Margaret Magalene Pauley Boggess
OAK HILL — Margaret Magalene Pauley Boggess, 77, of Oak Hill, died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, after a sudden illness.
Born July 29, 1931, at Riverside, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George and Mae Sites Pauley.
Mrs. Boggess was a member of the LifeBridge Assembly of God, Oak Hill, and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd Clinton Boggess; one son, Samuel Lee Boggess and wife, Patricia, of North Lake, Ill.; one sister, Annabelle Cory of Aberdeen, Md.; brothers-in-law, Gene Smith of Virginia Beach, Va., Earl Boggess and wife, Edna, of Page, Joe Boggess and wife, Charlotte, of Palm Coast, Fla., and Troy Boggess and wife, Hazel, of Gallipolis, Ohio, and sisters-in-law, Betty Boggess of Kimberly and Lois Boggess of Vine Grove, Ky.
She is also survived by two granddaughters, Kristy Boggess and Michelle Boggess, both of North Lake, Ill.; her bestfriend, Sherry Kincaid of Fayetteville; and a host of other friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, with the Rev. Joe Hoggard and the Rev. George Mandakunis officiating. Burial will be at Montgomery Memorial Park in London.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

STOLLINGS — Charles Burns, 79, of Stollings, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008.
Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan. Graveside service and burial will be 2 p.m. at Clover Cemetery in Roane County. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan.

OAK HILL — Becky Sue Cline, 55, died on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

GLEN ROGERS — Ms. Dorothy Lee “Dory” Fuller, 81, of Glen Rogers, died Tuesday, Oct 7, 2008, in Raleigh General Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 So. Kanawha St., Beckley. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Homer Samuel Grose
SUMMERSVILLE — Homer Samuel Grose, 64, of Summersville, W.Va., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at his home.
Born Nov. 6, 1943, at Summersville, he was a son of the late Patrick and Phala Cavendish Grose.
He was also preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Grose; and a brother, Gerald Grose.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired safety inspector with MSHA.
Survivors include his companion, Cindy Hewitt; children, Samuel Grose and his fiancee’, Denny Gibeaut, and his sons, Christopher and Tyler; Teddy Grose and his wife, Lizzette, and their sons, Matthew and Braydon; Angie Pickelsimer and daughters, Danielle Paxton and Roxanne Hamrick and her fiance’, Derrick, and their son, Brandon; Andrea Harman and her husband, John, and their son, Ezra; brothers, Charles Grose and his wife, Judy; John Grose, James Grose and his wife, Jeannie; nieces and nephews; and a host of other family members who were all special to him; Cindy’s family, Jennifer and Brett Wright and daughters, Melissa and Morgan, Megan, Meredith Buskus and fiance’, Patrick Gray, and children, Melanie, Jayme, Jill and Julie, Jeremy and Melanie Buskus and daughter, Tricia, and Nicole Evans and fiance’, Chad, and their son, Landen. Between our families, we had 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson. You will always be remembered in our hearts.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Friday in the White Funeral Home at Summersville with the Rev. Ron George officiating. Interment will follow in the Grose Family Cemetery on Armstrong Road at Summersville.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Friday.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Graveside service and burial for Dorothy Meador Hamilton, 89, of Fayetteville, N.C., who died May 2, 2008, will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Greenbrier Burial Park in Hinton. Dr. Barbara Romfo will officiate. A procession will leave Pivont Funeral Home in Hinton 12:15 p.m. Saturday, for those wishing to attend the service.

Sammy Lee Holstein
Sammy Lee Holstein, 43, of Dameron, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008.
Born Sept. 20, 1965, in Beckley, he was the son of Stella Holstein and the late Charles Holstein, Sr.
Sammy attended the Cornerstone Church in Fairdale.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Stella Holstein of Glen Daniels; brother, Charles Holstein Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Dameron; nieces, Latasha Holstein and Brigid O’Hara; nephews, Charles Holstein III and Liam O’Hara; and also a special loved one, Robert Henderson.

Beatrice F. James
BALTIMORE, Md. — Beatrice F. James, 71, of Baltimore, died Sept. 29, 2008, at the Manassas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Manassas, Va.
Born Nov. 27, 1936, in West Virginia, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth McGraw Cook.
Ms. James worked as an insurance claims examiner for several years prior to her retirement.
She is survived by one son, Jason James and his wife, Kate, of Manassas; two brothers, George Cook of Cool Ridge, W.Va., and Jerry Cook of Lewisburg, W.Va.; three sisters, Rilla Nachand of East New Market, Md., Charlotte Saddenwasser of Sequim, Wash., and Docia Gross of Tenino, Wash.; and one granddaughter, Grace James of Manassas.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home in Towson Md. Interment will take place Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in Mount Tabor Cemetery in Beckley, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to Mount Tabor Cemetery, 120 Lakeview Drive, Beckley WV 25801.

Brenda Kay Brammer Thorne
Brenda Kay Brammer Thorne, 48, of Beckley, left this world early Monday morning, Oct. 6, 2008, to go home to her Heavenly Father and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She died as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident on Saturday morning, Sept. 27, 2008, near Ghent, W.Va.
Born July 18, 1960, in Beckley, she was the loving daughter of Patri-cia DeHart Brammer and the late Winifred E. Brammer.
Married for 19 years, she was a loving and devoted wife to her husband, Thomas A. Thorne, who loves her dearly.
Brenda loved taking care of her home, traveling, lunches with Joy and Sherry, time spent with Diane, walking with Darla, receiving e-mail pictures of her nieces from Sara, her young Sunday School students, and talking with her children friends on her street. She had a deep compassion for everyone. Brenda was a beautiful person. Brenda loved her four nieces, Rhegan, Lila, Gwenie and Junie; and her nephew, Hunter. They were always in her heart and in her thoughts and prayers.
In addition to her father, Brenda was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Soltes of Bluff City, Tenn.
In addition to her husband, Thomas, and her mother, Patricia Brammer, those left to cherish her memory include her loving sister, Sara Barber and husband, John, and three nieces of Baltimore, Md.; brother-in-law, Bill Soltes; one niece and one nephew, all of Bluff City, Tenn.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; her dear friends, church family and co-workers.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at the Calloway Heights Baptist Church, Beckley, with Pastor Jeff Canterbury and Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family received friends 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley.

Mildred Selvey Vernon
FAYETTEVILLE — Mildred Ann Epperly Selvey Vernon, 80, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, at home following an extended illness.
Born on Feb. 10, 1928, in Fayetteville, she was the daughter of the late Henry Phillip and Flossie Ann Roles Epperly.
Mrs. Vernon was a member of the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Church Circle. She graduated from Fayetteville High School, WV Institute of Technology and Charleston Hospital for Nursing. She had 43 years of nursing in hospitals, factories, schools and clinics, and she served in the U.S. Army Nurses Corp.
Mrs. Vernon enjoyed her children, grandchildren, gardening, painting, sewing, outdoors and nursing.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Boyd Selvey Jr.; parents, H. P. “Dink” Epperly and Flossie Roles Epperly; and one sister, Vella Jo Epperly Peterson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John T. Vernon of Fayetteville; three sons, Charles Boyd Selvey III of Princeton, David Blayne Selvey of Greensboro, N.C., and Chris Selvey of Fayetteville; one daughter, Peggy Selvey Franklin of Fayetteville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will 3 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Catherine George officiating. The family will receive friends 1 to 3 p.m. before the service.
In keeping with her wishes, Mrs. Vernon was a donor to West Virginia University Medical School at Morgantown, W.Va.

Kenneth Ray Webb
Kenneth Ray Webb, 72, of Beaver, W.Va., died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at the Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Born on March 26, 1936, at Tolley Town, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ross Webb and Elizabeth Milam Webb.
Mr. Webb was a former building construction worker for Mea-dows Construction Co., and was retired as a self-employed tree trimming businessman.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Rhodes, Mary Bragg and Nina Bragg; and a brother, Dennis Webb.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sue Bragg Webb; sons, Kenneth Webb of Shady Spring, Michael Webb and wife, Debbie, of High Point, N.C.; daughters, Marilyn O’Neal of Beaver and Kathy Lepley of High Point, N.C.; brothers, Jimmy Webb of Crab Orchard, Benny Webb of Beaver, Robert Webb of Fitzpatrick, and David Dean Webb of Raleigh; sisters, Faye Redden of Redden Ridge, Brenda Redden of Grandview and Sharon Meadows of Crab Orchard; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Beaver Church of God, Beaver (beside the Beaver Fire Department), with the Rev. Jerry Clyburn officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery at Maple Meadow, W.Va.

Maryland Cecil Whitt
Maryland Cecil Whitt of Fink Street, Mabscott, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in a Beckley hospital following a short illness. She was 78 years of age.
Born on May 10, 1930, in Sullivan, she was the daughter of the late Orvile Daniel and Lena Brandsteter Cuckler. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Cecil and Virgil Whitt.
Mrs. Whitt was a member of the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church in MacArthur and has been a resident of Mabscott for over 37 years. She worked as a nursing assistant in the Nursery and Pediatrics at Beckley Hospital and Ra-leigh General Hospital. She was also very active as a volunteer in community service.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Cecil of Freeport, Fla.; daughters: Linda Baird and husband, Larry, of Lexington, Ky., and Lena Whittaker and husband, Mark, of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Larry Baird Jr. and wife, Anna Marie, William Collin Baird and wife, Rhonda, Cpt. Jona-than Whittaker and wife, Pamela, Jaclyn Boylan and husband, Matthew, Justin Preston Cecil and Jacob Cecil; 11 great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole, Daniel, Jessica Marie, Ethan James, Collin Grant and Gage Riley Baird; Autumn Rose and Mason Spencer, Brandon Lee and Matthew Kent Whittaker and Madison Grace Boylan. Mrs. Whitt is also survived by a sister, Margaret Ramsey of Bailey, N.C.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. L.C. Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Beckley.
Friends may call 5:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
