Chris Chalos

RICHMOND, Va. — Chris Eugene Chalos, 70, of Richmond, was born April 30th, 1942 in Montcoal, West Virginia. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 6th, 2012.

Preceded in death by his parents Myrt and Jim Charles, a Greek immigrant coal miner, his brother Ray, sister Phyllis and his twin brother Mickey.

Survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Kay, who was by his side from the age of 16 until the very end. She will love him forever. Together, their love produced four wonderful children, whom Chris loved without condition: Philip (Melissa), Christy (Debby), Dewey (Towonica) and Stevie (Heather). Chris is and will always be “Poppy” to nine grandchildren, who were his pride and joy: Kenneth, Julia, Nicholas, Grace, Jackson, Maridith, Carson, Clint and Mickey.

Chris is also survived by two sisters, Irene (Harvey), Alice, and his brother, Terry Chalos, along with a host of brothers and sisters in-law, lifelong friends, church family and co-workers who will miss him dearly.

An 8-year veteran of the United States Air Force (1960-1968), Chris served and loved his country with devotion to the end, so much that he filled out an emergency ballot and voted from his hospital bed in the 2012 election, which took place on the day he died.

A computer engineer for NEC of America in Richmond, Va., Chris loved the challenge of working on the AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) and appreciated all the fine folks at the Virginia State Police headquarters.

Chris loved the Lord and lived out his faith in kindness and service to others. He possessed a keen sense of humor that never failed, even up the end. There is no ‘in lieu of flowers’ here because Chris liked flowers.
