Loren Hall Buzzard
HUNTERSVILLE — Loren Hall Buzzard, 18, died Sunday, May 4, 2008.
Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Pocahontas County High School. Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at VanReenen Funeral Home, Marlinton.

Marie Daniel
On Sunday, May 4, 2008, Marie Daniel, of Dry Hill Road, formerly of Glen Dan-iel, passed away in a Beckley hospital. She celebrated her 70th birthday on Saturday.
Born Ina Marie Daniel on May 3, 1938, at Glen Daniel, she was the only child and beloved daughter of the late Elmer and Estelle Pearl Lucas Daniel.
Marie spent her childhood at Glen Daniel. A graduate of Trap Hill School, Class of 1946, she attended Beckley College (Mountain State University) and graduated from Morris Harvey College (University of Charleston) with a teaching degree, and did graduate work at West Virginia University. In declining health for a number of years, Marie last taught at Mt. View Elementary. She had been a resident of Dry Hill Road since 1989.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Alfred and Bertie Richmond Lucas, and her maternal grandparents, Henry Monroe and Ina Jane Dillon Daniel.
A large extended family survives Marie.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel, Beckley, with the Rev. Doctor Robert Stoddard officiating. Marie will be then entombed beside her parents at the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Beckley. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday.

Gale Groves
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Gale Groves, 75, formerly of Quinwood, died early Sunday morning, May 4, 2008, at Mt. Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Va., following a short illness.
Born April 10, 1933, at Quinwood, he was the son of the late Stanley and Flota May Trout Groves.
He was a restaurateur by trade.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Fonda Ellen, Eveline, and Edna Lou Groves.
Survivors include his companion of many years, Charleene Bryant of Alexandria, Va.; a daughter, Kathy McDonald and husband, Tom, of Montgomery, Ala.; a son, Kenny Gale Groves of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Pastor Garlin Groves and wife, Zelda, of Nettie, and Mickey Groves and wife, Carol, of Front Royal, Va.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Wallace and Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Garlin Groves and Pastor Philip Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville.
Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

David Lee Jordan
MAXWELTON — David Lee Jordan, 67, died Saturday, May 3, 2008.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg. Burial will follow in Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Brushy Flats, Renick.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Tiney Alberta Lambert
Tiney Alberta Lambert, age 86, of Beckley, passed away the afternoon of Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. She had resided at Sunbridge Pine Lodge Nursing Home for the past three years, suffering a prolonged illness.
Born June 27, 1921, at Hotchkiss, she was the daughter of the late Harve Boston and Laura Belle (Lawson) Fraley.
Tiney enjoyed singing, dancing and baking. She attended church at Sunbridge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Samuel Lambert of Beckley, in 1986. Also preceding her were nine brothers and sisters and her eldest daughter Virgie (Lambert) Settle of Beckley, who passed away in 2006.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Edith Surratt of Quaker City, Ohio, Anna Mae Harrah, James Lambert, Harles Lambert and Rebecca Aliff, all of Beckley, and Troy Lambert of Virginia Beach, Va.; seventeen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may gather with the family Wednesday, May 7, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Calbraith H. ‘Cal’ Lilly
Calbraith H. “Cal” Lilly, age 88, of Raleigh, died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at the Hilltop Center at Hilltop, W.Va., following a long illness.
Born on Dec. 8, 1919, at Camp Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late H. Clyde Lilly and Ora Fay Moye Lilly.
Mr. Lilly was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Lilly was a member of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church, and the Beckley VFW Post, and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Arch Lilly.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 61 years, Elizabeth Ann Beasley Lilly; a son, Richard Lilly and wife, Cheryl, of Dayton, Ohio; a brother, A. Harold Lilly of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley with the Rev. Harmon Davis and the Rev. Doug Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Men of the Mabscott Christian Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Robert Joseph ‘Bobby’ Pack
NIMITZ — Robert Joseph “Bobby” Pack, 43, of Nimitz, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Born March 14, 1965, at New Britain, Conn., he is the son of the late Walter H. Pack Sr. and Andrea M. Stawski Pack of Nimitz.
Bobby was a member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church of Hinton and was a former member of the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. Bob was an Extra Class Ham Radio Operator who enjoyed hunting, fishing and four-wheeler riding along with spending time with his family and friends.
He was a former trustee of the Lilly-Crews Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Kathleen “Kathy” Lilly Pack; two sons, Joseph Andrew Pack of Nimitz and Bradley Alexander Pack and wife Maria of Nimitz; one granddaughter, Wendy Marie Pack of Nimitz; two brothers, Ricky R. Pack and wife Martha of Nimitz and Walter H. Pack and wife Betty of Nimitz; four nieces, Amanda, Ella, Sarah, Melissa; and two nephews, Wesley and Johnny also survive.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor Chapel with Pastor Elmo Alderman officiating. Burial will follow in the Lilly-Crews Cemetery at Nimitz. Friends may call at the Funeral Parlor from 12 noon until time of service on Wednesday. Family and friends will service as pallbearers.

CYCLONE — Rosemary Paynter, 70, of Cyclone, departed this life Monday, May 5, 2008, in LRMC.

Dwight ‘Bob’ Roach Jr.
CLINTONVILLE — Dwight “Bob” Roach Jr., 64, of Clintonville, died Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, at his home on Henson Road, following a long illness.
Born Sept. 9, 1943, at Fort Spring, W.Va., he was the son of Margaret H. Bowyer Roach of Rainelle, and the late Dwight R. Roach Sr.
Other than his father, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Caroline Roach and Thelma Heaster. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era, and a lumber millwright by trade. Bob was a former member of the Rainelle VFW, Rainelle Moose Lodge, and the Mill Creek Hunt Club.
Survivors include his mother, Margaret H. Roach of Rainelle; former wife, Sandra Roach of Clintonville; two special nieces whom he and Sandra helped raise, Erin Rae Sharp and Megan Renee Sharp; two brothers, Ernest Lee Roach of Rainelle and Everette Roach and wife, Carol, of Crab Orchard; nieces, Toni Sharp, Tammy Crane and Debbie Frame; nephews, Richie Hinkle, Will Hinkle, Larry A. Heaster, Greg Heaster and Steven Heaster; great-nieces, Jillian and Kayla; and great-nephews, Will, Brian, Dennis Lee, Mikey and Zack.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in Rainelle, with Pastor Rob Newman officiating. Burial will follow at the Roach Family Cemetery in Clintonville.

Richard ‘Rick’ Alan Williams Sr.
RANDLETT, Okla. — Richard “Rick” Alan Williams Sr., 66 of Randlett, a native of Cirtsville, W.Va., passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.
In accordance with his wishes, Rick was cremated.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church, Beckley.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 217 S. Heber St., Beckley, WV 25801.
