MELBOURNE, Fla. — Willa B. Cales of Melbourne, formerly of Hinton, died Monday evening, July 21, 2008 at her residence, following a long illness.

RAINELLE — Charles K. Church Jr., 81, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home following a battle with cancer.

Larry D. Hickman
Larry D. Hickman, age 38, of Coal City, departed this life on Sunday, July 20, 2008, following an automobile accident.
Born Nov. 23, 1969, at Beckley, he was the cherished son of Jerry D. and Patricia A. Webb Hickman of Beckley.
Larry had been employed as a truck driver for Webb’s Florist, but had recently begun working for Southern Mine Services. He loved golf, and was an avid baseball player. He was a 1988 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was the first inductee into the WWHS Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas and Virginia Hickman and maternal grandparents, Van and Marie Webb and many other family members.
Other than his parents, those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Madison Hickman; his fiancée, Shannon Richmond, and her children, Christopher and Nicole Richmond of Coal City and numerous other family members and friends.
Larry was a man of great character, his friendly spirit and humor brought out the finest in those around him. His influence upon others is a flame that will burn brightly forever. He left so much good with every soul he touched.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. David Chrisman officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy “Fitz” Scott, Larry A.T. Hickman, Richard Pilkington, Jim Bare, Michael “Moose” Honaker, and Michael “Bo” Parks.

Austin Harrison McMillion
RONCEVERTE — Austin Harrison McMillion, 83, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Fairfax Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Va.
Austin was born April 28, 1925, in Greenbrier County, W.Va., to the late George H. and Launia F. McMillion.
Austin was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, a commercial salesman for Appalachian Tire Company, retiring in 1990, a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a Shryock Lodge No. 47, 32 Degree Shriner and a member of the Lewisburg Elks.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine McMillion of Ronceverte; two daughters, Joanne Williams of Charlotte, N.C. and Reta Rodgers and husband, Steve, of Warrenton, Va.; three sisters, Alma Frey and husband, Merle, of Lewisburg, Hilda McDowell of Lewisburg, and Hazel Moore of Springfield, Va.; a brother, Calvin McMillion and wife, Barbara, of Waldorf, Md.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and eight nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Estep officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Lewisburg.

Patricia Pitsenberger Prins
On Thursday, July 17, 2008, Dr. Patricia P. Prins of Silver Spring, Md., died after a long illness.
She was a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy, and shortly afterwards, she moved to Silver Spring, Md., where she spent the rest of her life building a family and a career.
Dr. Prins established a memorable career at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Md. as the Director of Pharmacy for 30 plus years of service. During her career, she went on to complete her Doctorate of Pharmacy graduating from the University of Maryland’s School of Pharmacy.
Dr. Pins was the beloved wife of the late Dennis John Prins. She is survived by her son, David Prins and his wife, Susan, of Silver Spring, Md.; daughter, Denise Dobalo and her husband, Alfred, of Tampa, Fla.; grandson, Daniel Prins; brother, Bill Stone and his wife, Carrie Lou, of Stephens City, Va., and other relatives and friends including her dear friend, Charles Topper.
On Thursday, July 24, 2008, visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home, 11800 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, Md. On Friday at 10 a.m. funeral services will be held at the Spencerville Seventh-day Adventist Church, 16325 New Hamsphire Ave., Silver Spring, Md. Interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.

Helen L. Foster-Simpson
STARKE, Fla. — Helen L. Foster-Simpson, 69, of Starke, loving wife, sister, and mother passed away peacefully Friday, July 4, 2008.
She was born January 7, 1939 in Quinnimont, W.Va., daughter of Owen and Edith Foster.
Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 20 years, Buddy Simpson, her sister Mary Evelyn Foster-Krasula, her children Jeffery D. Perry, Lisa M. Perry-Moraco, Vicki R. Perry, and Jay R. Perry, step-daughter Stacia Ferguson and her grandchildren: Stephanie Moraco, Chad Perry, Kristina Perry, Cody Perry, Meagan Perry, and Kaytlin Perry. She was great grandmother (GG) to Christian Knowles.
Helen was a very special person with a heart of gold. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. She will be missed dearly by all that knew her.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Jo Ann Calfee Stanton, 56, of Beckley, left this world Tuesday, July 22, 2008, as a result of a second battle with cancer.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Temple, Beckley, with Dr. Chuck Pullins officiating.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley.

Sue Wilson Tucker
ANSTED — Sue Wilson Tucker, 65, of Ansted, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008, at Plateau Medical Center.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at High Lawn Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill. Visitation will be from noon until time of the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.

Gerry W. Walker
Gerry William Walker, 48, of Beckley departed this life on Monday, July 21, 2008 to receive his new glorified body from his Lord Jesus Christ.
Gerry was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on February 1, 1960. He was the beloved son of the late Lendo and Wilda Walker Sr. and also the beloved little “bro” of Lendo Walker Jr.
Gerry suffered injuries from a 1974 automobile accident causing him to be confined to a wheelchair for 34 years of his life. However, this did not prevent him from spreading love and joy to all who met him, leaving them with a beautiful, unforgettable smile. He enjoyed spending time with his family and good friends that helped care for him. This included eating out, driving through parks and watching game shows. He also attended the Blue Jay Learning Center and the old Grove Chapel Church with his father. His greatest passion was his family’s annual Walker Reunion in Egeria, W.Va. He loved and was extremely thankful for all of his family and especially his loving friends that have cared for him on a daily basis.
Gerry we will miss your beautiful blue eyes, your hugs and kisses and your dazzling bright smile.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father Lendo K. Walker Sr. and mother Wilda Louise Weddle Walker; paternal grandparents Brian and Gladys Walker Tilley and maternal grandparents Norman and Florence Weddle.
Survivors include his brother Lendo K. Walker Jr. and wife, Tammy, of Beckley; nephews: Ryan Walker and wife Sharee of Beckley and Aaron Walker and fiancé Erica Lacen of Beckley; great nephew Jullian John Walker of Beckley; his cousins from Egeria and by the very special people that took care of him.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Larry Halsey officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday and one hour prior to the service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
Nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family request memorial contributions be made in memory of Gerry to Brian’s Safe House, care of Faith Baptist Church, P. O. Box 610, Prosperity, WV 25909.
