TROUT — Dorothy Adaline Lewis Barker died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.

GLEN ROGERS — Harry D. Clitis, 43, departed this life Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.

Media ‘Alice’ Little Dickerson
Media Alice Little Dickerson of Odd went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
She was born on Oct. 15, 1925, in Stover, W.Va., to the parents of late Perry and Bertha Little.
She was a member of Westview Missionary Baptist Church and was a housewife and homemaker.
She enjoyed quilting, needlework and reading.
Alice’s greatest joy in life was her family and the youth group that she worked with during the time that H.K “Sarge” Manning was Pastor of Westview.
In addition to her parents Alice was preceded in death by her husband, S.N. “Jack” Dickerson; her youngest daughter, Kathy Louise Hutchens; her youngest son, Jack Edward Dickerson; and several brothers and sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Samuel P. Dickerson of Saltville, Va.; daughters, Nanette Roark of Ghent, Roberta Ayers and husband Bill A. of Odd and Bertha Oliver of Odd; 17 loving grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Brown of Beckley, Ruby Burleson of Amigo, Janice Bircham of Conneaut, Ohio; and a brother, Donald Little and his wife Viola of Orange City, Fla.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Dan Meadows officiating assisted by her grandson, Richard Dickerson. Burial will follow at Tom Lilly Cemetery at Ghent.
Grandsons and a great-grandson will be serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers: Tom Dickerson, Joshua Roark, Dennis Roark, Patrick Roark, Bill Ayers, Jason Ayers, Jeremiah Dickerson, Paul Dickerson, Eric Hutchens, and Shaun Testerman.
Friends may gather with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Saturday, at the funeral home.
Patrick Roark’s constant care of his grandmother during the weeks of her serious illness is deeply appreciated.

Janice Hope Lewis
FAYETTEVILLE — Janice Hope Minnix Lewis, 84, of Fayetteville, went home to be with her Lord and with her family by her side at 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
Born on July 25, 1925, at Lansing, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edith Workman Minnix.
Mrs. Lewis was a member of Lansing Baptist Church. Besides being a homemaker, she was a retired LPN having worked at various nursing homes in Fayette County. She was past president of Cameras in Action Club of Oak Hill, a member of AARP, and a member of The ANGEL Support Group. She loved to travel and had traveled to all 50 states.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Woodrow Lewis, on Aug. 24, 1992; her brother, Darrell Minnix; and one granddaughter.
Left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Lloyd Lewis of Fayetteville, W.Va., and Clarence Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Patricia Hope Beaver of Greenfield, Ind., and Melanie Elaine Lewis of Fayetteville, W.Va.; three granddaughters, Lori Lewis McKinney, Melissa Beaver Moore, and Kris Lewis Lescinsky; two grandsons, Robert Jason Beaver and Edward John Lewis; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, with Pastor Justin Seay officiating. Burial will follow at Lansing Cemetery.
The family will receive friends two hours before the funeral Sunday at the funeral home.

Ronald Denver Richmond Sr.
CONNELLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Ronald Denver Richmond Sr., 76, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, at his residence.
He was born on March 3, 1933, in Glen Daniel, to the late Ernest Trump Richmond and Violet Sauls Richmond.
He had several different occupations during life until he became disabled.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Marie Richmond; two sons-in-law, Donald B. Lafferty and Timothy J. Davis; brothers, Delbert, Dallas, James and Troy Richmond; and sisters, Geneve Jarrell and Mary Dunn.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Lafferty of Connelly Springs, Dolorse Watson and husband, Tony, of Hickory; son, Ronald D. Richmond Jr. and wife, Gail, of Hickory; several grandchildren: Byron Lafferty, Katie Davis, Misty Jeffries, Nikki Willis, Ron and Wayne Richmond; three great-grandchildren: Alexis and Christopher Jeffries and Elizabeth Willis; sister, Onita Hall; and a brother, Gerald Richmond.
Memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon, Nov. 16, 2009, at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville.

Charles Keith Roberts

Charles Keith Roberts, 60, of Oceana, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009, in a Beckley hospital following a long illness.
Born Nov. 18, 1948, at Welch, he was the son of the late Swisher Sprinkle Roberts and Lucy L. Morgan Roberts.
Charles was a resident of Oceana since 1974. He was a 1967 graduate of Gilbert High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Redford, and James E. Roberts, his heartfelt mother, Essie Morgan, and a special aunt, Tessie Morgan.
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Gunnoe and her husband, Curtis, of Clear Fork, Laura Lambert and her husband, Steve, of Pineville; five brothers, Omas Lester of Iron City, Tenn., Ronald Roberts of Mobile, Ala., Carl Roberts of Mobile, Ala., Fred Roberts of Daphne, Ala., Bill Roberts of Milton, Fla.; three sisters, Loretta Dawsey of Houston, Texas, Sylvia Odom of Semmes, Ala., and Sally Nelson of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren, Kari and Curtis “Bub” Gunnoe, Gavin Roberts and Cole Lambert.
He is also survived by a host of cousins, and friends, some of whom he considered brothers and sisters.
A celebration of Charles’ life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, in the Evans Memorial Chapel with Rev. E.J. Morgan officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Military rites will be conducted by the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
Charlie loved his family and touched the lives of the people who crossed his path in life. He loved people, especially those dearest to him, including his precious daughters, grandchildren, family and close friends.
God may have chosen to take him to Heaven but he left us many precious memories. He was a great dad, grandfather, brother, a great friend and most of all a great man.

Dorothy ‘Dot’ Bosworth Sloan
CRYSTAL SPRINGS — Dorothy “Dot” Bosworth Sloan, 94, of Crystal Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Friday, March 12, 1915, in Beverly, W.Va., a daughter of the late Mary and Carroll Bosworth.
On June 29, 1935, in Oakland, Md., she married Maynard Sloan who preceded her in death February 1994.
She was a lifelong resident of Randolph County. In 1932 she graduated from Beverly High School. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning as recently as this year.
During her sixty years as a faithful charter member of The Otterbein United Methodist Church in Elkins she served in several capacities. She was a trustee, treasurer, president of the Ladies United Methodist Auxiliary and a member of the church choir.
She was on the Board of Directors for Good Shepherd Ministries.
She was a volunteer for the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary until September 2009.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one infant son, Roscoe Maynard Sloan; one sister, Pauline Pritt; and five brothers, Bernard “Brownie” Bosworth, Newton Bosworth, “Bud” Bosworth, Richard “Dick” Bosworth and Owen “Shike” Bosworth.
Dot’s survivors include two daughters: Pat Reed and husband Jim of Beckley and Dottie Arbogast and husband Dale of Elkins; four grandchildren: Cindy Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio, Lisa Jeffrey and husband Keith of Beckley, Kevin Arbogast and friend Janna Christy of Morgantown and Ryan Arbogast and wife Stacy of Elkins; three great-grandchildren: Madison, Skylar and Lynlee; one sister, Nina Thompson of Panama City, Fla.; one brother, Charles Bosworth of Maryland; several nieces and nephews and a host of very special friends.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, WV 26241, in memory of Dorothy “Dot” Bosworth Sloan.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at The Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Davis Ave., Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today, Nov. 7, 2009, at the church with the Rev. James Murphy Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Elkins.
Dot’s pride and joy was being a loving mother to Pat and Dottie and a doting Mama to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
