Nancy Swartz Bonner
On Wednesday, July 16, 2008, Nancy Swartz Bonner, of 1114 Harper Road (Pagoda Motel), passed away. She was 61 years of age.

Darleen F. Brown
Darleen F. Brown, 62, of Daniels, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at her residence.
Born June 21, 1946, at Lebanon, Tenn., she is the daughter of Elisabeth Williams Fredeking and the late Robert Richard Fredeking.
Mrs. Brown was a school teacher having taught at St. Stephens Episcopal Day School for the past 18 years. Darleen attended Greenbrier College for Women in Lewisburg, Marshall University, and West Virginia University.
Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Hamilton Brown, in 1995.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, James “Jim” Brown; a daughter, Katheryn Elizabeth Worrell and husband, Christopher, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a son, Michael Hughes Brown of Philadelphia, Pa.; a brother, Robert Richard Fredeking II and wife, Deborah, of Huntington, W.Va.; two sisters, Artie Jo Chapman of Stuart, Fla., and Lisa Spriggs and husband, William, of Campabello, S.C.; and two grandchildren, Morgan Alexis Worrell and Jessica Amber Worrell.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Beckley, W.Va., with Rev. Eric Miller officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Stephens Episcopal Day School and the Beckley Area Foundation.

Audrey C. Cecil Cook
CHARLESTON — Audrey C. Cecil Cook, 85, of Charleston, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston, after a short illness.
Audrey was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of West Virginia. She was a Protestant and a great Bible Scholar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Arville Cook, and son, David Cook.
Surviving sons, Arvil Cook and wife Margaret of Jesse, W.Va., Terry Cook and wife Sue of Nitro, Sandy Cook and wife Debbie of Charleston, and Craig Cook and wife Belinda of Dunbar; a daughter, Earline Krantz and husband Vincent of Ransonville, N.Y.; special adopted daughters, Mary Asbury of Dunbar and Donna Wattie of Chesapeake; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation and service will be today, July 19, 2008, at 7 p.m., at the Spirit Life Fellowship Church, 137 Sixth St., Dunbar, with Pastor Herman Cook officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church in Dunbar.
Additional services will be Sunday, July 20, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Ark of Safety Church at Glen Fork, Wyoming County, W.Va., with Pastor Herman Cook officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny, W.Va.
Friends may call Sunday one hour prior to services at the church.

PINEVILLE — Jeremy Paul Fitch, 31, of Pineville, passed away Friday, July 18, 2008.

John D. Hall
FAYETTEVILLE — John D. Hall, 63, of Rt. 1, Fayetteville, W.Va., died on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Pla-teau Medical Center in Oak Hill, W.Va.
Born Sept. 17, 1944, at Kingston, W.Va., he was the son of the late James W. “Buck” and Mary Elizabeth “Sis” Powers Hall.
John was an employee of Fayette Awning & Glass of Oak Hill.
He was a member of the Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church, Oak Hill, and the Gideons. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
A sister, Billie Rachel Hall Williams, and his father-in-law, Marvin Dangerfield, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Dangerfield Hall; a daughter, Emily Hall Frost and husband, Jonathan, of Front Royal, Va.; two brothers, James “Freddie” Hall and wife, Dorothy June, of Oak Hill and Kenneth “Shorty” Hall and wife, Faye, of Staunton, Va.; and a sister, Janice Gayle Longsworth and husband, Harold, of Farmville, Va.
He is also survived by two grandchildren, Hannah Lindsey Frost and Ethan James Frost, and his mother-in-law, Jean Dangerfield.
Services will be on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Fellowship Memorial Baptist Church in Oak Hill, with Pastor Bill Parker officiating. Entombment will be at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill, W.Va. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post #3110 of Oak Hill.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.
His son-in-law, Jon Frost, Jim Murdock, Stanley Wriston, Lewis Sanson, Lee Drake, and Burl Burgess will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gideon International, P.O. Box 429, Oak Hill, WV 25901.

Mary Moore Beamer McNeil
SINKS GROVE — Mary Moore Beamer McNeil, 82, of Sinks Grove, passed away Friday morning, July 18, 2008, at her home, following a short illness.
She was born at Pickaway, W.Va., Oct. 29, 1925, a daughter of the late Roy Stennet and Sallie Matilda Moore Beamer.
Mrs. McNeil was a rural route mail carrier retiring with 30 years of service. She was an avid gardener, cook, and homemaker. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church at Pickaway and was a charter board member of the Union Swimming Pool Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William T. McNeil, on Nov. 26, 2006; and five brothers, Bryon, Charlie, Robert, Bill, and Asa Beamer.
Surviving are a son, Char-les R. McNeil of Pickaway; a daughter, Barbara Holesapple and her husband, William “Buddy,” of Sinks Grove; two grandchildren, Michele Belcher of Morgantown and Todd McNeil Belcher of Sinks Grove; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, with the Rev. Mike Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the New Lebanon Cemetery at Pickaway.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

Alta E. Underwood, age 58, of Beckley, passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., on Thursday, July 17, 2008.
She was born on Oct. 14, 1949, at Cucumber, in McDowell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dennis Christian and Lorena Walker Christian Alley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil David Underwood, and a daughter, Lisa Lorene Underwood.
Survivors include her son, David and wife, Elizabeth Underwood of Victor, W.Va.; her daughter, Tonia and husband, Randy Crocker of Anderson, S.C.; two sisters, Della and husband, James King of Beckley, W.Va., and Margaret and husband, Roy Hulvey of Dameron, W.Va.; a brother, James Bryan and wife, Yvonne Walker of Spring Lake, N.C.; six grandchildren, Krista, Travis, Tylor, Tori, Nathaniel, and Ethan; and several nieces and nephews, including Heidi, Gretchen, Michelle, Margaret, Jimmy, and Timmy.
Services will be held Sunday afternoon, July 20, 2008, at 3 p.m., at the Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, W.Va., with Rev. Eddie McNeeley officiating. Interment will follow in Walker-Stover Cemetery, Ameagle, W.Va.
Visitation will be Sunday, two hours prior to the service.
