Ronald Lee Stafford

Ronald Lee Stafford, formerly of West Virgnia, born Jan. 27, 1911, passed away July 12, 2008.

A Godly man of great character! A wonderful son and brother. A loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather!

Ronald began life in North Carolina, one of 12 children of Claude and Matilda Stafford. He married Pansy Louise McKinney on May 12, 1933. They relocated to West Virginia, where he began working in the coal mines, moving up the chain of management to foreman. He principally worked in Whitby, with short stints of service in Fireco and Richwood. Ron and Louise have one child, Margaret Alene Stafford Webb, born Sept. 11, 1934. Margaret married Lewis McKinney Webb on Aug. 15, 1953. Ron and Louise fell in love with Lewis as much as their daughter did. He was truly the son of their heart. The young couple moved to California to begin their lives together. It wasn’t long before Ron and Louise followed the young couple west, and moved to California. At this time, Ron began work in the Aerospace industry and continued until his retirement.

He was a man of many passions. His commitment to the Lord was number one. His Bible was well read, often quoted and never far from his side. His family was his first priority. He would rather be with his family than with any one else on earth. Good humored, easy to laugh, great story/joke teller, the man everyone loved. True golf enthusiast! He got more pleasure out of playing a round of golf than should have been legal. It was a joy just to hear him tell about the time he shot his lowest score! Boy, did he love the beauty of the North Carolina mountains. He could talk about the color of the foliage in the fall or the wild flowers in the spring and describe it in a way the picture was painted on your mind forever.

At 97 years of age, Ronald, lovingly known as Papaw to his grandchildren, had lived a beautiful life but no one was prepared to let go of such an extraordinary man. When his time on earth came to an end … as a testament to his faithfulness to the Lord … while he was sleeping, it was as if the Lord just took him in His arms and he was gone.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Pansy Louise Stafford; daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Lewis Webb; grandchildren, Karen and Jeff Armour, Laura and Lewis Webb III, Jeremy Lee Webb; great-grandchildren, Amy Anne Armour, Chasen Armour, Cortland Armour, Mallory Webb, Sarah Webb, McKenzie Webb, Madison Webb; brothers, Charles Stafford and Lace Stafford. Today he is in Paradise!

A visitation was held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at O’Connor Mortuary, 25301 Alicia Pkwy., Laguna Hills, Calif. Private interment.

Those wanting to make a donation in honor of Ronald Stafford may send it to: Presbyterian Church of the Master, 26051 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
