James ‘Jim’ Sizemore

James “Jim” Sizemore, 80, of Beckley, was called home to be with his Lord and to be reunited with his wife Betty, on Thursday, November 1, 2012, in a Charleston hospital, following a long battle with black lung.

Born April 6, 1932, in Glen Fork, he was the son of the late Glen and Opal Brooks Sizemore.

Jim was a veteran serving in the army.

Jim was a retired coal miner, and after his retirement he was employed as maintenance worker at Crossroads Mall in Beckley, where he was well known by all that knew him.

Jim was a very accomplished craftsman; he enjoyed making things from wood; some of the many items he made were the bird houses that are still in use at the Crossroads Mall, and he also enjoyed making furniture.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty Sizemore.

Those left to cherish Jim’s memory include his three children, Kathy Sizemore, Eric Sizemore and wife Beverly, and Michael Sizemore, all of Beckley; two grandchildren, Brian Sizemore and wife Marley, and Corey Sizemore, all of Beckley. His four brothers, Gary Sizemore, Frank Sizemore, “Stormy” Sizemore, and Ed “DD” Sizemore, and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-laws and nieces and nephews, and countless beloved friends.

A service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012, in the chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Following the service Jim will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
