RICH CREEK, Va. — Bonnie Lou Beasley, 60, of Rich Creek, Va., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006.

Isabella Faith Carnell, infant daughter of Bill and Vanyla Carnell of Shady Spring, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, in a Pittsburgh, Pa., hospital.

Donald C. Cook
Donald C. Cook, 76, of Daniels, formerly of Shaker Heights, Ohio, died on Oct. 27, 2006.
Born Feb. 1, 1930, at Hotch-kiss, he was the son of the late Lonnie W. and Ocie Bolt Cook.
Mr. Cook was a 1956 graduate of Marshall University and was a financial advisor having worked for Advisory Services, Inc., in Cleveland serving as Vice President. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Beckley, where he served as Elder, Deacon, Trustee, and was current Treasurer of the church. He was former President of Beaver Lions Club, served on the Board of Directors of Beckley Concert Association, Director of Aftercare Project, a Republican Committeeman, and was President of Christian Adult Fellowship of First Christian Church. Mr. Cook was named Melvin Jones Fellow with the Lions Club and was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by a son, Clayton Lee Cook; brother, Orville Cook; and sister, Irma Keaton.
Survivors include his wife Mary Jo Shelton Cook of Daniels; his daughter, Ann E. Lee and her husband David, and their children Lorin and Kasey Lee of Maitland, Fla.; his two sons, Richard C. Cook of Orlando, Fla., and Mark S. Cook and his wife Beth, and their children Sean and Andrew of Chicago, Ill.; brothers and sisters, Eunice Cragett, Randall Cook, Norma Acord, Ralph Cook, James, Harold, David and Frank Cook, and Phyllis Murdock.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, from the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, Beckley, with Rev. Don Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be family members.

Elizabeth Crouse
OCEANA — On Oct. 28, 2006, Elizabeth Ann Crouse of Oceana departed this life and is now residing with Jesus. She was 28 years of age.
Born Nov. 10, 1977, she was the daughter of Drema Crouse of Oceana, and the late David Crouse.
Elizabeth was a 1996 Oceana High School graduate and also graduated from the Wyoming County Vocational School with a Certified Nursing Assistant degree. She attended the Family Praise and Worship Center where she joyfully sang with the Praise Team. She was an employee of Wal-Mart at Crab Orchard. Her passion was finding her family’s genealogy.
In addition to her father, her paternal grandparents, Levi and Lois Crouse of Alderson; maternal grandfather, Bud Wimmer of Oceana; and also several aunts, uncles, and cousins preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving mother, Drema Crouse, and friend Tracy Mellon of Oceana; her precious brother, Levi Crouse and his wife Julie, and a very special nephew, Kaden Alexander Crouse, all of Scott Depot; maternal grandmother, Ethel Wimmer of Sun Hill; uncles, Kenneth Wimmer of Sun Hill, David Wimmer and companion Marlena Walls of Oceana, Johnny D. Wimmer and wife Debra of Fanrock, Billy Wimmer and wife Janie of Richmond, Johnny Crouse and wife Gail of Brenton, Charles Crouse and wife Judy of Alderson, and Francis Wimmer and wife Rosa of Richmond; aunts, Linda Finchett of Oak Hill and Eva Addair and husband Darrell of Fanrock; great-uncles, Perry Crouse and wife Camy of Clear Fork and Mike Singleton and wife Vivian of St. Louis; great-aunts, June Crouse of Ikes Fork, Jenny McDaniels and husband Chuck of Missouri, Barbara Kramer of St. Louis, and Mary Wheeler of St. Louis; and several loving cousins. She was blessed with special friends, Stephanie, Bobby, Alex, and MaKayla Riddles of Oceana, Angie and Eric Robinson of Virginia, Mindy Jarrells, Wiley, Isaiah, and Trevor Jett of Mullens.
Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Evans Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Timmy Brewster officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderson Community Cemetery, Alderson.
Friends may call from 6 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Ernie R. Devers, 67, of Beckley, formerly of Raleigh, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006.

Rev. Dr. R.E. ‘Gene’ England, II
Rev. Dr. R.E. “Gene” England, II, 59, of Bradley, passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at his home, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on Oct. 20, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh E. and Hazel Woodruff England; a son, Raleigh E. England, III; and a grandson, Eric Wayne Schrader.
Rev. England was pastor of Grace Gospel Church in Beaver and also served as Chaplain for the Beaver and Beckley Fire Departments. He was a retired firefighter/paramedic in Portsmouth, Va., and a United States Navy veteran. Gene served as a Christian Counselor and was on the Ethics Committee at Raleigh General Hospital. He received his Doctorate in Theology from Carolina University of Theology in Belmont, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Morton England; two daughters, Lisa Fetters and husband Russell of Chesapeake, Va., and Crystal Schrader and husband Michael of Mt. Hope; three sisters, Janet Richardson of Chesapeake, Va., Sharon Giordano of Pepperville, Mass., and Michelle Terry of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, Pat M. England of Pepperville, Mass.; and nine grandchildren, Charles and Joshua Fetters, Wesley and Mallory Schrader, Tessa, Gene, Darren, and Zachary England, and Brooke Culver.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of God Family Worship Center in Beckley, with Dr. Larry Halsey and Pastor Jeff Canterbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Wickline Cemetery at Meadow Bridge.
Friends may call from 5 until 9 p.m. today at Smathers Funeral Chapel.

Catherine Gilkerson
Catherine Z. Gilkerson, 92, of Crab Orchard, formerly of Beaver, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at the Raleigh Center at Daniels, following a long illness.
She had made her home at Crab Orchard with her son, Dewaun and his wife Frances Gilkerson, and had previously made her home at Beaver, where she had lived independently for 89 years.
Catherine was a homemaker, and worked for several businesses in the Beckley area.
She was born Sept. 26, 1914, at Blue Jay, and was the daughter of the late Clay and Ruth Morton Plumley.
She was preceded in death by husband, Avery Gilkerson; sons, Norman and Robert Gilkerson; sister, Marie Snead; brothers, James and Fred Plumley; and grandson, Christopher Gilkerson.
Survivors include her sons, Bruce Gilkerson and wife Anna of Portland, OR, and Dewaun Gilkerson and wife Frances of Crab Orchard; sister, Gertie Lucas of Montgomery; brother, Basil Plumley and wife Duris of Columbus, Ga.; grandchildren, Vickie Smith and husband Tony of Trinity, NC, Katie Gibson and husband Ryan of Louisa, Va., Mark Gilkerson, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Camp LeJeune, NC, Kim Williams and husband Robert of Beckley, and Kathy Gunther and husband Shawn of Crab Orchard; and a great-grandson, Jason Williams.
Catherine leaves behind many lifelong friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Rev. Allan Copenhaver officiating. Burial will follow at the Blue Jay Cemetery at Blue Jay.

Mary Harmon
Mrs. Mary Ellen Harmon, age 81, of Beckley, WV, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at Beckley Regional Hospital. She was the wife of the late Harold P. Harmon.
Mrs. Harmon was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Sandstone, the daughter of the late Lonnie Alfred and Linda McKinney Burdette. She was a member of McAllister Memorial Presbyterian Church where she served as past president of Women of the Church, Circle chairman, Sunday school teacher, Christian Community Action Chairman, and choir member. Mrs. Harmon was given the honorary life membership of Presbyterian Women of Church. She was a member of the Gilmer Club where she served as a past president as well as holding other positions in the club. While residing in West Virginia, Mrs. Harmon attended Piney View Bible Church and was a member of Hands All Around Quilt Club. She was a member of the American Association of Retired People.
Mrs. Harmon is survived by two sisters, Roxie Ayers of Sandstone, WV, and Helen M. Bragg and husband, James, of Piney View, WV; and a brother, Howard Burdett and wife, JoAnn, of Sandstone; three stepchildren, Charles Harmon and wife, Glenna, of Callaghan, James Harmon and wife, Lynn, of Denver, CO, and June Ann Logins and husband, John, of Quintin; 10 stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lonnie Alfred and Linda McKinney Burdette, and her husband, Harold P. Harmon, Mrs. Harmon was preceded in death by a stepmother, Martha Mckinney Burdette, a sister, Francis Burdette, and six brothers, Charles Burdette, George Burdette, William Burdette, Lester Burdette, James Burdette and John Burdette.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at Alleghany Memorial Park with the Rev. Michael C. Fleenor officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
The family suggests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to charity of one’s choice.

OXFORD, Ga. — Betty Bolen McAdoo, 76, of Oxford, Ga., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at home, after several years of illness.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband of 13 years, Mr. Ray McAdoo; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and John Houck; son and daughter-in-law, James and Tina McAdoo; son and daughter-in-law, Jack H. and Lisa S. Phillips; five grandchildren, Chris Burgess, Chad and Kelly Houck, Michelle and Tony Floyd, Brittney Phillips, and Jeremy Phillips; great-grandchild, Alyssa Brewer; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Mick McConky of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Marie Bolen of Lawrenceville, Ga.; brother, Elvin Bolen of Daytona Beach, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, John (deceased) and Shirley Bolen of Flowery Branch, Ga.; sister, Freda Dixon (deceased).
Mrs. McAdoo was born on Feb. 14, 1930, in West Virginia. She was a retired business owner and insurance agent. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conyers.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Horis Ward Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Paul officiating. Interment will follow at Green Meadows Cemetery in Conyers, Ga.
