Roy Cody Corbitt
Roy Cody Corbitt, 13, of Summersville, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, from injuries received in an ATV accident near Bergoo in Webster County.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, in the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin with Pastor Mark Secrist officiating. Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville.

Harry Hayes Humphreys Sr.
Harry Hayes Humphreys, Sr., 84, of Union, W.Va., passed away Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at his home following a long illness.
He was born at Union, W.Va., February 13, 1925, a son of the late Ruby Milton and Bertha Miller Humphreys.
Mr. Humphreys was a retired employee of Republic Steel in Cleveland, Ohio, a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII and a member of the Union Memorial Baptist Church at Union.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Dry and Mayo Humphreys; a brother, Milton Humphreys.
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Ruby Dixon Humphreys of Union; two sons, Harry H. Humphreys, Jr., and his wife, Mary, of Union, Fred M. Humphreys and his wife, Valerie, of Covington, Va.; a sister, Lillian Humphreys of Lindside; two grandchildren, Heather Humphreys of Roanoke, Va., and Daniel Humphreys of Covington, Va.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Union Memorial Baptist Church in Union with the Rev. Mark Shafer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery at Union, W.Va.
Friends may call at the Groves Funeral Home in Union from 6 to 8 p.m. today and at the church one hour prior to the services.
Groves Funeral Home in Union is in charge of arrangements.
Franklin D. Jack
Franklin D. Jack, age 70, of Beckley, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009.
Born September 18, 1938, he was the son of the late James Edward and Bertie Marie Williams Jack.
Franklin loved his dogs and cat and watching westerns. He enjoyed outdoors and wildlife. He was a member of the UMWA and was a Coal Miner for 22 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Settle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his caregivers, his son, Dillard Alan Jack and wife Renee of Beckley; and his former wife, Arlene Williams, mother of his son. Also surviving him are his granddaughter, Christina Hopkins and husband David of Princewick; two great-grandchildren, Devin Elaine and David Alan Hopkins; three sisters, Betty Taylor and husband Larry of Robson, Brenda Plumley of Page, and Linda Williams and husband Lawson of Fayetteville; four nephews; and two nieces.
Services will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley, with Rev. Jerry Tyree officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family today, June 29, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ricky Clinton Lester, 46, of Hanover, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Logan Regional Medical Center.
Funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Hanover House of Faith, Joe Point, Hanover, with the Rev. Ronnie Lester and the Rev. Jackie Lester officiating. Burial will be in Lester Family Cemetery, Joe Point, Hanover. Friends may call 6 to 10 p.m. today with a service at 7 p.m. at the Hanover House of Faith at Joe Point, Hanover.

Ella Ruth Long
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS — Ella Ruth Long, 82, passed away Friday, June 26, 2009, in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a long illness.
Born Sept. 3, 1926, in Auto, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Lillie Jeston Sheets Bare.
Mrs. Long was a homemaker, member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of White Sulphur Springs and was a resident of White Sulphur Springs for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wesley Long; one son, Jimmy Long; five sisters, Zenah Fogus, Zada Workman, Reba Bostic, Dell Workman and Marie Easler; and two brothers, Willie Bare and Gib Bare.
Survivors include two daughters, Margie Mangus of Lynchburg, Va., and Lois Harrison of Renick; two sons, John Workman of Lynchburg, Va., and Bill Long of Glasgow, Va.; one sister, Audrey Bostic of Fairlea; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service will be Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 2 p.m., at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, White Sulphur Springs, Ingleside Avenue, with Rev. Gene Sizemore officiating. Burial to follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
Friends may call 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 29, 2009, at the Pentecostal Holiness Church, Ingleside Avenue, White Sulphur Springs, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Jimmy David Lucas, 67, of Arnett, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Bowers Hospice House.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Friends may gather with the family 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, at the funeral home.

Billie Jo Muovich
On Saturday, June 27th, 2009, our beloved Billie Jo Muovich of the Oak Grove Community, Beckley, passed away peacefully at the Bowers Hospice House following an extended illness. She was 68 years of age.
Billie Jo was the third of four children and the only daughter of the late Ira Wesley and Opal Fern Hackney McConnell. She was born on Sept. 20, 1940, in Wise County, Virginia; her brothers Harold, Ira Jr. and Robert all preceded her in death.
Billie Jo spent her childhood in Eccles. A resident of the Oak Grove community for the past 50 years, she was a faithful member of the Oak Grove Christian Church, where she loved to sing in the choir, and was active in the food pantry. At the end of the day, when Billie Jo’s children recall her, they remember her love of family, and her devotion to her grandchildren.
In addition to the McConnell family she was preceded in death by her precious daughter Terri Lynn Smith in 2006.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Gary Wayne Muovich and his wife Linda of Beckley and Cheryl Muovich of Oak Grove, the doting grandmother of Brandon Smith and his wife Marilyn, Jordan Smith and Tanner Muovich, the proud great-grandmother of Bayleigh, Sydnee and Annie; her former husband Paige Muovich of Cool Ridge and her ever faithful companion, Speckles.
Funeral services will be Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Oak Grove Christian Church with Mr. Ken Overdorf officiating. Committal services will be Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Park where Billie Jo will be laid to rest beside her mother, Opal, and her daughter, Terri.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the church.
Those wishing to attend the committal services are asked to meet at the church by 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
Elders and deacons of the church will serve as pallbearers.
The family suggest donations of sympathy can be made to the Bowers Hospice House, PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802.

Lorena Buckland Ward
Lorena Buckland Ward, 99, of Hinton passed away June 26, 2009, at the Summers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short illness.
Born December 8, 1909, at Ramp, she was a daughter of the late Lonnie H. and Mary Kessler Richmond.
Lorena was a faithful member of the Ramp Holiness Church as long as her health permitted and was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Summers County.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert W. Buckland, in 1935; and her second husband, James Franklin Ward, in 1981. Five brothers, Ricardo Richmond, Rev. Paul Richmond, Omar Richmond, Carson Richmond and Ira Fox; and two sisters, Etta Skaggs and Ina Bess.
Survived by four sons, Walton Buckland of Indianapolis, Ind., Keith Buckland and wife Patty of Deland, Fla., Curtis Ward and wife Barbara of Greenwood, Ind., and Kenneth Ward and wife Susie of Somerset, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Norman Richmond of Ramp and Calvin Richmond of Indianapolis, Ind., several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastor Felix Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Knob Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral parlor from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
