It’s a case where a man was his own worst enemy.
He got up to investigate noises coming from outside his home. He grabbed his gun and went outside.
Nothing was there, so he came back inside.
He slid the gun into his waistband and heard an explosion.
The gun went off and a bullet ripped through his leg.
“The gun, for whatever reason, did not have a trigger guard,” Fayetteville Police Chief Matt Jeffries said. “When he put it in his waistline, it fired and discharged into his upper right thigh.”
The 39-year-old Fayetteville man called for an ambulance around 5 p.m.
“He was treated and released last night from Raleigh General. He’s going to have further medical treatment. From my understanding, he’ll have to come back for further evaluation.
“He could have hit his femoral artery. He’s lucky for sure.”
