Faye E. Adams

DAVY — Faye E. Adams, 73, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a short illness.

Faye was born May 12, 1934, in Davy, and was the daughter of the late William and Beulah Lusk Hodges.

Faye was a dedicated teacher, beginning her career in 1960, having taught at Oceana Middle School in 1971, then left for Ohio to teach in Spring Valley. She returned to Wyoming County in 1977, taught at Baileysville Middle School, and retired in 1988.

She was a loving mother and was dedicated to her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Herman L. Adams of Davy; a son, William David Adams of Pax; two stepdaughters, Belinda Ekberg and her husband, Michael, and Donna Davidson and her husband, Richard, all of Ohio; a brother, William Hodges and his wife, Edith, of Lester; two sisters, Ruth Cole and Reberta Hodges, both of Brier Creek; and a host of family and friends.

A celebration of Faye’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Adam Toler Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Tommy Knotts officiating. Faye will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny.

Casketbearers will be James Baker, Michael Knotts, Larry Cole, Leon Cole, Craig Brown, and Scott Hopson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Shelby Gene Brown Sr.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Shelby Gene Brown Sr., of Fredericksburg, Va., formerly of Whitesville, W.Va., was escorted by angels into the presence of the Lord on the evening of May 7, 2008.

He was born June 19, 1938, in West Virginia, a son of the late Jackson and Odes Virginia Futz Brown.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Tolbert; and a brother, Jack Brown Jr.

Shelby and his family spent the last 20 years living and working in the Remington, Va., area. He was a wonderful husband and father that can never be replaced and will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherry G. Brown of Fredericksburg, Va., formerly of Remington, Va.; a son, Shelby G. Brown Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; a sister, Charlotte and Cliff McCallister of Marmet, W.Va.; a brother, Lloyd and Brenda Brown of Whitesville, W.Va.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, May 13, 2008, at 1 p.m., in the Assembly of God Church, Dorothy, W.Va., with Janice Florence officiating and singing by Terry Fuller. Interment will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, W.Va.

Visitation will be two hours before the service at the church.

Armstrong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Michael P. Campbell

MULLENS — Michael P. Campbell, age 50, of Mullens, W.Va., died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at the Raleigh General Hospital, following a short illness.

Born at Mullens, W.Va., on July 22, 1957, he was the son of the late Emory Campbell and Edna Bowling Campbell.

Mr. Campbell was a former employee of Grady Whitlock Ford in Beckley, having worked in the parts department. He had formerly made his home on the Sullivan Road at Glen Morgan, W.Va.

Mr. Campbell was a graduate of Stoco High School.

Survivors include his brothers, Emory Lloyd Campbell and wife Jeannie of Virginia Beach, Va., Jackie M. Campbell and wife Emma of Beckley, W.Va., and Arnold Campbell and wife Rebecca of Beckley, W.Va.; sisters, Gayle Bowling of Ghent, W.Va., and Marsha Saye and husband Ricky of Coal City, W.Va.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, with Rev. Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley.

Friends may call from noon until service time on Tuesday.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

Lora Opal ‘Aunt Lo’ Cline

LYNCO — Lora Opal “Aunt Lo” Cline, 84, of Lynco, W.Va., passed away Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, W.Va.

She was born Nov. 11, 1923, a daughter of the late Scott and Viola Belcher Bishop.

She was a homemaker, loving mother, and the widow of Raymond Cline.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by eight sisters, Zora M. Linville, Ora and Nellie Stewart, Stella Lyall, Flora, Corby, Holline and Sharlene Bishop; and a brother, Corbit Bishop.

Survivors include a son, Keith Raymond Cline of Lynco, W.Va.; two sisters, Erna L. Gibson and husband Clarence “Buck” and Nancy Lorene Lusk, all of Lynco, W.Va.; a brother, Chess Bishop of Bean Station, Tenn.; her loving companion, her cat, Patches; and a host of other loving family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at the Chapel of Stafford Family Funeral Home, Lynco, with Rev. Eugene Cook and Brother Steve Cassell officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, W.Va.

Pallbearers will be Joe Cassell, Johnny Cline, Earl Foster, Thomas Toler, and Donald “Goldwater” Gibson.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mildred Stinnet Hendrickson, 78, formerly of Oak Hill, died in Colbert, Okla.

She is survived by her husband, Don; sons, Steve and Eddie of Colbert, Okla., and Terry of Mississippi; daughter, Becky Bettencount of The Colony, Texas; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward “Edgie” Stinnet of Oak Hill; brother-in-law, Jim of Texas; and sister-in-law, Helen Protka of Oak Hill, W.Va.

The memorial service will be Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at 2 p.m., at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may visit with the family at 1:30 p.m. before the service.

Louise J. Rollyson

PROSPERITY — Louise J. Rollyson, 86, of Prosperity, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her residence.

Born Jan. 9, 1922, at Horse Creek, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ulysses Grant and Clara Belle McAdams Stevens.

Louise was a member of the Prosperity First Baptist Church and a member of the church choir. She had been a resident of Raleigh County since 1982.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Rollyson; by a son, John Charles “Junior” Rollyson Jr.; and by five brothers and sisters.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Tammy Mullins and husband Keith of Oakboro, N.C., and Tina Johnson and companion Timmy Acord of Beckley; great-grandchildren, Amber and Miaya Johnson of Beckley and David and Tonya Mullins of Oakboro, N.C.; great-great-grandson, Tommy Blankenship of Beckley; sisters, Grace Brock of Arnett and Opal Snuffer of Rainelle; and a brother, Harry Stevens of Florida.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Benny Cozort officiating. Burial will follow in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
