrating Kelly’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. at Glen Rodgers Community Church in Glen Rodgers, W.Va.

KOPPERSTON — Corine Elswick Blankenship, 77, of Kopperston, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, in the Oceana Freewill Baptist Church, with Pastor Jackie Grimmett officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

LEWISBURG — Marshall Brant, 88, of Lewisburg, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 9, 1924, he was the son of the late Harry and Ada Flecher Brant.
He was a member of Enon Baptist Church. He retired from Appalachian Tire and Greenbrier State Forest. He was a Navy veteran of World war II.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Browie Stover, Cleo Corprew, Pearl McClung, Grace Brant and Helen Drishell, and two brothers, Basil and James.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Lewisburg; a son, Vincent of Martinsburg; two daughters, Donna Brant of Frederick, Md. and Debra Cooper of Blacksburg, Va.; a sister, Audra Tye of Lancaster, Texas; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Memorial Chapel of McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg, with the Rev. Steve Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

MONROE, N.C. — Marita Wikel Browning, 88, formerly of Pineville, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2012, at Palm Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, with the Rev. Bobby Bannister officiating. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service Friday.

Mary Christine Cabe
BRIDGEVILLE, Pa. — Mary Christine Cabe of Bridgeville, formerly of Beckley, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 10, 2012, after a long and enjoyable life.
She was born December 25, 1918 in Andrews, N.C., the daughter of the late William Ross Jones and Mabel (Robinson) Jones.
She was an active member in the First Baptist Church of Beckley for over 50 years and loved mentoring children in the after school program there for years. Aside from being a homemaker and living her life for the Lord she was employed at both G.C. Murphy and Stone and Thomas. She enjoyed many years as a member of the Beckley Garden Club, as well as, several other art and quilting guilds. She was a very loving grandmother, as well as, an adoring and adulating great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Cabe Sr., sisters Mabel (Jones) Padgett and Sue (Jones) O'Kelly, brothers William Robert Jones, James Ross Jones Gerald Edwin Jones and a daughter-in-law D. Pamela Cabe.
She is survived by her three sons James Earl Cabe Jr. of McMurray, Pa., Charles Anthony Cabe of Daniels, and Jerry Lynn Cabe of Cincinnati, Ohio. Other survivors include: a sister Maxine (Jones) Crisp, daughters-in-law Carole Rigg and Charla Cabe; grandchildren, James Albany Cabe, Danette (Cabe) Croaston and her husband James, Amy (Cabe) Wateska and her husband Joseph, Colleen Marie Cabe and Christine Lynn Cabe. Great-grandchildren, Kailey Breanne Cabe, Joseph James Wateska, Pamela Anne Wateska and Carter James Croaston. She is also survived by a special friend Lois Gander, who brought countless smiles into her life through her loving companionship and endless acts of kindness.
A visitation will be held at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home in Prosperity, W.Va., on Thursday, November 15th from 6 to 9 p.m. for family and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at the Blue Ridge Funeral Home on Friday, November 16, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Donald Adkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Zeb V. Duncan, 96, of Coal City, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at home following a long illness.
Born January 13, 1916 in Gardner, W.Va., he was the son of the late Earl A. and Zula Mae Duncan. Also preceding him in death is his wife Aimee R. Duncan.
Zeb was a retired coal miner having worked for Westmoreland Coal Company, and a member of the Coal City Church of God.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Erma Faye Graham and husband Fred of Coal City; two sons, Billy Joe Duncan and wife Belita of Newark, Del., and James V. Duncan of Daniels, W.Va.; grandson Billy Joe Duncan Jr.; three granddaughters, Vickie Jean, Crystal Odessa and Jana Aimee; five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2012, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, with Rev. Timothy Akers, Rev. Nina Bays and Rev. Clarence Lee officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, November 15. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Jane L. ‘Lee’ Lewis
POINT PLEASANT — Jane L. “Lee” Lewis, 76, of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 19, 1936, in Beckley, W.Va., a daughter of the late Lawrence N. Brackenrich and Etheline (Ballard) Brackenrich.
Lee was a member of Life Spring Community Church of Point Pleasant, and a retired teacher with the Mason County Board of Education with 33 years service. She was also a member of Mason County Retired Teachers Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, was selected as Who's Who Among Teachers, and an avid gardener.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Jane and Dan Brisker of Oak Hill, Ohio and Pamela Sue and Ellis Gaines of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Andrea (Daniel) Noles of Charlotte, NC, Drew (Tiffany) Hussell of Huntington, WV, Dylan Gaines and Drake Gaines of Raleigh, NC; and one great grandson Weston Noles of Charlotte, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Wilcoxen Funeral Home in Point Pleasant, with Pastor Ed Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Concord Cemetery in Henderson, W.Va. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

James Lee Lucas
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of James Lee Lucas, of Beaver, on November 11, 2012. He was 56 years of age.
Born on Beckley on June 23, 1956, James was the beloved son of the late James Lucas and Elizabeth Taylor Lucas of Raleigh.
Employed as an mechanic for Vecellio and Grogan and Pritchard Mining, James loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory is the love of his life his wife, Martha Jane; he was the dear father of Jamie Stump and her husband, Jett of Beaver and Shawn Lucas and his wife Jennifer of Daniels; the doting grandfather of Cierrra Stump and Kamiah Lucas; the fond brother of Ernest Lucas and his wife, Leiasa of Pipestem, Roy Lucas and wife Roxie of Beckley; several nieces and a nephew also survive.
On Thursday, Nov. 15th at 1 p.m. we will celebrate the life of James Lucas with a “Service of Remembrance” at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Stanley Metz officiating. James will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour.

Myrtle Shaw Shrewsbury, age 89, of Daniels, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the Bowers Hospice House.
Born March 30, 1923 in Lillybrook, WV, to the late Frank and Bessie Pittman Shaw.
Myrtle was a member of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church. She was also a graduate of Shady Spring High School Class of 1941. She was a graduate of Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield and also owned and operated her own beauty shop for over 20 years.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paris Shrewsbury; sisters, Thelma Silvick and Helen Johnson Lilly; and her brothers, James Shaw and Edward Shaw; and a daughter-in-law, Anna Shrewsbury.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her sons, Billy Shrewsbury of Glen Morgan and Rodney Shrewsbury also of Glen Morgan; sister, Virginia Snyder of South Carolina.
Graveside rites and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity, with Rev. Harmon Davis officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Donald Roy Williams, 71, of Pax, died on Monday, November 12, 2012, at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.
Born August 8, 1941, at Clear Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Sherman and Orfice Wriston Williams.
He was a retired coal miner for Consol Coal.
Mr. Williams was a member of the Pax Worship Center and UMWA Local #1330.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Scarbrough Williams; a son, Paul David Williams; son-in-law, Cecil Williams; sister, Millie Wilson and two brothers, Ronald Williams and Glen Williams.
Survivors include sons, Dwayne Williams and wife, Judy of Pax and Gary Williams and wife, Renee of Pax; daughters, Theresa Tyree and husband, Robert of Pax, Rebecca Pritt and husband, Charlie of Pax and Sandra Williams of Pax; two brothers, Thurmond Williams of Pax and Ricky Williams of Pax; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

LANSING — David Lee “Dave” Workman, 25, of Lansing, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at CAMC General Division, Charleston.
Born on June 30, 1987, at Beckley, he was the son of John Workman and the late Lisa Renee Tincher Workman.
Dave shared a “gift of life” by being an organ donor and because of his generous gift many lives will be enriched. He worked in construction at various coal mines in West Virginia.
His mother, Lisa Renee Tincher Workman, preceded him in death in 2001.
Left to cherish his memory include his father, John Workman and stepmother, Donna of Lansing; two brothers, Dennis Workman and wife Julie of Lansing, and John Workman Jr. of Kentucky; four nephews, Jacob Workman, James Workman, Casey Workman, and Isaac Workman; grandmother, Josephine Workman of Lansing; and a host of other family and friends.
